>> flash flood warnings continuing through the arealy we got over an inch of rain in a 20 to 30 minute period when these storms first started to hit and they're continuing through the area. the flash flood warning until 9:30 for parts of delaware chester berks montgomery camden salem counties, burlington and also philadelphia counties included in this area right now. so, this is a wide area where we have flash flood warnings because that rain is still coming down and storm tracker6 live double scan showing it's exactly where the hardest hit areas are right now. first off you can see wow we've updated now 100 lightning strikes in our area. so, this is not dying down its just reigniting through the region. we have almost a training effect because they're coming out of this direction. so, they're moving up to the northeast so you can kind of see it just keeps redeveloping. now you've got it in newark, south of wilmington but the areas that have been hit all morning continue to get hit in parts of salem gloucester and now camden counties in new jersey. so that's one of the main concerns with this right now that we're seeing.
6:02 am
so, you're getting in it glassboro on route 55, on the atlantic city, near medford lakes right now. i just want to go ahead and put up a storm track in this area to give you a sense of where the hardest hit areas are going to continues to go. so we see this hitting lumberton, mount holly at 6:06, then georgetown in new jersey. but also it's in areas to the west as well. we're getting it near malvern near coatesville. norristown not as heavy but this will be headed in that direction, towards jenkintown and up near trenton you're about to get hit with that heavier rain. a lot of rain has been coming down and it's not done yet. that's really the problem. into this evening we have the chance for these scattered downpours and thunderstorms where you could get two to 4-inchs in a short period of time and that's why we've seen that flash flooding this morning and that threat will that continue, matt. >> all right, karen, we're definitely seeing a lot of water on a lot of our highways. here on 42 in camden county the rain that's coming down has lessened up a little bit within the last 15 minutes but all the water is still standing on the roadways attempting to drain.
6:03 am
that means cars can't go quite as fast as normal. so, you will see some delays as you come northbound on 42 in the normally slow spot as those trucks rolled through i think you could see the amount of water that's laying on 42. not quite as wet here on our good buddy ben the ben franklin bridge but still a little bit wet and we still have that right lane construction on the westbound side that will slow us down again this morning. close to the ben, this is 95 where it meets up with the vine street expressway. all the construction on these ramps have cleared out so that's good news. crews are gone. the lanes are opened on this chunk of 95 and they're opened here in the great northeast along 95 but definitely crowded now in the southbound direction here by cottman avenue. then you hit the brakes again farther south from past the betsy ross bridge into girard. again, all the lanes are passable but they are wet and so traffic is needing to go kind of slowly. have reports of some flooding here in delco along the blue route, 476 close to the broomall upper darby interchange. at this point a lot of that water has receded. traffic is moving okay.

the road remains wet. fire locations, traffic lights not working in the norristown area along west main street at egypt road. we'll keep watching all the situations erin in in just a few minutes. >> thanks matt. another round of severe weather is here and right now mother nature is creating her own light show this morning. reporter katherine scott is riding in mobile6 in pottstown. she joins us live with more. katherine. >> reporter: erin you do want to look out for flooding this morning. at the very least the roads are wet but we have seen some issues such as flooding in pots town we're in mobile6. we're actually not moving at the moment because we want to show you this flooding here on high street by college and you can see the road is completely flooded out here. police have flares up where we are. we know emergency vehicles are positioned up by gable to make sure nobody comes through. let's go to video from a little earlier. a minivan was stuck in these flood waters. police were on scene as the minivan was hooked up to a tow

truck and then hauled away. i know we give these warnings often but here you go one more time, when you see flood waters do not attempt to go through. you do not know what's bee 19 them. really you want to be safe this morning. take a different route and leave extra time. let's go to video from elsewhere in pottstown when the storm moved in earlier. the sky just opened up. a lot of rain came at once and police tell me the calls just started coming in all over town. they did see some sporadic power outages. the lightning has been lighting up the sky for hours now. there's heavy rain, wind as well. we're hearing that a lot of flooding near where we are has drained out but as you take a live look on high street by college you can see there still is flooding here in pottstown after this heavy rain that's fallen this morning and has continued to fall. it does get lighter at times but it's been consistent. so, again, just be careful when you head out the door this morning and keep an eye out for that flooding. live in pottstown, katherine scott channel6 "action news.
