neighbors. >> devastating. i'm so sorry for her parents. >> reporter: 27-year-old jasmine wright recently graduated from drexel with a master's in environmental and occupational health. she had a bright future mapped out. that ended with a discovery of her body yesterday in the rear bedroom of her third floor apartment near 50th and locust. police say it appeared she has been choked and smothered. they say she was fully clothed and was not sexually assaulted. there were no signs of forced entry so they believe she let the killer into her apartment. she was discovered by the property manager. her father who lives in the bronx asked the manager to check on her because he hadn't heard from her in a couple of days. police believe she had been dead for 24 hours before she was found. jasmine did her undergraduate work at penn state and got her master's from drexel four weeks ago. her classmates and friends have been pouring out their grief on social media. residents of the neighborhood say they worry about the college students who have been moving in lately looking for more affordable housing.

>> they walk around okay but at night that's when to me when it causes problems and they're walking around like they're in the park and we know not to do that here because i've been here for 35 years. >> reporter: police sources say they may have a person of interest but no arrests yet. they're also gathering video surveillance in the neighborhood that they hope will help identify a suspect. live at police headquarters, david henry, channel6 "action news." eva. >> thanks, david. today we learn the names of all four marines killed in that shooting in tennessee. meanwhile investigators are still trying to figure out what led to the deadly attack. we get the latest from abc stephanie ramos in chattanooga. >> reporter: today federal investigators are removing items from the home of the man they've identified as the killinger of four marines in tennessee. that gunman 24-year-old mohammod youssuf abdulazeez an electrical engineer didn't live far from where the shooting rampage occurred that

took the lives of four military heroes. >> this is the event we've been most worried about and then it happens. it's extremely tragic to see an american soldier killed on american soil. >> reporter: eyewitnesses say the marines came under fire from about 15 yards away afterafter he opened fire. he used a high powered rifle. among the dead thomas sullivan seen here in a marine facebook post who served two tours in iraq. the 40-year-old earned a purple heart for injuries he suffered during his active duty tour. skip wells 21 years old from georgia. the bodies of the marine are being brought to dover air force base. security at military recruiting and reserve centers is being reviewed in the wake of the shooting. the white house agrees with the move. >> it is important for to us take necessary steps to ensure that our men and women in uniform are safe.

>> reporter: as authorities search for clues that would explain what motivated the recent engineering grad to commit such a violent act, so far they've found no known links to terrorism. public records indicate abdulazeez has no criminal history aside from a dui in april. the chattanooga community is gathering at this church for a vigil to honor the decorated marines who were killed. stephanie ramos channel6 "action news" chattanooga tennessee. >> police charged a man in a murder they say was motivated by a romantic rival re. 22-year-old zachary ludwig is charged in the death of nicholas mrucek. the victim was killed in north coventry township on wednesday. investigators say ludwig was angry because his ex-girlfriend was dating him. ludwig is being held now at the chester county prison. a philadelphia man is accused of trying to kidnapping a girl in delaware county. police say 65-year-old isaac d

dougba asked a child to get into his white van last night. she ran home and told her mom who then called 911. investigators say dougba was charged in previous abduction attempt at summit and main streets and he was out on bail during that incident last night. >> protesters gathered outside philadelphia police headquarters today demanding the firing of the officers involved in an arrest that was caught on video. the struggle happened back in april when police stopped tyriq harrell as part of a drug investigation in germantown. police said he bit two of the officers and did everything possible to avoid being handcuffed. harrell's family say he was not resisting. they say he was defending himself. today his grandmother nancy joined his legal team and activists to call for his release. they also want access to his medical records and a justice department investigation. >> that video calling him derogatory names beating him

just in an ongoing constant barrage when he was clearly subdued and down is terrible conduct on the part of the police. >> well, this group is also planning a protest tomorrow at noon they will begin at the site of carol's arrest on locust avenue. philadelphia police have opened an internal affairs investigation. they're still trying to identify all of the officers involved. eva. >> a philadelphia police and the fbi are working together to catch the man who robbed a bank in olde city today. they gave us pictures from inside the td bank at fourth and market. investigator its say a man walked in just before 8:00 a.m. today threatened a teller then took some cash and ran off. they think the same man robbed a td bank on south 11th street two days ago. police do consider him armed and dangerous. they're asking anyone with information to call them. >> well, it is just about a perfect afternoon out there low humidity, not a cloud in the sky as we get a check of the accuweather forecast.

