>> "action news" reporter vern odom is live where it all happened along east washington street and he has the full story tonight. vernon. >> reporter: good evening rick and monica. good evening to you both. neighbors here tell me they believe it is a war over drug turf that is triggering governing that makes these streets so dangerous after dark. >> to just shoot randomly it's crazy. i don't understand that mind-set at all. >> reporter: bullet holes and shattered glass pockmark his neighborhood today in the 300 block of rockland at orem. he's glad the wife and children were all asleep at 2:30. multiple gun shots penetrated the walls of his house. he took us on a tour plague pointing out the bullet holes. the front driver's side and passenger side windows were shot out. police say there has been a lot of wild governor lately in felt you. >> we heard like pop pop. so i sent my girlfriend to

just, you know, stay down and then we heard like about another six or seven shots pop, pop pop. then we heard a car drive off. >> reporter: multiple cars and homes were hit in what seems to have been a running gun battle because the bullets appear to have been coming from opposite directions. the vaughn family was startled from their sleep as well. >> we were sleeping and all of a sudden we heard this pop pop pop pop and i yelled to my husband, dottler? what's going on and he said he didn't know. next thing you know we just heard the neighbors car windows smash. >> i heard the shots ring out but i thought it was just some fireworks left over from the fourth that people were shooting off. [laughter] >> this late in the month. >> yes, even this late in the month. >> reporter: police have assigned this case to the special investigations unit. for don rosario these remain troubling times. >> i'm frustrated. i'm upset. i don't know what else to say. >> reporter: police tell me their investigation is going

full tilt at this hour but so far no arrests. rick monica, i'm vernon odom as you know reporting live from feltonville for "action news." >> all right, vernon thank you. philadelphia police are looking for a killer tonight after a young mother way bright future was found murdered in her home in port richmond. 22-year-old stephanie dzikowski was shot once in the head late last night while her two-year-old daughter sat on the bed next to her. a man in a gray hoodie was spotted running from the home seconds after the gun shot. surveillance video may have captured him getting aware. police believe the shooting was not random and that the home was targeted for some reason. officials have no suspects this evening. philadelphia police have cleared a barricade situation in the city's hunting park section. chopper 6hd were you over the scene as officers responded to a home in the 4400 block of north fourth street around 6:30 this morning. someone had called to say they saw a person through a window with a knife threatening someone else inside. police took a man into custody

without incident. at this time he is not facing any charges. >> turning to the forecast t-the weekend is going to be a hot one but at least not humid so it does give us some relief. still you need to protect yourself from that bright sunshine. meteorologist melissa magee outside with the first look at the accuweather forecast. hi, melissa. >> hi, monica. yeah, you said it, it's hot today but the humidity is definitely in check. in fact, this is day four of heat wave number three across the region. 93 was the high on tuesday that's when the heat wave started out wednesday 93. yesterday's high temperature 91 and so far in the city today coming in at 90, 3 degrees above the normal of 87. currently along the coast that's where you're find something relief. 85 in beach haven, 88 in wildwood but in trenton at this hour as you move inland 90. 86 out to the west in reading and 80 degrees up in the poconos. here is the big difference today in comparison to the oppressive humidity we had across the region yesterday. any time you have dewpoint temperatures at 60 degrees or below, we've got a comfortable air mass overhead and most

dylann roof's defense attorney says he needs to know whether professorwhetherprosecutors intend to seek the death penalty tow a not guilty plea was given. authorities say he has admitted to killing the nine parishioners. the u.s. coast guard is suspending its search at sunset for two missing teenaged boaters in florida. perry cohen and austin stephanos both 14 set off from jupiter florida for the bahamas last saturday. crews found their boat capsized the next day but there was no sign of the young boys. their life jackets an cooler were missing from the boat. the families of the teens said they were experienced boaters. pressure continues to mount for that minnesota dentist who killed a world famous lion while trophy hunting in africa. he's in hiding facing a federal investigation and now zimbabwe is calling for him to be extradited. abc news reporter marci

gonzalez has the latest. >> reporter: today the american dentist who killed thistle braitd lion in africa now facing possible extradition. officials in zimbabwe working to have dr. walter palmer brought back to face poaching charges. >> the process is expect said and we are looking forward for his extradition. >> reporter: palmer hasn't been seen since reports that he lured cecil the lion outside of a protected area of zimbabwe earlier this month to kill and skin him. no sign of palmer at his homes in minneapolis and marco island flash flood his minnesota dental office closed because of ongoing protests. >> i don't agree with some of the things that ethically that he's done. >> reporter: u.s. fish and wildlife service opening an investigation saying a representative for palmer has contacted them. palmer released a statement earlier this week claiming he thought the hunt was legal blaming his african guides who have now been charged with poaching. the attorney for one of those

