[speaking foreign language] >> reporter: what he did was bad. there's a god in the sky. he'll have to pay. words of a grieving mother about the hit and run driver who killed her son francis arroyo. >> loving man. he loved his family. this whole family is very close. >> reporter: natalie hall says arroyo was a factory worker and father of two who worked on cars on the side

including hers. >> just a tragic tragic loss and now those kids have to grow up without a father. >> reporter: the crash happened at 10:00 last night near luzerne and i street. arroyo's brother osvaldo was driving the car and sustained injuries. he says he and his brother were working on this van before they left to take francis home. he says an suv hit his car as he tried to make a u-turn in front of his house. police found the suv a couple miles away. >> what's good about this is the 911 call led us to where vehicle was. apparently followed the vehicle for quite some time to ninth and rising sun where the person got out of the vehicle and left. >> reporter: police are searching for the vehicle's owner to help determine who was driving it last night. meanwhile the family is looking for their dog max who ran from the crash he's important to the care of osvaldo's special needs son. paul is his nurse. >> hopefully someone has him and we're hoping that they'll have a heart and realize that it will help the healing process for the entire family.

>> reporter: and this afternoon the family started hanging these lost dog posters hoping to spread the word. they're asking anyone who may find little max to bring him here to the arroyo home on the 1000 block of east luzerne. now os for the police investigation, police say if you know where they may find albert company van gangs they ask you to give them a call. >> thank you jeff. philadelphia police are awaiting the extradition of a stabbing suspect from maryland. investigators say steven burton stabbed his wife danecia berrian burton and their 21 month old daughter early yesterday morning. the incident happened in a home in the 1900 block of dallas street in west oak lane. the victims are in critical condition. burton was captured in maryland last night. there could be a pop-up storm here and there this evening but the big story from accuweather, the heat is preparing to move into the

area for the rest of the week and so is the humidity. live at the "action news" big board meteorologist cecily tynan. cecily, it looks like another heat wave is in the offing. >> that's exactly right jim. looks like tomorrow will be the beginning of heat wave number three. today is a very muggy day. but the temperature really not oppressive, 84 degrees in philadelphia. down from our high of 86 which is actually 1 degree below normal for this date. however, if you look much wider, you can see a lot of 90's across the plain states, in the midwest we're looking at mid to upper 90's and that heat and humidity will be heading in our direction. so, we're looking at heat wave number three beginning tomorrow. forecast highs 92 degrees tomorrow. 96 on wednesday. if we hit that, that will be the hottest day so far of the year. 94 on thursday. wednesday and thursday with the humidity, the heat index will be up around 100. so again, we are talking about dangerous heat. so, how will it feel the next three days? we're looking at

city plans to close down and secure chunks of the city for the pope's visit. live in the fairmount section of philadelphia, "action news" reporter sarah bloomquist. sarah, where do we really stand on all of this? >> reporter: jim officials maintain it's still a work in progress that requires careful coordination at the local and federal levels. still, people who live like here in the fairmount park section, near the parkway they wander details specific so they can make plans. the mayor says they'll get them and warned them today not to believe everything they read online from unofficial sources: here in the fairmount section, neighbors are wondering what exactly the papal visit will mean for them. some said they need specifics now. others are more willing to wait. >> i'm okay with it. i think it's for a good cause and it's great for the city. >> ii would like to know. i would like to be prepared because i have a business to run. so i would like to know a little bit more information about it. >> reporter: but today the mayor warned residents and their desire for details not

to rely on unofficial sources. over the weekend a map circulated on some web site purporting to show a wide security perimeter along the parkway and beyond. >> i want to be very, very clear with all of you. no official security perimeter has been announced or fully and finally determined. >> reporter: the mayor said philadelphia is ak custom to hosting large events on the parkway and as always specifics will be released in a timely and official manner. although in the case of the papal visit, there are increased security concerns. >> i am not planning to give every nut case in the universe a significant amount of advanced information from a security standpoint as to exactly where and when and how and what route pope francis is going to be transported. >>transport. >> this is such an incredible opportunity for our city. let's embrace it.

life-threatening. chopper 6hd was over the scene this morning and found liquid and gas coming out from under a freight train tanker. investigators say 100 gallons of hydrogen peroxide spilled. officials did not have to order any evacuations. the cause of the fire that forced hundreds of camden county residents to evacuate their apartments is still unknown tonight. the fire at the cooper river apartment complex on north park drive in pennsauken began just after midnight. firefighters went floor by floor to make sure the 350 residents got out safely. the blaze was contained to a first floor office. and investigators are still searching to find out what sparked this house fire in bucks county. firefighters called for backup when they arrived on the scene on the 500 block of clover lane in perkasie. the fire broke out just before 6:30 this morning and fortunately nobody was hurt. well, tonight a new castle county council is scheduled to

hear a proposal for opening a stock exchange in delaware. a new company the delaware board of trade holdings is pitching the idea and asking for a $15 million bond from the county. the proposed stock exchangey change would be headquartered in women to. it would have two electronic trading systems, one for u.s. and foreign securities, the the other for small and medium sized businesses. bulls and bears running in wilmington. coming up on "action news" tonight, police in south jersey are searching for a man who held up a cvs pharmacy and they're investigating whether same man is behind at least two other robberies in the delaware valley. with just six days before eagles training camp ducis rodgers gets a breakdown of what to expect from the team from sal pal antonio. and cecily tynan is back with the accuweather forecast when "action news" continues tonight.

