and coming up a heart-pounding chase through two states and numerous communities as police try to nab an armed robbery suspect. the dramatic ending next.

for an hour and 40 minutes tonight police chase add white van through south jersey into philadelphia, back into south jersey, and finally into philadelphia again. at times, it was high speed, at times it was slow speed. but finally it was no speed. as a philadelphia trooper brought this bizarre odyssey to an end. monday night, the big story on "action news," the night-long effort to catch a thief. it began at 8:00 with what they call a shotgun robbery. the police began a slow chase towards the walt whitman bridge. the driver went over the bridge into a navy yard where it hit a police car. the oaklyn police were still giving chase as it headed back

into new jersey. and the deptford mall it made a tour of the parking lot. residential neighborhoods, and believe it or not, back to the walt whitman and into philadelphia through old city the historic district center city and back south on 95. that's when the police tried, and almost succeeded, in boxing him in. and it seemed that he was surrounded but he made a nifty escape even at 30 miles per hour. it was near the airport where the ordeal finally came to an end. a state trooper flipped the van giving other police a chance to converge on the suspect. he was arrested without incident. and live with the van still there is sharrie williams. >> jim, you are right. that nifty escape didn't last long as it did come to a conclusion right here. we are live on the scene where this white dodge appeared to be

a work van. it's still here. it flipped and uprighted itself. there's glass on the ground. you see the windshield is damaged and broken out as the driver flipped. when the police approached him they say he didn't have much to say describing him as confused and disoriented. he was transported to the hospital and after the long chase the drive treated for medical injuries. the police say the driver of the white van wanted for robbery, allegedly using a shotgun in the crime and an officer spotted the van that matched a description and gave chase. >> and traveling over the walt whitman bridge this evening around 7:30. while in bartram the vehicle struck a highway patrol car. >> that is not the last police cruiser to be struck. and he later hit this cruiser outside of the navy yard in philadelphia. >> and jumping on interstate 95

getting on the walt whitman bridge and back over into new jersey. >> the police gave chase for over an hour following closely behind throughout new jersey before the suspect weaved into philadelphia, this time near the airport where the vehicle crashed and rolled. this individual yes shows the suspect hand cuffed in the back seat and was transport the for medical treatment. and the nearly two-hour case ended surprisingly with no injuries. >> and you coordinate with the police. and with the helicopter up it makes it easier. this lasted two hours back and forth into two different states. it could have been a lot worse than this. the time of night, the areas where he was traveling and a monday night with not a lot on the road worked in our favor this evening. >> working to their favor is really the way to describe it. if you watch this chase play out

"action news" reporter dann cuellar is live at the montgomery courthouse. what is the story there? >> the police have been vigorously looking for the two people said to be involved. with all of the money they allegedly stole they could be anywhere tonight. these are the two people being sought by montgomery county authorities. 33-year-old eric lamont martin and portia martin the co-owners of a heating and ventilation firm with an offers on pennsylvania ave. and they allege they were using the company as a front to apply for loans. >> the two individuals were able to apply for loans in their name through the business. have the loans paid into the company's bank account. from the company's bank account, the money was then moved into their personal account. >> one of the victims got a

disturbing call from the fraud department of synrocony bank. >> we checked your records and it looks like fraud. >> and does it make you wonder how they got your information? >> i have no idea. i have no idea. >> somehow the two individuals obtained names and personal information of at least eight individuals. some of them senior citizens. >> in all, they profited by as much as $124,000 by creation of the credit accounts using the stolen identity information. and the police have not yet caught up with them and it is not clear if there are more victims out there >> it is important if someone feels they have been victimized by the individuals contact the police directly.