>> oh, but how long will it last? let's go find out from meteorologist adam joseph. hey, adam. >> it's not going to last long. the clouds are beginning to march in from the west, the humidity is going the start to increase over the weekend as a warm front passes through but not bad as we close out the week. present numbers, 82 in philadelphia and many areas just in the upper 70's from reading, wilmington, millville and at the shore we've got a sea breeze with temperatures there also in the upper 70's. but as we look to the west on double scan live radar there's a warm front draped in the western part of pennsylvania and west of washington. that's going to swing through here during the overnight hours tonight. that's going to introduce that tropical humidity again and also spark a couple of showers off a little later tonight. so overnight it turns humid with a late shower possible. early tomorrow morning it's muggy with a lot of clouds and then tomorrow afternoon the clouds are really going try to fight the sun. some breaks of sun tomorrow afternoon and there's also the chance of a pop-up thunderstorm in the afternoon with some energy that rolls through. but then the second half of

we have a tow truck there. cause something delays there. you can see only taking about 18 minutes. not too bad getting through there. they tried to move that over to the side. speeds though across the region nice and slow in the teens out there. 12 miles per hour on the schuylkill expressway. taking a look out near king of prussia 17 miles per hour out there on 202. you can see the blue route nice and slow as well and of course 95 the whole stretch is very slow. we're going to go over to a picture of the schuylkill expressway. here are our eastbound lanes as they're making their way up towards the walt whitman bridge. as you suspect a lot of people heading to the shore this weekend so again it's just slow going out there. have a lot of patience this afternoon. taking a look at the 42 freeway, this is right at creek road and these are our southbound lanes. taking about 25 minutes right now to go from the walt whitman bridge down to the atlantic city expressway. not looking too badly if you're heading up in those northbound lanes. talking about a few incidents out there. plymouth township ridge pike and conshohocken road we have a water main break to report. and we have a motorcycle

were brought into the radnor police station late last night. undercover officers arranged to meet the women at a local hotel through adult web sites. the three women and two men who took them to the hotel are facing prostitution charges. >> turns out more planes had trouble with lacers this week than originally thought. at least 11 plains reported shun shining a laser into the cockpit. now the faa says it's investigating 23 similar incidents on the same night across its country. it's a federal crime and the faa says it can cause serious problems for the pilots. the fbi is investigating but agents say they're not sure if the incidents are related. >> well, one of the google self-driving cars was just in an accident that involved injuries for the very first time. everyone is expected to be okay after someone rear ended the google car which did have people inside of it even though none was driving. other drivers have hit a self driving car 14 times since

2009 but it's never resulted in any injuries. analysts say it shows that while google's cars may work on their own there's still some work to do to account for mistakes other drivers can and will make on the road. the news did not exactly hurt google's stock today which soared above 700 at times today closing numbers right here the biggest single day gains since 2008. in the meantime the dow down about 34 points, the nats dac up 47 points to close at a record high. the s & p picked up two points but gained two and a half percent on the week. google is a big winner there. we have a recall alert involving chickens. aspen foods is pulling 2 million pounds off the shelves. the affected products have p-1 358 and the u.s.d.a. inspection mark. federal officials say three people in minnesota have already gotten sick as a result. earlier this week barber foods

also recalled nearly 2 million pounds frozen chicken also because of salmonella concerns. >> rutgers university says it's raising tuition for the upcoming school year. the school's board of governors voted to increase tuition and fees by 2.3 percent. the school says it needs the money because of rising costs and decreasing money from the state. in state tuition will go up about $300. a student group had called for a tuition freeze saying the hike is unnecessary given the school's increased revenue. some middle school girls are becoming little business women and learning what it takes to get a startup off the ground. they jumped right into the dolphin school, a friendlier version of the abc hit show the shark tank. now don't let the smiles and giggles fool you. for the last week, these 11 to 14-year-olds have been learning how to start their own tech businesses. their projects range from sports to game to go saving animals and today they got the

