south is west home in philadelphia. i'm walter perez and the big story on "action news" is dea deadly shooting of 16-year-old boy that happened 6:45 tonight helm wood section of philadelphia and first thought the teen had a nose bleed and when he arrived at the hospital it was clear how serious the situation was. "action news" reporter jeff chirico is live at southwest detectives with full details, jeff. >> walter, police right now are interviewing family members and neighbors to try to figure out what led to the shooting that claimed the life of that 16-year-old. within the past hour, we learned his name is korey tenel student at bartram high school. we are told he was visiting his cousin at 6335 reedland street. he and another boy were inside the home when a gun went off. someone called 911 and reported tinel had a nose bleed as you said as he was rushed to the hospital it was clear he was shot in the head and investigators searched the house and did not find the gun.

as loved ones arrived home they got the news and were obviously distraught to learn of his death and we got finished spea speaking to his grandmother. here's what she had to say. >> very, very nice boy and well mannered and playing basketball and stuff and would go to cousins and playing with cousins and next thing i know i got a phone call that little korey has been shot. i got to the hospital and they said they wouldn't even let me in. >> and tinel was pronounced dead 7:30 tonight and police working through several scenarios trying to determine if this was an accident. perhaps they were playing with a gun. was thisself inflicted or targeted. right now police interviewing family members and neighbors to get to the bottom of tonight's death. we are live at southwest detectives, jeff chirico for "channel 6 action news". >> thank you, jeff. two peopleen and a dog rescued

today at the jersey shore. the boat went up in flames 11:00 this morning. app an has the story from ocean city. >> many beachgoers on 39 street had no idea when they saw smoke in the air there was a rescue in progress. just before 11 a.m., 46 foot sailboat turned into floating ball of fire off the coast of ocean city, new jersey. >>. >> we were walking down and saw black smoke. >> gallaghers quickly realize today was smoke as a vessel throat away and then it came back later and then disappeared again. >> "action news'" sarah bloomquist happened to be on the beach and took this video. two people and dog were on board. this photo shows one of the boat's owners with jack their 4-year-old golden retriever after the rescue by the coastguard and ocean city new jersey police. and according to the coastguard, a good samaritan radioed for help while the three on board jumped on a dinghy stocked with life vest and coastguard showed "action

pope. >> kathleen kane is due back in court august 24. she surrendered yesterday to authorities in norristown and did not enter air plea during five minute video arraignment during a magistrate. she's accused of liking grand jury information to a newspaper and lying under oath she did it to retalliate against a former state prosecutor who made her look back. despite mounting calls for resignation she said she will fight the charges and not step down. >> a 19-year-old from west philadelphia who is about to go off to college was shot and wounded during a party being held to celebrate his accomplishments. police say before 11:00 last night the gunman showed up outside the party and confronted the gunman near 60 and locust. the attacker pulled out a gun and struck the teenager waits twice in the hip. the victim was taken to presbyterian hospital where he remains in stable condition

near the grand canyon. it stretches 100 miles to new mexicoch the water contains heavy metals lead and arsenic. drinking water in the area is safe and people are warned to stay out of the river. wildfire in arizona is threats eping 1,000 homes enforcing entire khunties to evacuate. right now it's burning through 6,000 acres of land and the cause of the fire is under investigation. but there was lightning in the area when it started and so far the fire remains uncontained. strong wind and dense dry brush made efforts that much more difficult for firefighters. >> we're getting more information tonight about murders of eight p.m. inside a home near houston texas the suspect is behind bars channeled with murdering two adults and six children and motive appears to have been a domestic dispute with woman named valley jackson and man named david conley the suspect had a previous relationship with valley jackson. investigators say yesterday when conley came to the house

will be a tad more humid, 69 at 6:00 and 8:00, temperature at 72 and much of the day tomorrow is quiet. there could be isolated down pour or shower especially west of philadelphia early hazy sunshine 83. and that high to north again winds wrap around the high out of the east south easterly direction and then the warm front arrives tomorrow night with a low level jet that strong winds just above the surface and that will spark downpours and thunderstorms in the wee hours of tuesday morning and that will be the heaviest action and then isolated storms throughout the day on tuesday at 82. here's your storm timeline. really not much tomorrow. maybe isolated shower or downpour. overall quiet monday. then 1 a.m. through 5 a.m. tuesday that's when the stron strongest storms will pass through. gusty winds, torrential rain could jolt you out of bed and then tuesday itself some scattered downpours and thunderstorms lingering after that main action escapes right

over cowboys camp today. pilot of that plane tells 6abc he could not fly the banner to taunt the cowboys because airport in california was shot down due it a crash involving another care caxt eagles rookie corner gentleman korey sheppard carted offer the field with right leg injury after colliding with sproles. he will have an mri tomorrow. >> speaking of corners nolan carol and rowe are fighting for the starting job. carol is going into the second season with eagles more and more comfortable and so much so he's taking on what of a leadership role. >> he's completely in leading the way saying guys, this way, follow me it's been neat watch. >> we want to make sure every single day we are always trying to improve as a unit not necessarily individual stuff right now even though we're concentrated on that to a certain extent. we're focused on the team.
