street -- 2000 block of juniper street. the fire spread to four homes. firefighters struck a second and third alarm. >> "action news" reporter, trish hartman is live in south philadelphia with all the breaking details. trish? >> reporter: eva and nydia, the fire is under control but crews will be out here for several hours working. no injuries, but heavy damage to the residential building that was under construction on juniper street. the fire commissioner said it took an hour and 45 minutes to get the fire under control. crews are working here. we're near the corner of broad and snyder. a number of street closures because of the on going effort. no injuries reported let's go to video from earlier this morning. firefighters got the call around 3:30 a.m. flames shooting from the top of the buildings when crews arrived. firefighters put out a second and third alarm. once they got here the second floor collapsed into the first floor. the fire spread into four homes

on snyder avenue. the home sustained damage to the outside. police officers went door to door excavating 17 residents on juniper across the street from the building. police told the residents to move to the school yard. a man said he saw two people in the buildings before it went up in flames. >> around 23:03 p.m., i heard a window break i seen a guy with a black hoodie interest the building, at the same time i seen a spanish male on the roof. i seen the one guy leave the scene as he left the scene he ran east toward snyder avenue the whole building exploded. >> now that man had just wrapped up his discussion giving that information to police, so detective's have that information. the fire commissioner said the cause ask under investigation it's an on going investigation

downingtown. everybody else has heat indices of 100. same thing for millville lakehurst mid to upper 90s. the numbers will climb throughout the day. take it easy. use common sense, the excessive heat warning is on, stay hydrated. splaskt if you -- as a matter of fact if you know you're going to be out door, hydrate take frequent breaks under shaded conditions and stay out of the sun or limit your sun explorer if at all possible. the numbers get dangerous this afternoon with the feels-like temperatures. your body works hard enough when the temperatures are in the 90s, when you add on the humidity you have to work twice as hard to keep yourself cool. sun and clouds, hazy, hot humid the good news as we look ahead

apology. >> trump has called the vietnam war a disaster for our country. he said he avoided service in the vietnam war through student and medical deferments. we'll have reaction from our presidential contenders in the next half-hour. >> a philadelphia police officer is in the hospital after her patrol car slammed into a tree. the action cam was on the scene 11th and rails streets in center city. around 2:45 the officer's car went out of control and hit the tree. the investigators say she was not responding to a police call. she was taken to hanheman university hospital. her injuries are described as minor. >> we're following breaking news from south philadelphia. >> a multi-alarm fire erupted overnight. we've covering it all. >> new video of flash flooding in phoenix.

tracker 2:00 p.m., 100 for philadelphia and wilmington. that's where we'll hover this afternoon between 100 and 105 for the feels like temperature. 10:30, the heat indices are closing in on 100 for philadelphia. 100 for dover. wilmington and millville 99. everybody from philadelphia and points south the triple digit heat. poconos even though that temperature looks cooler, high humidity levels makes it uncomfortable. sun and clouds, 81 degrees, that's the forecasted high for the jersey shore. ocean temperature 73, 74. up to 85. that's a cooler number. with the high humidity levels it will not feel that comfortable. mostly sunny delaware bay doing fishing this morning, make sure you're wearing the sunscreen. high tide at 12:30, winds out of the southwest at 5 to 10. failure calm seas, less than one

an update on breakfasting news, the intersection of broad and snyder is closed to traffic because of a three-alarm fire in the area. 100 firefighters are on the scene. 17 people have been evacuated and they are out of their homes. the fire started on the 2000 block of juniper street where we'll continue to update you this morning. rare southern rain in drought-ridden southern california is getting rain to help battle a wildfire. the fire started under the he will vertibrate -- elevated lanes of interstate 15. drivers and passengers had to run from their cars to escape the flames. the flames destroyed 20 vehicles. the fire scorched 8 1/2 square miles. there were two minor injuries. police are looking for tahman in connection with the

death of three children and two adults. detectives say 30-year-old martin martinez of medesdo is a person of interest. officers do do not know his rip to the victims. so far investigators have not indicated how the five people died. emotions are running high again this weekend over the confederate flag. two thousand people clashed in a demonstrations on the grounds of the south carolina state house. black educators of justice were there to support the remove of the flag. members of the ku klux klan showed up protesting it's removal. five people were arrested.

firefighters told me the fire is completely out on juniper street, but crews remain on scene. firefighters are packing up gear right now and smoke continues to rise from the building on the two thousand block of juniper street. no injuries reported, but heavy damage to the residential building that was under crux construction. we're at the corner of broad and snyder. a number of road closures so you want to avoid the area. let's go to video early this morning, the call came in as a garbage fire. firefighters got here and the flames were shooting from the roof. firefighters put out a second and third alarm. the fire collapsed into the third floor into the second floor. officials say they worked quickly to keep the fire from getting to the inside of neighboring homes. they were damaged on the outside. the plaintiffs went door to do -- police officers went door

to door excavating 17 residents. police told residents to move to south philadelphia high school to be helped by the red cross. we spoke to residents. >> i got a knock on the door at 3:30 i woke up my three room mates, we came out of the house the firefighters said we have to evacuate because there were embers from the fire landing on the roof. you can see the fire licking at the rooftops. >> i got a pounding on a door saying you have to evacuate there's a fire across the street it's really bad. >> reporter: the fire commissioner said the cause is under investigation, there are surveillance cameras in this area and investigators will be looking at that footage as they try to figure out out a cause more than 100 firefighters at the scene, no injuries but a dozen people are waiting to get back into their homes.

rittenhouse hotel over four days. >> an early morning two car crash in the wissinoming section of philadelphia has seriously injured one of the drivers. the action cam was on scene on tacony street. the vehicles ran into each other at 1:25, a man in his 30s was thrown from his car. the he is being treated for significant injuries the other driver was minor injuries. police have released surveillance video of a shooting at an adult book store in center city. the gunfire rang out on south 13th street at 4:00 a.m. a man who was angry about the product selection inside the adult book store shot and wounded the clerk. the gunman made a negative comment about the gay merchandise and left of course he came back a few minutes later and pulled out a gun. a struggle ensued between the

plains and now it's shifting east moving along the eastern seaboard the neck few days, it will snap back when we get into tuesday, for the next 48 hours we have uncomfortable stuff on the way. these are actual air temperatures, 4:30 95 degrees, trenton, 94, wilmington, 91. tomorrow afternoon 94, 95, same thing. you factor in the humidity, feels like 100 by 3:00 p.m. later this afternoon and just about the same exact thing come monday morning. by 11:00 a.m. we're seeing triple digit heat. by afternoon most of the area, south jersey and delaware and extreme southeastern portion of pha feels-like temperatures will feel like 100 if not higher. poconos combination of sun and clouds extremely humid in the mountains. same thing for the jersey shore. winds out of the southwest some areas might pick up a slight breeze off the water.