chance to stand in front of some real life investors. >> we've learned how to do an elevator pitch and stuff like that so i think that was pretty fun. >> we have learned a lot about business and working with other people like on a big project. >> i learned a lot about marketing strategies because that really helps get the word out and interact with the people who will buy your product. so eventually they'll become loyal customers because you stay like active with them. >> right. impressive. the goal of the camp is to teach the girls the basic tools of becoming tech entrepreneurs and helping them connect with other techie girls like themselves and in the end everyone got a backer. some smart cookies there. we'll have to remember those names, eva. >> i know, watch out. delaware valley middle schoolers became nasa engineers for the day. they had 35 minutes to design and build a shock absorbing system for a lander that would safely deliver an astronaut to mars and they were restricted

to household materials like plastic cups and pipe cleaners. each lander was tout a test during a 2-meter drop. this challenge was just one fun part of a two week science camp hosted by temple university. >> and that was your smart kid block. >> brilliant. >> all right, time now for a check of the accuweather forecast. >> let's head over to adam joseph. we're all scratching our heads still. >> i just want to be that kid that's riding the waves right now in sky6 live in cape may. you can see a lot of those blue umbrellas, they are up, a lot of folks at the shore enjoying a very nice end to the week. we've got a sea breeze at the shore right now with temperatures around 78 in beach haven, 81 on the boardwalk as well as sea isle city. again that water temperature is pretty warm so you don't get much of a drop from inland locations, at least this time of year. 79 wilmington, 79 in reading and allentown coming in at 80 degrees. 90-degree days so far this year we've been right on the edge of where there really hasn't been any to where there's been a surplus.

we've had 10 days so far this year. that's a little below normal. we will make up for that over the next week but new york city only one day of 90 or above the summer season, zero in boston and down to the south you can see they've been cooking from washington down to raleigh, 22 to as much as 26 days so far this summer season above 90. satellite and radar clouds are on the increase from the west and you can see a stripe of showers west of state college. this is a warm front. that will push through during the overnight hours. so, temperatures tonight a little warmer than the last couple of nights, 68 allentown, 70 philadelphia. millville 69 degrees. 70 in dover and low 70's at the shore. again, some late showers come in but it should be after the midnight hour that we see some of them and not everyone is going to get wet tonight. 4:30 in the morning, you can see that stripe of showers east of philadelphia, trenton as that warm front migrates to the north and east and as we get into saturday, we start with a lot of clouds in the morning and clouds are going to fight the sun throughout

shake a lot of the clouds away the second half of the weekend on saturday but that's when we have a surge of the heat and humidity that will turn dangerous. 95 feeling close to 100 to 105 degrees sunday afternoon and then it stays steamy, stormy at times monday of 92. still hot on tuesday of 90, a little less humid. so although we've only had 10 days so far this year, we're going to tag probably another four on at least in that seven-day forecast and there could be a couple of more. i'll show you the numbers coming up. you're shaking your head. >> it just seems like it's making me hot already. >> ♪♪ >> delaware news room five people were hurt when an argument led to a car wreck in wilmington. it started around midnight on east 25th street. police say a man and woman were arguing when the woman jumped into a jeep with a small child and drove onto the sidewalk. she hit three people, two parked cars and crashed into a fence. everyone is expected to survive. police haven't told us if they plan to charge anyone involved. >> workers at the trump taj mahal authorized a strike against that casino. they're still waiting for a federal appeals court ruling on whether the casino has to restore health insurance and pension benefits that it scrapped last year. the union that voted for the strike represents about a thousand service workers but not any of the dealers in the casino. the vote means those workers can strike if they think they need to but there is no strike set as of right now. the the taj's current owner billionaire carl icahn says he'll close the casino if courts force him to reinstate those costly benefits.

