"action news" reporter jeff chirico joins us live at police headquarters with the very latest, jeff. >> reporter: hi, walter, i spoke with philadelphia police late this evening. they tell me they to in fact have a person of interest they are questioning inside police headquarters. they are not saying much about him other than that he is a 56 year-old man that jasmine wright knew, this coming just two days after her body was found in her west philadelphia apartment. >> we struck up a conversation one time when she first moved in. she was pleasant. she was love and peace. >> reporter: a teddy bear hangs to the door to the apartment where jasmine wright was found dead thursday afternoon.

news that detectives, now have a person of interest is a welcome development for those living on the 200 block of south 50th street. >> i hope the detective are doing their job whatever just hope they panned out that is all because she didn't deserve it. >> reporter: wright recently graduated from drexel university school of public health, her body was found after her father a had trouble contacting her and asked the property manager to check her apartment. police say wright was beaten and strangled and may have men her attacker since there were no signs of forced entry. at police headquarters investigators confirmed they have questioned a 56 year-old man that wright knew. meanwhile wright's family grieves the loss of the woman with the bright future, neighbor keith hooks, says he offered his condolences to wright's parents when they visited the apartment building hours earlier. >> i just let them know that we are praying for her and that we're or that i this happened to her and that it shouldn't have happened to anybody. >> reporter: police say that they are questioning that person of interest, but not

calling this person a suspect just yet. of course we will bring you very latest right here on "action news". reporting live from police headquarters, jeff chirico for channel six "action news". >> thanks, jeff. fire fighters had to deal with unknowns when they responded to a fire at the the hat before he federal savings bank this morning. crew where is called to the scene on york road there just before 11:30. there they found heavy fire shooting from the basement. that is when they heard an explosion. not knowing what caused it all first responders pulled back. businesses and neighbors had to be evacuated and gas main was shut down. no injuries, have been reported and the cause of the explosion remains unknown tonight. from our delaware news room wilmington police are investigating a double shooting there it happened a bit before 5:00 tonight near a convenient store at concord and washington street. investigators say they found one victim inside the store who had been shot twice. the other victim was found outside on the street. emergency crews took both to christiana a hospital. so far no arrests in this case. well police in fill after just released this

surveillance video taken a at danny's midnight confessions on south 13th street in center city just before 4:00 a.m. investigators say a man was angry about the product selection inside of the adult book store there and shot and wounded the clerk. investigators say the gun manmade a negative comment about the gay merchandise and then left. he came back a few minutes later and pulled out a gun. a struggle ensued between the gun man and clerk and that is when the weapon went off. the clerk was struck in the back. he remains in stable condition at jefferson hospital, and the gun man remains on the loose tonight. traffic is back to normal after a tanker truck was involved in the a crash on i-95 northbound in delaware. state police say right around 5:20 this evening a septa truck went off the highway at the 295 split just south of the new port exit. truck rolled over several times. investigators say one person was injured, but no further information has been released at this time. it was a frightening scene in springfield delaware county as you can see right there when a truck caught fire on busy route one. it happened this afternoon

near springfield road. the driver was a able to escape uninjured as would you imagine this resulted in traffic slowing to a crawl along the north bound lanes in that area. and it was a truly terrifying scene on a highway in southern california yesterday as flames from a wild fire traveled across the roadway trapping commuters. many simply abandoned their cars and took off running. tonight we have learn that fire fighters say they were delayed a half an hour because of the drones. officials received the first call during rush hour on friday. as callers began to panic stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, fire crews requested jet and chop tours help put down those flames but five drones were found flying in the area, so to protect the pilots the fire fighter planes had to be grounded for 26 minutes until the drones were gone this was the fourth time in as many weeks that drones have interfered with efforts, by fighting wild fire in southern california. all right. moving on to our coverage of the vote 2016 and

controversial comments are nothing new for donald trump but today he is drawing fire from his own party. that is because this is what trump had to say today about senator john mccain during a candidates forum in iowa. >> in the war era because he was captured. i like people that weren't captured, i a hate to say. >> mccain was wounded captured and tortured in vietnam. he spent five years in prison by his captors and suffered permanent injuries to his arms. reaction to trump's comments have been swift. republican national committee issued a statement saying there is in place in our party or our country for comments that disparage those who have served honorably. trump tried to clarify saying mccain isn't doing enough to support american veterans. tonight, heat was no deterrent for hundreds of lucky girls in medford, new jersey who were offered a chance to meet a true local sports hero. delran native and world cup champion carli lloyd hosted a soccer camp where she taught those youngsters about soccer, life and being a champion.

2,000 people, clashed during a opposing demonstrations on the grounds of the south carolina state house this afternoon. black educators of justice were there to support the removal of the confederate flag but members of the ku klux klan also showed up to protest its removal. five people were arrested. activist are putting more pressure on investigators looking into eric garner's death. they held a vigil rally outside the federal courthouse in brooklyn today demanding actions. supporters want prosecutors to indict the police office shore put garner in the deadly choke hold the yesterday marked within year since garner's death. a sailor clit critically injured curing an attack in chattanuga tennessee died from his wound today. navy petty officer second class randall smith became the fifth fatality after a gunman opened fire on the naval reserve center a and their by recruiting office. investigators are following new leads about the shooter mohammad youssef abdulazeez, officials tell abc news he spent several months in the middle east last year.
