spital very shortly. five-year-old carly green is due to be released from saint christopher's hospital later today. in the wake of a hit and run accident on lambert street that could have killed her if not for a matter of inches one way or another. police are still looking for the hit and run driver. the child was visiting with her cousins. a number of youngsters were playing with her on the street when she was hit by a light colored suv. carly's mother tells me she's making a miraculous recovery. >> she has a mild concussion, no bleeding on the brain or nothing like that. >> reporter: carly's family has nothing but praise for the policemen who responded quickly to the 911 call and rushed the child to a hospital. the hit and run door was driving a light colored jeep or suv according to police with a pennsylvania tag with possible number jsg-6673.

the average high temperature for this time of year is 87 degrees. in philadelphia with that temperature of 92 degrees, trenton millville pretty close by 90 degrees. dover 91. you'll notice right along the beaches, though, that sea breeze is cooling things down. avalon 81 degrees. atlantic city airport in pomona it is warmer with a current temperature of 88. dewpoints tell the story. over the weekend dewpoints were generally in the 40's and 50's. we had a very dry air mass. now a lot of the region showing dewpoints in the low 60's. philadelphia it's slipped down to 58 degrees. above 60 degrees is when you do feel that moisture in the air, somewhat humid. closer to the coast you have dewpoints in the 70's and that's when that ocean influence. satellite6 along with action radar showing there's a weak feature trying to move in. it's falling apart but we have a couple pop-up sprinkles over northern berks county right now. so, there is a possibility of an isolated thunderstorm generally tonight though we'll be partly cloudy and warm,

well here's one reason a lot of people were looking forward to monday this week. the eagles took to the field today for the second day of training camp. "action news" sports reporter jeff skversky is among those there. he's live at the novacare complex with more on a new running back. what are we learning about demarco murray? >> reporter: well, brian there's an entire new roster of course, chip kelly completely blew up the roster this off season. it is nine, 10 and six was not good enough. chip kelly did not feel like they could win and make a playoff run. there are nine new starters including one of the best running backs in all of football. let's take a look at eagles pro running back demarco murray brought in here this off season as a free agent to replace the eagles leading all time rusher, lesean mccoy. murray who led the nfl rushing last year should have learned this new offense and this new city. his first four years in the

today it is take two for septa as it once again attempts to sell rail passes for pope francis' visit to philadelphia next month. the one day lottery opened today. last month a huge demand for them crashed the ticket site. here's what you need to know if you want one today. you have until 11:59 tonight to sign up. you must enter to have a chance at getting regional rail passes for september 26th and 27th. septa is selling a total of 350,000 for both days. they are $10 a piece. the winners will be selected at random through an online database and notified by e-mail on thursday. right now septa says your chances look pretty good since they say demand is lower than expected. >> start letting people know on thursday. right now it's going very well but we may not sell out. there may be a possibility that everybody who enters actually gets a pass. >> trains will be stopping at

man accused of slashing tires on a south philadelphia street overnight. officers were called totten hundred block of ellsworth street about 1:15 this morning. a responding officer saw a man fitting the description of the suspect at broad and carpenter streets. they say he had a knife and took him into custody. some of the victims tell "action news" it was a bit disheartening to see this landsy vandalism. >> got in the car to go to work and saw that my one tire was slashed along with a lot of tires on the street. >> well, intact a total of nine cars were vandalized in all. police have not yet released the suspect's identity. >> philadelphia police are asking for your help to track down a man they say has been installing skimming devices in center city atm's. this is a surveillance photo from july 17th showing the man placing a device on an atm inside the 7-eleven store on eighth and walnut street. the device can copy cardholders personal debit or credit card information. they believe this is his latest offense in a string of similar crimes both in the

little philadelphia love. not feeling love on 95. northbound side locked up just like it was this morning because of a crash here approaching kerlin street that just cleared out within the last couple minutes. it was occupying the left lane. now it's gone. the bad news is the delay is not nearly gone yet. northbound side still a solid line from the delaware state line on up to that scene approaching kerlin street. then once you get farther north things look a little different this afternoon. we have a new traffic pattern that was set up in the weekend in the ongoing work zone at girard. what this means is things are extra bunched up north of tasker up to girard. once you get through that new pattern in the work zone you're sitting in the mid 50's passing the betsy ross bridge. we never see speeds like that on the northbound side in the afternoon so really backed up back around center city and society hill but once you get beyond that, you're looking better. meanwhile we've got a crash we're watching along bishop avenue and springfield road in springfield township delco and this is the schuylkill with normal afternoon delays. here the update on our spring garden ramp.