>> the philadelphia man is in critical condition tonight after being shot several times during a home invasion robbery in mayfair. police say he got into a fight with two men who kicked in his back door along the 4700 block of oakmont street. investigators are still looking for the two suspects who ran from the scene. the victim's girlfriend was also home at the time but she was not hurt. police in burlington county are searching for the robber who held up a cvs pharmacy and now they're working to see if the same man is behind similar crimes in other communities. "action news" reporter chad pradelli has the story from burlington township. >> reporter: sunday morning 7:00 a.m., police say the

suspect walked into the cvs on the 1000 block of neck road and announced a robbery. >> brandishes a handgun and orders the two employees, one the shift manager and the cashier, up to the office where the safe was and instructed the manager at the time to open the safe where he removed an undisclosed amount of cash. >> reporter: burlington police say the suspect initially approached one of the cvs employees as she was picking up some newspapers that had been delivered. the suspect asked her if the pharmacy was opened. she said yes and he then followed her inside. >> the suspect manages to conceal his identity, his facial features throughout the store in the office he pulls his shirt up over his face and his head is down when he walks into the cvs initially. >> reporter: the crime is the fourth cvs robbery in recent weeks from newtown bucks county, to delaware. this guy is wanted for a robbery in wilmington two weeks ago. he looks similar to the

suspect in sunday's case and these are images of two suspects who robbed a cvs in aston. in that case the employees were tied up before the thieves made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. >> i've been contacting these various agencies and i'm trying to determine if there is a connection between these other robberies. >> reporter: in burlington new jersey, chads pradelli, channel6 "action news"." >> thick black smoke billowing from a septa manhole trade drivers in west philadelphia this morning. chopper 6hd was over the scene at 34th and girard. police blocked the intersection as septa engineers tried to determine the source of the problem. the off ramp from i-76 was temporarily closed. eventually the smoke subsided and septa still hasn't said what caused the smoke in the first place. pennsylvania senator bob casey is pushing to expand a program that provides nutritious meals to children in need. today casey visited the ymca

>> we are beginning what will be the hottest week of the season so far and hopefully the hottest week of the season period. >> hopefully. i know people are getting tired of the heat and humidity but it's coming right back. storm tracker6 live double scan showing that we don't have a lot of shower activity to cool us off but there's one real heavy downpour in mercer county north of trenton right near pennington. we've had six lightning strikes in this view and you can see how this is just sitting there with the high humidity, we are dropping a lot of rain in a short period of time so definitely be careful driving around pennington, crossing route 31. taking a look in atlantic city where this is going to be the place to be the next several days by the ocean where you get that sea breeze. it will really cool things down but we are looking at heat wave number three on the way. so, the accuweather highlights will show that you poor air quality is forecast in parts of the region tomorrow with

that heat and humidity so definitely a good idea if you have respiratory problems to limit your time outdoors because it will be unhealthy for sensitive groups who have respiratory or heart problems. in the meantime we're looking at that heat and humidity building as we head towards thursday and i really think thursday will be the most oppressive day of the heat wave. we're looking at a heat index thursday early in the afternoon tong 100 along the high. 95 corridor and areas south and east. if you remember a week ago sunday our heat index reached 105 so it probably won't be quite that bad. when you get heat indices above 100 it's dangerous. right now it's muggy and warm. 84 degrees in philadelphia, allentown, reading also 84, wilmington 81, millville 81. that sea breeze really cooling things off at the shore. sea isle city currently 76 and the boardwalk in atlantic city 78 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing most of our shower and thunderstorm

ocean city. the ocean temperature 74 degrees. rehoboth and bethany reaching a high of 84. so the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, it's a hot one. hazy, hot and humid tomorrow. 92 degrees. we bump it up to 96 on wednesday. the heat index close to 100. thursday 94 but the heat index likely just above 100. some afternoon thunderstorms with a weak cold front behind that front it won't be quite as oppressive on friday. not quite as humid. a high near 90. if we hit 89, the heat wave will officially be over. however, the heat builds over the week. 92 degrees on saturday. sunday a summer sis owe sizzle 92 and monday not much relief with a high around 90 degrees. so really the worst of it appears to be thursday but this heat wave could last for more than a week. >> let's get to february already. >> let's skip fall.