conshohocken curve. the crash there has been pushed off to the side but it is a long slow crawl coming east of 202. on the westbound side of the schuylkill by the roosevelt boulevard there was also an accident. that's been pushed off to the side but traffic crawling in that neck of the woods. one on 95 northbound by the walt whitman bridge giving us speeds in the 20's coming north of the airport. and the big problems continue in gloucester county along 295. northbound all lanes blocked past thorofare. single digit speeds. you want to get off of 295 north of the barry bridge. stick with kings highway or the northbound new jersey turnpike instead but on the southbound new jersey turnpike we have three separate problems. first in burlington county a crash south of exit seven blocking a couple lanes in the outer drive. then by exit four for route 73 a truck overturned blocking two lanes. you'll want to use 295 down to 73 but then get off of that because you're looking at single digit speeds down to the 42 freeway. third problem on the southbound new jersey turnpike is by the delaware memorial bridge but the worst delays are in delaware on the northbound side of 95 and 295

>> ♪♪ >> cvs is accused of intentionally overcharging customers for generic prescription drugs. according to a lawsuit this has been going on since 2008 and it involves customers who buy medications through third party plans. that lawsuit claims cvs has been submitting claims to those third parties at inflated prices sometimes three or four times the usual price. that third party plan is called health savings pass. it's a discount program not insurance. a cvs spokesperson said he could not comment on the case but says a similar case was dismissed in massachusetts. well, the problems continue for budweiser. sales continue to plummet. anheuser bush reported second quarter sales of budweiser and bud light in the u.s. fell into the low single digits and kraft beer may be partly to blame. sales of specialty brews rose 16 percent in the first quarter and anheuser bush has

humidity levels will be in check. we'll show you the picture outside. sky6 live in hd down the shore in cape may new jersey. a lot of people enjoying a friday afternoon on the beach and on the sand and also on the water. it was pretty comfortable at the coast. it's 82 in beach haven 88 degrees in atlantic city and down in cape may that number coming in at 86 but as you head inland along that 95 corridor for philadelphia even trenton at this hour and at 90 so at least here in the city of philadelphia heat wave number three continues. this is day four of our heat wave and it's more than likely going to continue as we head into our weekend. here's the water vapor imagery. this is a good indication of moisture in the atmosphere and you can see how dry it is. out across the ohio valley back across philadelphia and up through new england with an indication of the gold or the yellow tone here. the moisture out along the atlantic you could see it with shows showers and storms bubbling up in the green and that's where the humidity s it stays well away from our region for the rest of our weekend. so we'll show you the call from accuweather tonight. we've got a moonlit sky a

touch of humidity overhead. dropping down to 73 in the city, 63 in allentown and 72 for the overnight low in cape may. in fact, great viewing conditions. if perhaps you want to view the blue moon. it's not necessarily blue in color but because it is pretty rare, this is the second full moon this month, so after sunset look to the east. this only happens once every three years. the next time this will occur will be 2018. so, it is definitely once in a blue moon. here's future tracker six showing you as we get into the afternoon hours 2 o'clock tomorrow some showers and storms could fire up, up in the poconos and points to the north and the east with a weak disturbance moving through. otherwise most locations stay pretty dry for a good chunk of our weekend. so, the weekend call in the city tomorrow, mostly sunny. it's a hot one and at 91. 88 degrees at the shore with a bit of a land breeze and up in the poconos it's sunny with an isolated shot of a thunderstorm overhead, high temperature in at 80. here's the five day at 5:00. hot, not too humid tomorrow and at 91 degrees.

it's my son. >> reporter: officially ending today at sunset the coast guard calling off the search for two 14-year-old boys missing for a week in the atlantic ocean. >> hundreds of people searched thousands of miles because we were desperately committed to try to find austin and perry. >> reporter: austin instead of notice and perry cohen set off alone on a fishing trip alone before a line of severe storms moved through. their boat found capsized nearly 70 miles off the coast of central florida two days later. >> we confirmed nobody's on board. >> reporter: a cooler and life jacket missing from the boat. their families remaining optimistic the young yet experienced boaters used them to stay afloat. >> i truly believe in my heart that they're okay. >> reporter: the coast guard navy and air force searching from florida to north carolina with no sign of the teens. >> the decision to suspend was

it happened about 1:30 this morning here in the 1600 block of stalled street. now police arrived they found the victim lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest and one in the neck. he was rushed to temple university hospital where he died. no word on the victim's identity yet none arrests so far. well, look closely at this surveillance video. south detectives are hoping you may recognize that man wanted for aggravated assault in philadelphia's hawthorne section. police say he gave employees at a sunoco gas station a hard times left and then later came back to a side window attempting to get back inside. when they told him the store was closed he allegedly pulled a black handgun pointed it at the employees and then ran. if you know anything about him, please call police. chopper 6hd over the blue route in delaware county this morning where a dump truck and two other vehicles collided. it happened at help a.m. in nether providence. one person was rushed to the hospital. no word yet on a condition or the cause. >> philadelphia has been selected as one of the first cities to participate in a new
