in chester. the police hope it will be the key to funding the gunmen next. . i love it here. we are never moving to the suburbs. we are never getting one of those (minivan). we are never having another kid. i'm pregnant. i am never letting go. for all the nevers in life, state farm is there. ♪ "action news," delaware valley's leading news program with jim gardner. it happened on the streets of wilmington, delaware this afternoon. and tonight police are searching for a gunman. a 25-year-old woman has died from a gunshot wound. when they find the shooter, he will be charged with murder.

it is monday night and the big story is one dead and two wounded, the human toll in the wake of a shooting this afternoon. live at wilmington police tonight, annie mccormick, what are the details there? >> so many questions for the police. was it a random act? or were one of the three in the case targeted? the young woman killed. she has two children, one boy and one girl. and one of those in the hospital also shot was her daughter. gunfire in wilmington in midafternoon, within minutes after the 20k -- 2:00 shooting the police swarmed the home. and a 4-year-old girl shot in her leg and the mother shot in her torso. and her son was inside, running out of the house for help, but his mom later died.

>> he kept saying my mom is going to die. my mom is dead. i said we are not going to talk like that, make sure we pray on it, make sure mommy is ok. >> and a block away another victim discovered. >> and i heard a shot and saw my friend with my mom. and when i got closer somebody was yelling "it's your mom." >> she was shot in her leg and her daughter spoke to us telling us her mom was an innocent bystander and still in the hospital. >> the bullet between her bone and main artery in her leg. >> the police are releasing little information. tonight the friends on the block worked on making signs in honor of the victims, including the young mother killed. and back out here live, we are told by a family friend that 4-year-old was in the i.c.u. and the family tells us she is expected to have surgery. but when she went into the hospital she was conscious and talking. at this point, the police have

not released any information about a suspect. reporting live in wilmington, delaware, annie mccormick channel "action news". we have breaking news from chester where we obtained the surveillance video of a drive-by shooting outside of a corner store. a woman struck by gunfire on the 2000 block of edgemont avenue, happening over two hours ago. running into the store, people rushed to her aid as she checks to see how badly she was wounded. she is transported to the hospital but her condition not released. and the police have not released suspects or what prompted the drive-by shooting. expecting stormy weather tonight and perhaps tomorrow afternoon. live at the big board tonight is cecily tynan. >> we are expecting two rounds ever rain moving in. the most substantial in the

overnight hours. and showing two areas of some heavy rain. one over west virginia, and another other virginia. and that is associated with a warm front. the two areas combine forces and move in after about 1:30 in the morning in the western suburbs, we have one renegade line. no lightning strikes associated with it, but heavy downpours working north and east. really the main focus of the heavy precipitation will be in the overnight hours. and futuretracker showing unfortunate timing for the morning commute. it looks like it will be right over the philadelphia area around 7:00 in the morning with heavy downpours, some rumbles of thunder. that's with a warm front. and after that the warm sector of the storm and a cold front moves through late in the day in the afternoon. bringing more scattered storms and they could contain isolated damage and wind gusts. the morning commute, my advise is allow extra time with downpours and the fact the roads

will be wet. there could be ponding on the roads, localized flooding. it will be a slow morning commute. i will talk more about the system in the afternoon and what to expect behind it in the full accuweather forecast. >> thank you, cecily. we want to show you the way it looked last night after a woman drove her car into a house in northeast philadelphia. tonight the police say the driver of the car, 34-year-old katherine ryan has been charged with drunk driving. inside of thes house, 85-year-old carmen adamo suffered only minor injuries, but this capped a brutal week for the 85 year old. his wife died of cancer last week. he described the moment of impact. >> it was like a large explosion behind me. the whole house shook and i shook. >> i was relieved to see he was awake and alert and talking. the cut upset me a little with the stitches but glad he is ok. >> the house in the 8600 block

