shootings in the city's kensington section that happened overnight. >> one person was killed and a teenager was caught in the crossfire of another. let's go to katherine scott on the scene on waterloo street with all the details. >> tam and eva we just learned new information initially police were investigate this as two separate shootings authorities are telling us they are likely connected. they did happen around the corner of each other. police cleared the scene at howard and kensington. it is around here where a 15 -year-old was injured he was caught in the crossfire, a car nearby was shot 6 times. nobody was inside the car at the time. the teenager was grazed in the arm and went to saint christopher's hospital with his

mother, he is in stable condition. around same time police found a man shot twice. he was shot once in the head, one in the back, police believe he is between 25 and 30 years old, but they have not been able to identify him yet. the circumstances around these shootings remain under investigation. police have evidence at both scenes. they believe they are connected they don't know how or what what happened here, they are gathering evidence and looking for surveillance foot, and, of course, stay with "action news" for updates live in kensington, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." police are investigating a double shooting that left a person dead that happened past 1:00 a.m. on the the 4600 block of unrue avenue in tacony. a 21-year-old man was shot several times and died from his wounds. a 28-year-old man is hospitalized is in critical condition. three men were seen running from

the scene. a prison guard is on the mend after a shocking attack. an inmate stabbed him ten times at curran-fromhold correctional facility. holmes was making his rounds when an inmate approached him from behind. the officer was stabbed several times. >> the correction officers walk the toughest beats in the city of philadelphia. they are locked in with inmates. although we don't complain about the job it's a dangerous job. >> the officer was treated at the hospital, the suspect here, matthew early has been behind bars for firing shots into a septa train in 2012 striking two men after an argument over sports team. he'll undergo a mental health valuation. a 16-year-old was with a

group of friends when he dropped his shirt at the train tracks, he went back to get the shirt when he was rushed by a passing train. he suffered a few bruises. >> philadelphia police need your help in finding an armed bank robber. he held up the pnc at broad and allegheny. he walked into the bank with a semi automatic handgun. he took off after getting $12,000 in cash, if you recognize him, contact the fbi or philadelphia police. and we are down to about two months before pope francis arrives in philadelphia for the world meeting of families. we're hearing from new jersey officials about their plans. patco high speed line will be a reliable source for people in new jersey who would like to come in and see the pope. the head of the drpa said the ben franklin bridge will be open to walkers for sure.

out there this morning 58 degrees in allentown, 71 in philadelphia. still kind of warm in the city. 63 in millville at this early hour. satellite and radar showing you how there's cloud cover out there this morning, it's thinning out i expect we'll get sunshine in failure quickly today. we'll hold it for the day. allentown, 82 degrees is the high mostly sunny warm obviously, but on the nice side with humidity low. down the shore 82 degrees the high there. sunscreen is necessary you'll have enough sun to warrant that. nice and warm, in the 70s in the water. in philadelphia. 85 degrees this afternoon, mostly sunny nice and warm, low humidity wind out of the northwest at 6 to 12 miles per hour. that direction of the wind is

good, because as i mentioned yesterday, we up in the northern and western territories we have dry good quality air. 79 by 11:00 in the mid 80s with the high of 85 around 3:00 p.m. or so. high pressure will be with us through the next couple of days. through saturday we're looking at it being the dominant weather feature keeping us relatively sunny and warm as circulation is generally from the north. the high will get off the coast and we'll draw in slightly humid air from the south. there's no tropical systems forming right now. at some point later next week there's something along the east coast, but that's a small poability. possibility. for now anyone plans

right now. i-95 traffic moving nicely past the scutter falls bridge. on the bridge southbound we have construction blocking a lane. it will be out there for another hour and a and a half. on the penn turnpike we have construction near the delaware valley interchange. we're looking at slower speeds, but they will pick up as the construction crews get out of the way. pennsylvania turnpike, willow grove, construction but it will be getting out of there shortly. shake and bake out there reporting there's something on the shoulder. 58 degrees in quakertown. 59 in coatsville. low humidity, temperatures just right. 72 warmer, in center city.