"action news" reporter trish hartman is live in north philadelphia with more on what police are doing to find that shooter. trish. >> reporter: well, eva police spent the day pouring over surveillance video looking for leads. so far no suspect in the shooting that injured a 32-year-old woman from olney who police say was on her way home from a night out with friends. detectives worked for hours in the businesses near the scene looking for footage that may help their investigation. they hope video from the china bull restaurant may help them identify witnesses or suspects. the owner of the e and i deli says cops were here for three hours looking at surveillance. the store's cameras were rolling when a 32-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet inside her car. police say the woman was driving home with two female friends from the yolo cafe when she heard the shots and kept driving. >> she got to the intersection of 17th and consumed, she realized that she felt main her back and she realized she had been shot. >> reporter: the vic

testimony was taken into surgery at temple university hospital and was upgraded to stable condition. her two passengers were uninjured. police say 10 bullet casings were found at the scene along with what they believe to be crack cocaine. >> a lot of drugs around here. i don't know, it's very different. >> reporter: and no word if detectives were able to find anything useful from that surveillance video they viewed today. again, no suspects yet. if you have any information about what happened last night, philadelphia police would like to hear from you. we're live in north philadelphia trish hartman channel6 "action news." eva. >> thanks trish. a separate drive by shooting wounded two more men in north philadelphia tonight. this happened at the intersection of north front and west clearfield streets around 2:00 a.m. police say the victims ages 42 and 35 were both slot in the arm. they're being treater at temple hospital. no arrests have been made. investigators have not said if they think this shooting was related to the one at 17th street and susquehanna avenue. >> a deadly accident for septa

stopped service for hours today between media and center city. officials say a man fell onto the tracks near the an gore are a station in southwest philadelphia around 12:30. he was hit by a train coming from media towards center city and was pronounced dead at the scene. police have not released his name at this hour. septa service was suspended on the entire line until 3 o'clock this afternoon. two dads from south jersey have been charged for a bloody brawl that was caught on camera. this is the video showing michael barbella of vendor nor and michael duffy and mays landing beating each other up. it happened at a softball tournament in maryland. according to police barbella drove to the tournament to confront duffy over an ongoing dispute concerning the team on which their daughters once played together. the local police chief was clearly disappointed in these men but also in the man who stopped to film this fight. >> is somebody getting hurt? could i call help? could i

get authorities here quickly? could i get medical personnel here quickly? >> well, barbella and duffy both bruised as you see and now both charged with second degree assault and disorderly conduct. >> delaware state police are trying to determine if a car that carved a path of destruction through new castle this morning was stolen. investigators say this car ended up crashing into a fence off frenchtown road around 8:30 a.m. shortly before that accident the driver allegedly sideswiped several other cars while on route 13. >> i'm driving up 13, this car comes up alongside of me on my left hand side, sideswiped the car, took the mirror off. >> the driver eventually lost control of this car after slamming into a minivan which flipped and hit a telephone pole. he then bailed and ran into a nearby neighborhood. nobody was seriously hurt. the driver is still on the loose. it took firefighters less than 30 minutes to knock down a blaze in this wilmington row home today. when they first got to the 800

block of east seventh street just after 1:15, firefighters found flames shooting from the back of the second floor. it was out by 1:45. officials say one family member who was not home at the time had to be treated after she lost her breath running back to the scene. the red cross is now assisting four adults and seven children displaced by that fire. >> dozens of people had their travel plans disrupted because of a threat written a bathroom stall at philadelphia international airport. american airlines flight 672 had boarded when someone discovered the graffiti inside the terminal. authorities have not revealed just yet exactly what the note said but they evacuated that plane as a precaution and then rechecked everyone's bags. eventually officials gave the all-clear. passengers reboarded and talk off for san francisco as originally planned but of course just a little bit late. >> better stock up on the deodorant before tomorrow.

persistent wind coming in out of the southeast off of that marine layer of air over the ocean. as we look at satellite and radar we have a warm front draped just to our west. that warm front is going to push through a little later tonight. it's going to throw clouds our way which it already is across much of the area and eventually we'll break a couple of showers out late tonight, early tomorrow morning. in fact, tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock, future tracker this is the very latest model run showing that there could be a couple of downpours in parts of the area first thing tomorrow morning. then as the warm front pulls to the north, we'll have hazy sunshine tomorrow but the sky will be a very like 50-50 shot of sun and clouds. it's not going to be as bright as it was today and in the afternoon at 4:30, you can see there is some scattered downpours and thunderstorms around the region. not everyone is going to see them tomorrow but it is a possibility that you could get hit by a quick downpour or thunderstorm for the beginning of the weekend. in addition to that, it's going to be one of the hottest weekends in fact the hottest
