after two deadly stabbings in the city. is one of the victims was found in the backyard of a home. pennsylvania's top cop is expected to turn herself in today to face criminal charges. it is beautiful day for the beach, but beware of rip currents. let's go over to meteorologist chris sowers and the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. this saturday is a stunner. >> reporter: tomorrow is equally as nice. a beautiful weekend overall. as alicia mentioned the risk for rip currents is on the high side. if you're on the beach and go into the water, pay attention to the lifeguards. as we look live in atlantic city you can see the surf. it's rough, swells of 4 to 6 feet. breakers on the sand as the coastline storm pulls -- coastal storm pulls away. you can see how the foam is

being pulled out. that's how it starts. it becomes difficult to fight the currents. be on the look out for those later on. it was a cool start around the delaware valley. it was 49 degrees this morning, in the poconos here we are in the middle of august, we're talking about temperatures 17 degrees above freezing in the mountains. a little chilly up there. allentown, 17. dover, 63. philadelphia, shy of 70 degrees. trenton, 74. allentown, 70. poconos 67. millville, 74. the shorepoints in the low 70s. clouds beginning to increase a little bit down there, the early signs of the coastal storm starting to swirl off the coast of the delmarva. that is pulling out to sea, not racing up the eastern seaboard. sun and clouds. burn time is 15 minutes, apply the sunscreen. 83 degrees by 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m., # -- 86 degrees.

we'll be back and talk about the potential of rip currents and have the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> new this morning, philadelphia police are investigating not one, but two deadly stabbings. the action cam on the 17 hup morocco -- hundred block of revere street a man was driving down the street the wrong way, the driver got out of the truck and stabbed the 21 in the chest before taking off. medics rushed the victim to the hospital where he died. police are searching for the driver. he fled the scene in a light-colored ford f150. around the same time, officers were called out to another stabbing. they found a man stabbed to death in the backyard of a home on oxford street. no word on a motive. an american airlines plane

landed at philadelphia international airport after crews declared an emergency moments after takeoff. >> very scary moments, flight 669 took off from philadelphia just before 9:00 p.m. heading for seattle. the flames were reported from the left engine visible enough to prompt calls to 911. the airbus 320 circled for a half-hour and landed safely a half-hour later. american airlines believes some unburned fuel was burning off as the plane took off which is very common and the plane was never on fire. there were 138 people on board. nobody was hurt. happening today, kathleen kane is going to surrender to criminal charges for leaking grand jury information to a

newspaper reporter and lying about it under oath. she will be processed at the montgomery county detective bureau in norristown and arraigned over closed circuit tv. she plans to pleat not guilty and remain in office despite calls to step down. philadelphia police are trying track down the gunman who killed a 22-year-old mother in port richmond. friend and family members held a vigil calling for justice. jeff chirico has more. >> what do we want? >> justice. >> reporter: with heavy hearts marchers marched through port richmond for justice for stephanie dzikowski. 22-year-old was gun down in her home. her 2-year-old daughter was nearby. >> i know she is looking down on us, smiling getting justice for her. >> we want to find out who did it and bring the person in. >> reporter: more than 100 family and friends wore shirts with her picture and carried

signs through the streets the 22 debris up on. police don't think it was a random home invasion, but a close family friend couldn't imagine who would hurt the young mother. >> you would be drawn to her the minute you meet her. >> reporter: police obtained surveillance video which may show the killer running down aramingo. stephanie dzikowski's boyfriend and father of her child plead for someone to tell police what they know. >> she will have to understand one day she will have to grow up nothing that. we need answers this baby has to grow up with no mother now. >> this person is still on the streets. and nobody is safe right now. >>s handed out the flyers calling on the public to call police if they know anything. police are not telling "action news" very much about any leads

they may have, but with any murder in philadelphia there's a 20,000-dollar reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of the killer and you can remain anonymous. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> there are new developments this morning in the bombings of two churns in new mexico. the facebook released this surveillance video of a person of interest showing the man walking to the calvary church with an item in his hand just before the explosion at the church. he is later seen walking away from the church without the item. a bomb went off at nearby holy cross catholic church. the blast did not injury anyone. a jury has sentenced james holmes to life in the colorado movie theater shooting. >> we the jury do not have a

unanimous mouse -- unanimous verdict. >> reporter: the jury was able to reach a unanimous verdict for the death penalty meaning the 27-year-old who killed 12 and wounded 70 others will not be excused. >> excused --xecuted. that's not justice, he is living, he is breathing, our loved ones are gone. >> reporter: ashly mosser was paralyzed in the shooting spree and lost her 6-year-old daughter jersey -- veronica. it was the same jury that rejected the insanity defense. >> there will never be closure for these families and these

49 degrees you're starting to rebound now, you're up to 67. the developing winds are wind speeds not gusts. 10 to 15 miles per hour increasing as the day goes on. satellite and radar here's the coastal storm that we're starting to develop. we're seeing the explosion in high clouds and moisture off the coast of the delmarva. fortunately for us it is not running up the eastern sea seab. what will happen it will throw back the waves here. we have four foot waves approaching the shore and five and six foot waves. this will batter the shoreline as the storms ramps up and it will increase rip current and it will provide boaters with rough seas. forecast map, there is the low, the works out to sea, the high settles in.

