child welfare workers in new jersey. and former president, bill clinton is in philadelphia for the final day of the naacp convention, live report of the details of his address. and flooding caused by heavy rains, some roads are under water and covered with floating trash in atlantic city over in absecon we found a homeowner with flooding on the first floor one of her cars got stuck on the road and people ran into high water wherever they turned. >> i when to the mall up to white horse pike and back, it was a mess, it took me an hour to get home. >> flooding is just part of the issue overnight hundreds of lightning strikes hit the region and karen rogers is in for david murphy standing by with the latest for what we expect for the rest of the day. >> stormtracker 6 live double scan showing at this point we have 364 lightning strikes in

the area but they are currently off the coast where the storms have gone, trenton and wilmington light steady rain and storms blossoming to the south we can go close to this south of dover and route 13 and fortescue and lewes delaware and cape may and right along route 49 it's still getting wet and mays landing as well. you can see in atlantic city the storm is just pulling off and surf city, and the heaviest here near seaside heights. as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan we have this area of low pressure to the south, it's not just that it's moving from west to east, kind of pinwheeling around that, that is why the storms are reigniting, the worst of it will hit in the i-95 corridor and areas east as we are currently seeing and in this wider region i was doing some digging with accuweather, in this area including new york and harrisburg and down towards maryland, we had 9,354

lightning strike from this morning until midnight. so many problems with the storms we had through the region and that is why the flash flood warnings continue aat this point until 12:45, for parts of atlantic, ocean and burlington counties in new jersey be had a flood advisory that just expired but we can see downpours in the area especially in new jerseyth delaware more flooding is possible but i think the worst of this is over, details coming up in just a few minutes. >> karen thank you. lets look live now outside sky 6 hd this is how it looks in center city philadelphia rain coming down and it's cloudy out there, but the worst of rain has moved out for the city and caused plenty of issues overnight. katherine scott is live now along the schuylkill expressway

with more. >> reporter: we were actually not too far away from here when the rain began and there were a couple of drops on our windshield and then the sky opened up. there is a huge difference at this hour, the westbound lanes of the schuylkill the roads are wet but the rain has lightened up incredibly from the heavy storms this morning. thunder boomed across pottstown early this morning, heavy storms moved through dumping rain across our area. when the rain started in pottstown it was like someone turned on a faucet and some spots quickly flooded. high street by college was under water and a minivan got stuck police were on scene when the tow truck was hooked up and hauled away. and lightning strikes across salem, new jersey more strikes

lit up wilmington as the storms rolled through and roads were wet for this morning's commute like here on 422 east, windshield wipers batted away the rain drops in phoenixville fire crews were called to this home on dayton street and people escaped unharmed by their homes were destroyed. the fire marshall was investigating if the fire was lightning related. fire marshalls are on location trying to determine that right now. back here along the schuylkill expressway where the rain is still falling, the roads are wet but the conditions have improved a lot this morning, around here at least the worst of the storms have already moved through. we are are live along the xouk-by city avenue, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. when breaking news or weather happens in your neck of the woods we invite you to join

looks like the lightning is off the coastline in milford and fortescue and cape may and sea isle city, and atlantic city and further into seaside highs a few pockets of rain there, some more in woodbury and pottstown and honey brook and coatesville are all drying out, the rain is trying to push through and lets go outside and see what is looks like, this is our temple university camera we have light rain falling in the city and the clouds are suppressing the temperatures 73 in philadelphia but the dew point is up there. oppressive humidity at 69 degrees, the wins out of the west at 9 miles per hour. and here are reports, limerick 2.1 inches of rain and plainfield, yesterday and today

over 4.5 inches of rain. in franklin township gloucester county nearly 4.33 inches of rain and bass river ocean county they clocked a 60 miles per hour wind gust with a storm that came through. still dealing with the storms that are out there today. satellite 6 along with action radar showing the worst of it hit in the morning hours at this point. we are watching the rain try to end as it sits and spins off the coastline at this point. not a lot of rain to the west to watch, future tracker 6 showing that the worst of it will be in delaware and along the coastline but still a shower here or there, and downpours that could cause flooding concerns for areas that are hit hard and then tonight nothing, the front comes through and we feel a big difference in the western suburbs the possibility of a shower you got a lot of rain eshlier and it's looking better and rain now and heavier pockets here or there.

the real pockets will be in delaware and southern new jersey especially the coastline 80 at 3:00 p.m., a couple of breaks at 5:00 p.m. and 81 and showers here and there especially in south jersey and delaware by 7:00 p.m., 78 and 9:00 p.m. 77 the low is 67 tonight, it will feel good it's unusual for this time of year to have an area of low pressure so strong and organized that moved through our area, and that caused the storms we have starting early in the morning, humid and downpours at times today especially areas philadelphia east, 82 for your high and tomorrow a huge change and breezy and refreshing and dry and 84 we have been craving the sunshine and we are getting it not a bad weekend on saturday and warm and humid and 88 and hot and humid 90 and just a chance of a storm. monday hot and humid and 90