suburban denver. today's action came during the second phase of the sentencing. both the defense and prosecution will get one more chance to plead their cases. holmes was convicted last month. it is now up to the jury to decide between lethal injection and life in prison. >> cleanup continues this afternoon after a deadly tent collapse at a suburban chicago festival. it happened yesterday on the last day of the annual prairie fest. a strong storm rolled in and organizers rushed to shut down rides and get everyone out of the main tent but heavy winds lifted that tent into the air and sent debris flying. a 35-year-old father of two was killed. 15 others were taken to the hospital. now to the latest on the mystery of a missing malaysia airlines flight 370. investigators from france and malaysia have met with a judge in paris now after part of the plane wing arrived in that country. experts are trying to determine whether the part comes from that missing plane which disappeared in march of

20 be 14. it was found on the french island of reunion in the indian ocean. investigators say it is from a boeing 777. flight 370 is the only one of that kind of plane that is known to be missing. >> the manhunt continues today for the man who police say gunned down a memphis police officer after he interrupted a drug deal. authorities are searching for 29-year-old tremaine wilbourn. he's charged and with first degree murder in the death of officer sean bolten. officials say will burn was taking part in a drug deal involving less than 2 grams of marijuana when he got into a struggle with bolton and shot him multiple times. will burn was on supervised release after serving a federal sentence for robbery. authorities in new mexico are looking for those responsible for planting explosives at two church this weekend. the blasts went off 20 minutes and a few miles apart in las

>> ♪♪ >> "action news" continues. >> ♪♪ >> hello again. 4:30 now and "action news" continues with a major bust in a rental theft scam based in delaware. and they say this woman was at the center of it all. now she and four other people have been arrested. how this case is connected to nigeria and the three others that police are still looking for right now. >> plus, this is all that's left of a mannequin in new castle county after it was man handled. the reward a haunted house is now offering for any leads that help police track down who is responsible. >> but first at 4:30 a family is making a plea to the public in hopes of finding the person who hit their buffed one way car at a bus stop in southwest philadelphia. it happened around 6:45 at 84th and livened berg. the driver got out of the car stood over the victim, then got back in the car and drove away. woman who found the victim lying down in the street. he's at penn presbyterian medical center. >> reporter: the good news is that 22-year-old dom mick parker sims is on the mend upgraded to good condition here at penn presbyterian. but the guy who ran her down remains at large. >> i think he's a low life scum and he needs to be caught. >> reporter: elaine shoemaker was among those who ran to help dominique. she had been at this bus stop on her way home from work around 6:45 this morning when she was run down by a small green pickup truck. as others ran to help, the driver ran off after stopping briefly. >> got out looked at her actually walked over, walked around her, you know, and then went and walked back to his truck. >> reporter: good samaritans stayed behind to help including two hospital workers. dominique was in pain and in and out of consciousness but was eighth to able to give them her name.

witnesses say the police never came to investigate. dominique worked the overnight shift at the pet hotel not far from the accident scene. the owners says she's an incredible person incredible employee and they're devastate bide the news of the accident. her father says she loves animals and wants to become a veterinarian. she had recently graduated from iowa central and was hoping to study at a penn. now she's in the hospital at penn struggling to recover from a devastating setback and the man who put her there is nowhere to be found. >> eventually he slowly got into his truck. i turned around i seen him getting in his truck. i started yelling to him to stop, get out of the truck whatever. i told other people that were there to try and chase the truck and he just took off. >> reporter: now the 12th district police do have a report of the incident. they are turning it over to the accident investigation division. witnesses describe the driver as a tall slender white man wearing a ball cap driving a small green pickup truck.

live in university city, david henry, channel6 "action news." brian. >> all right, hopefully someone's got information that can track him down. david thanks very much. a wilmington police officer was injured injured another job while trying to take a suspect into custody. officers were trying to arrest three men including 20-year-old robert dunham after gunfire on kirkwood street. police say dunham began to struggle kicking the arresting officer's hand into that a police car. that officer fractured his finger. dunham now faces charges related to the shooting and assaulting an officer. >> we know the name of the woman killed in yesterday's crash on i-95 in bucks county. natasha belot of bloomfield new jersey was on her way home from the american idol auditions at temple university. she and five others were in a jeep suv when it flipped over and rolled over around 7:00 last night in lower makefield township. police say the driver passed another vehicle on the right shoulder of the interstate at a high speed before losing

lieu along with dann lieu and phone chang rested and charged with promoting and engaging prostitution. their arrest follows a three week investigation by law enforcement in mercer county. >> good news for the city of camden. it has been selected as a finalist for a $30 million revitalization grant. camden mayor dana redd and senator bob menendez toured the mount ephraim neighborhood. the money would be used to help revitalize the neighborhood. but it's not all good news. that grant is being threatened by possible budget cuts on capitol hill. >> fans gathered outside a north jersey cemetery today to say one final goodbye to bobbi kristina brown. brown the only daughter of singer whitney houston was buried in westfield union county. her grave is situated right next to her mother's and bobbi kristina was found unresponsive in bathtub in january. she died last month after months in hospice care.

