>>. good afternoon "action news" is investigating the brutal beating of a child. she was discovered on the 2600 block of north hutchinson street. her mother tells police that he took her outside where he attacked her and we are getting an update from police at this hour. we'll have updates tonight on 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 and at 6abc.com. >> we are learning more about a high speed accident that left three people dead and a car slit in half after it slammed into a tree in the bustleton section of philadelphia. two men and two women were killed. eva pilgram joins us live now. >> reporter: police are expected to hold a news conference here

at 2:00 p.m. with more information about this deadly crash, at this point they are looking at surveillance video trying to determine why this car was driving so fast down a road down a business area and if any other cars are involved. >> as the sun came up this morning, police were investigating the crash in the bustleton area of the city, this late 2000 model accura tl was almost cut in half after the driver lost control speeding around a curve last night. >> we are trying to recover video of the construction site to see if there was another car involved. we know at least five people were in this car, three are dead, two females were thrown from the car one was just 16 years old and a 20-year-old man died in the car and a 17-year-old man was thrown on the street and he is in critical condition and a 19-year-old male was taken to the hospital by normal car and he is in good

condition. >> high speed and driving the car and thinking they are having a good time. it only takes a second to lose control and then a loss of life. >> business owners say it's common to see speeding along that road and especially through that curve right there, we are told that is not the first time that tree has been hit. eva pilgram, channel 6 "action news." >> all right thank you. an excessive heat warning is in effect for the region again today. sky 6 hd looking live at center city where it's still very humid outside. accuweather is tracking the chance for storms this evening as well. meteorologist, david murphy has more on that as he joins us live from the big board. >> lets start with the storm story n. central pennsylvania, creeping towards lancaster and harrisburg we have the first of the day's thunderstorms beginning to pop. they look like they are on top of us but they are moving east so slowly we may have to wait an

hour before they get into our western areas and later this afternoon before they get into philadelphia, there you see the line and it's a long slow track but they are on their way here and later on this afternoon and this evening, we'll see some of that and they could bring strong damaging wind gusts and most of the region away from the shore at a slight risk of strong damaging wind gusts from storms today and tonight but the best chance is downpours and lightning as the two major threats, nonetheless take cover if the storms head your way, a heat warning in effect for the second straight day and heat indexes make it feel like 95 or so, and areas could go up to is hundred, another day for cool drinks and be careful out there. notice the southerly flow is bringing in the humidity and warming us up, and looking at heat indexes and the high

man during a traffic stop. here is more of what happened during his first court appearance. >> reporter: there was actual applause in the courtroom today when the judge announced that she would allow tensioning to be released on bond but it was setality a million dollars. >> from the police up form to prison stripes. >> charged with one count of murder and one count of vol t r voluntarily manslaughter. >> this is the most asinine act i have seen a police officer make. >> the body camera catching it all, sam debose was pulled over for a missing license plate. >> tensing reaches for the door and the situation quickly escalating. >> i didn't do nothing.

take your seatbelt off, stop, stop. debose shot once in the head and the carrolling away and crashing down the street, the 25-year-old officer claiming in a police department that he was being dragged by the vehicle and had to fire the weapon, a second video cam taken from another very cam shows him on the ground after he fired. >> you can tell he was in fact on the ground in the middle of the street. >> he goes on to say debose may have tried to get away because of his extensive criminal record and his family denying that and they are grateful they are getting justice. >> you took a good man officer tensing and you deserve to go down. >> if convicted he could face 15 years to life in prison. >> reporting live marcy gonzales, channel 6 "action news." >> marcy thank you.

>> back here philadelphia congressman, chaka fattah is vowing to stay in office and fightle racketeering charges against him. the 29 count indictment accuses the long time democrat of using campaign and charitable funds illegally. he says he has never done anything illegal but has stepped down from his role on a house appropriations committee. it appears that cole hamels time in philadelphia will come to an end, they have agreed to trade him to the texas ranger, the first pitcher in major league history immediately after throwing a no-hitter, the phils will get a group of minor league prospects. a woman that saved lives during a movie theater shooting, is telling her story, how she escaped during that attack is

one official in malaysia is saying that the debris found in the indian ocean is from the missing malaysian air flight 370. it's being sent to france for testing, they say it's from a boeing 777. flight 370 is the only one missing, it disappeared on march 8 of last year. we'll have more in a live report in our next half hour. the ntsb is investigating a small plane crash in wisconsin, both people on board died in the smoldering wreckage in milwaukee yesterday. witnesses say something went wrong as the plane circled for a landing. we know that the plane was registered out of boston and autopsies are scheduled for later today. >> we are hearing from a woman that saved her friend's life in a movie theater shooting in

louisiana. john houser killed two people and injured nine others, teacher jenna mote took a bullet to the leg as she dove on her colleague, she recounted how she made it out alive. >> i thought he would shoot me in the back as i crawled on the ground. i could walk -- and running towards -- >> martin was also shot in the leg but she was able to pull the fire alarm, warning other movie goers to evacuate. police credit the woman to saving livs that night. police hope that lab tests will help in the mile long sheen of oil 1,000 miles from the sand, and people are told to avoid tar balls. a shipping company will pay

david here with the check of the accuweather forecast, and we are hoping and praying for relief from the heat. >> you'll get relief but it will be just aas hot but not as humid. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows you off to the west we see a hint of thunderstorm activity popping up and we go closer on that, most of this is west of

lancaster, it looks like one break away cell is popping up west of reading and it may only be another 20 minutes or so before you see that precipitation, this heavier stuff to the west is still pretty far west of norristown and philadelphia, we probably have to wait 90 minutes or a couple of hours before it gets close to the city, if you have errands to run, around philadelphia and quakertown and allentown, can you run out quick and get them done but keep the storm tracker 6 app on your cell phone and watch the progress of these storms. it's warm and humid outside, if you are in the air conditioning, and look at this action cam picture, it almost looks like a nice spring day, but you get out there and despite the cool water and babbling brook it's uncomfortable today. the dew point is up to 74, and it was humid yesterday and warming up at this hour, today the temperatures may not go as

high but indicating sticky air, it will feel similar to yesterday. winds 14 miles per hour out of the south-southwest right up from where that humid is coming from. 88 in philadelphia and 86 in allentown and trenton, down the shore better in cape may, 85 at the airport in atlantic city, again the humid levels are high and noticeable. in terms of the storms to the west, between now and 2:00 there is a possibility we see some stuff forming close toward philadelphia and the main line is however pretty far out and we go up to 4:00, 5:00 and see that main stuff cranking right threw the i-95 corridor, these storms are obviously going to produce drenching downpours and other problems we'll talk about in a moment. the latest run has this stuff in and around philadelphia, and the phillies are back home tonight, and i would not cancel my plans but by 10:00 to 11:00 it looks

like this stuff is getting off the coast but adam and cecily will have something to show you on radar. lightning definitely a possibility and almost a certainty, we are seeing thunderstorms around lancaster, downpours a high chance of that in the hot and humid air mass, high winds, a moderate chance of that, not all of them will do that but some could. we are going low on the hail and tornado chance, these three lit up the way they are is enough to convince you to take cover when the storms move into your area, 88 is the high in allentown and afternoon thunderstorms and down the shore, we are also stopping in the 80s there is a chance of rip concerns in the water but as long as you swim near the lifeguards you'll be okay. gusty thunderstorms on the way this afternoon, drenchers too and getting up to 90 for a high and humid, tomorrow 90 for a high and with the front moving