to see at this time of the year is impressive. 67 in tanersville. 72 in martins creek. chester, 71. swep -- as we look south and east, buena 72, dover, 74. as you look toward the bottom of the screen you see clouds move into the picture and the bright whites represent deeper cloud cover on the northern side of a developing coastal storm that will pull toward the northeast and away from the delaware valley, aweam from -- away frome dry state. it will come close enough to throw back cloud cover during the morning but sunshine returns. 74 degrees at the 9:00 a.m. hour. lunchtime, 82. 3:00 p.m., 85. we're forecasting a high of 86 degrees in the city there

will be high, thin clouds during the afternoon, but the sun will shine right through that. nothing turns threatening, sun sets at 8:07 this evening. as we look into next week, this is where the weather turns interesting downhill monday night into tuesday, we increase the threat for showers and thunderstorms, a couple of those could be on the heavier side with drenching downpours, we need the rain, but the forecast models are suggesting quite a bit in a short period of time. we'll talk about that in the seven-day forecast when i see you in just a few minutes. >> new from our delaware newsroom this morning a man is fighting for his life after being hit by a car in bear. the action cam was on the scene at route 40 and ricky boulevard. police say the victim was trying to cross route 40 when he was hit by a car. while lying on the road a separate car swerved to avoid him and ended up hitting the first car. the man was was flown to the

hospital in critical condition. no word if charges will be filed. a woman and four children are seriously hurt after a crash in gloucester county. it happened on the 800 block of winslow road in monroe township. the woman lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. the woman and chirp were rushed to the hospital. no, no word on their conditions. several residents of a well-known drug rehab facility had to be rushed to the hospital after overdosing on drugs. dann cuellar has the story. >> reporter: "action news" was on the scene around 6:00 p.m. on 3200 block of henry avenue. calls to 911 came in that four men were overdosed and acting crazy. >> four males were transported to the hospital and acting unruly and becoming violent. police had to be called. the men three in their 40s and one in their 20s appeared to

be on a new synthetic drug called k2. it is synthetic marijuana that has been more prevalents in philadelphia. it's a strong type of marijuana that causes the cruisers -- users to become violent. >> reporter: police responded for a number of incidents. 12 cases reported od on k2. in general doctors say the drug can be dangerous. >> there's been a lot of young people teenagers and young adults that have gone to emergency rooms and had inl -- infarctions and deaths. >> reporter: it's a rehab for drug alcohol and mental issues,

one resident said it's a joke to call this place a rehab center. >> it's a joke, it's ridiculous, it's full of drugs, people are falling out everyday, ambulances are here picking them up. the resident said after the latest incident, the department of corrections will send a team to sweep the place for drugs, but after a few days, the drugs return and things will be like they have been been. no comment from the officials at the facility. in east falls, dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> teams will begin work today to test cooling towers in new york city amid a deadly outbreak of legionaires disease. ten have died and 100 sickened. the testing will take place in the bronx and the state will pay for it. the bacteria have been found in five buildings win a few blocks of each other. new at 9:30, the death of a newborn baby who may have fallen

or been thrown from a window in new york city is a homicide. the 1-month-old baby boy was found in the courtyard. authorities are investigating whether he fell or tossed from a window or left there. detectives questioned the baby's mother, father and two other adults, no arrests have been made. new accusations are being made against bobbi kristina brown partner, nick gordon. a lawsuit was amendmented to include a -- amended to including a wrongful death count. bobbi kristina brown died last month in hospice, he has not been criminally charged. >> republican candidates for president are in atlanta, georgia this week to speak at the red state conservative conference except for the man who is leading the polls. donald trump has been uninvited

as we look back toward the sky scrapers. nice and quiet, 74 degrees. disappoint, 56 that's very comfortable. winds are picking up out of the east, nor'easter -- northeast at 10 miles per hour. the surf is rough, we're seeing four to five foot breakers on the beach breaking. every now have and then you'll see rip currents, pay close attention to the lifeguard. this is not a rip current. you'll notice things like this the current trying to pull the wave back as the breaks. if you get into a rip current it's difficult to get out of. you have to swim parallel to the beach. you have to get out of it and work back toward shore. millville, 74. reading, 70 degrees. allentown, 70. poconos 67 degrees. nice and comfortable out there today. dewpoints staying in the 50s,

same thing tomorrow, we're spiking monday night into tuesday, that's the thunderstorm threat it is back down into the comfort zone by wednesday. we have maybe a 24 to 36 hour window of uncomfortable weather in the seven-day forecast followed by the chance of showers and storms. that's really about it. here's the coastal storm fortunately for us it is not moving up the coast, rather working out to sea. we'll be brushed with it in the form. clouds down the jersey shore in the morning hours, breaking for sunshine sunshine by afternoon. it shows up nicely on future tracker, mixed skies. overnight tonight, some kind of deal combination of sun andy clouds. no weather to speak of. monday, combination of sun and clouds. even though the model is not showing anything, you will see thunderstorms developing one or two of those could produce a downpour monday into tuesday.