she was just 22 years old. >> new research shows a different approach to battling ovarian cancer is proving to make a pretty significant difference. >> ♪♪ >> new at 4:30, police in smyrna arrested five people and are looking for three others in an elaborate nationwide rental theft scam. authorities say 63-year-old verna nowell headed up the scam. she and ronald miles, jr. what arrested last week. ronald miles sr. chase madden and shirley watson were arrested today. police say nowell paid people she met over the internet in nigeria to create fake ads for rental properties. police are now looking for three more people in connection with the case. they all live in kent and new castle counties. if you recognize them you're asked to call smyrna police. >> firefighters in northern california are beginning to make progress on this wildfire

westbound's not so bad but eastbound here by spring garden you see the heavy delays headed toward the vine street expressway. but positive updates on the ramps here at spring garden street. today they reopened the ramp from spring garden to the westbound lanes. had been closed all last week. and we were hearing they were goesy going to close this ramp from the eastbound schuylkill to spring garden round the clock through the middle of next week. now turns out they're only going to do that during the overnight hours so that's definitely good news but 9 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. that ramp will be closed. getting better here on 95 northbound in delco. down to about app six minute northbound delay which is a lot better than it was earlier. 95 northbound by washington avenue there's a crash on the shoulder and a crash in deptford township closing delsea drive this afternoon at essex boulevard. stick to good intender road to get around that. we always have good intent but sometimes it doesn't work out quite that well. >> what a great address that would be. >> yes. >> good intents road. >> all good, all the time. >> that's right. just on our street, though. ahead on "action news" at 4:00 with what's the deal, we've got low budget ways to

popping up currently in northern berks county right north of 222 near kutztown. you can see how it's all moving up to the northwest moving into the lehigh valley. this is ahead of a cold front that will be moving through overnight and tomorrow and what this will do is ends our heat wave but today a full week now of heat wave number three. so far our high in philadelphia 92 degrees. the hottest days the first two days last tuesday and wednesday when we hit 93 degrees but the end is in sight if you don't like the heat. currently in philadelphia nine were degrees. in trenton, millville and wilmington, 90. allentown not quite that warm, 86 and avalon with that sea breeze really a lot cooler at the shore with a high -- a current temperature i should say of 80 degrees but dewpoints show that at the shore although it's a lot cooler it's also a lot more humid, dewpoints right along the beach with that ocean influence in the 70's. inland in philadelphia dewpoint not too bad 58 degrees. most of the region in the low 60's and that's slightly

humid. so the humidity is up from over the weekend but it's really not oppressive. now, satellite6 along with action radar show what i'm tracking is a cold front across the great lakes. ahead of it we have some clouds and some spotty showers. doesn't like like we'll see a lot of activity and tonight though can't rule out the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm in spots. elsewhere though just partly cloudy, a warm night 68 degrees and cooler suburbs 75 degrees for center city and future tracker showing tomorrow morning at 9:30 temperatures already in the 80's along the i-95 corridor and areas to the south and east. as we head into the afternoon temperatures around 90 again likely the last day in our heat wave. so, we have had this pattern with the jet stream well up to the north known as a ridge of high pressure. what will happen as we head towards the end of the week. big dip in the jet stream, big trough and that will bring much cooler conditions. also we're looking at the potential for some heavy rain thursday night into friday. so the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, tomorrow hot and humid again.

a high near 90. if we that hit that, that's day eight of our heat wave. on wednesday still a warm day but not quite as hot with a high of 88 degrees. on thursday this is when you'll notice the changes. it clouds up with rain developing. our afternoon high on the cool side only 80 degrees and friday we have the potential for some heavy rain with showers and thunderstorms the high 79 and saturday haven't had a cool saturday for awhile. mostly cloudy and cool, 79 degrees. we're back up to 82 degrees on sunday with clouds and some sunshine. and monday mostly sunny, continued on the cool side a little bit with a high of 84 degrees. so, once we get past wednesday, we can turn off the air conditioning units give them a little bit of a break. >> yeah, they could use it cecily thank you very much. >> what's the deal is coming up next. if you're looking to sell your home you don't want to miss this one. >> black black one