of bustleton avenue sustained major damage, in large part because the car exploded inside. as for adamo, he is moving into a nursing home. >> and the scene in lansing, michigan, a car crashing into a home erupted into a fireball. the authorities released this video recorded by a fire truck's dash cam. the vehicle apparently was rear-ended by a hit-and-run driver and it careened into the home rupturing the gas line and causing the explosion. fortunately the driver and family inside of the home got out in time. a 12-year-old was rushed to the hospital after he was injured playing in the sand on the beach in surf city, new jersey this afternoon. he was digging a hole when the sand caved in. li lifeguards and bystanders freed him. and he was breathing in stable condition when flow to the hospital, no word on what caused the sand to collapse. this video clip is one of

because the only thing more important to them than ballet was each other. and communicating over the decades was extremely difficult cause of the long-standing u.s. sanctions against the communist island. one month ago the relations with cuba were normalized. and fast forward this evening the students at the academy ballet were taught by the master instructor of the cuba ballet known as margarita's sister. ramona says "for me this is like a dream. i had only seen my sister a hand full of times over the past 50 years and now i am here. it's amazing." i asked the sister it is they are bitter about what happened and the choice these had to make and they both said no, there is no sense in being bitter. the important thing is they are back together and looking for many years of catching up on a lot of lost time. walter perez for channel 6 "action news." still to come tonight, google shakes up its entire

we have developing news now from ferguson, missouri where tonight's peaceful protest at least in a few spots have turned violent. police now are forming a line. they put on riot helmets, at least a number of them have. some demonstrators reportedly

were throwing rocks at the police. protesters have been running. although you see right now the situation looks more stable. but this is clear, ferguson, missouri is under a state of emergency tonight as we now go live on the ground. a nearby highway was shutdown by demonstrators a short time ago. but as you can see, there is a heavy police presence. authorities are hoping to prevent a repeat of last night's violence. during protests to mark the one-year anniversary of michael brown's death, an 18-year-old was shot and critically injured by police. lawmen say they returned fire after the teenager shot at them. earlier today there were dozens of arrests at the federal courthouse in st. louis. but for the most part, those demonstrations remains peaceful.

tonight there was a demonstration in philadelphia. the group met at brood and erie in north philadelphia. the keep up the heat rally was organized to mark the one-year anniversary of michael brown's death. the authorities tonight identified the yellow stone national park employee mauled to death by a grizzly bear and captured two bears who might have attacked. d.n.a. tests done on those bears. the park rangers say they have to be euthanized if they are indeed the killers losing the fear of strangers. lance crosby of montana was hiking alone without bear spray in a frequently-used area, not a dense forest. he is the eighth person to are killed by grizzlies at

trigger the heavy downpours, thunder and lightning is still south and west. the temperatures are holding in the 70s. and the high in philadelphia is 7 degrees below normal the coolest day since the 4th of july. 72 in philadelphia same in millville. 71 allentown. wilmington 73. trenton 73. sea isle city currently 75 degrees. satellite 6 along with action radar showing you can see the heavy rain to west virginia and virginia. it is intensifying as it moves closer. it will get picked up what is known as the lower level jet. the ribbon of air about 5,000 feet in the atmosphere. what this does, it adds moisture and creates more lift. that can really support the thunderstorms. around 5:00 you can see some of the thunderstorms moving in. at 8:00, intensifying right over philadelphia. we get a bit of the break in the action midday before a cold front moves in. this brings us another round.

it looks like it will be more scattered in variety. it could have gusty winds as it moves through. really, two key times between 2:00 in the morning and 8:00 in the morning. this is when we get the solid line of heavy downpours with thunderstorms. may wake some people up when you hear the rumble of thunder, clap of lightning. between 1:00 and 7:00 in the afternoon, the head of the cold front more scattered thunderstorms. these could contain isolated strong, damaging wind gusts. after that we clear out. futuretracker showing the rain tomorrow looking at any from a half inch of rain to an inch and a half of rain. much-needed rain, but whether it falls that quickly it can cause a lot of run-off and can cause localized flooding. down the shore not a nice beach day. but if you are other than the beach, be aware of moderate risk of rip currents. and clouds and gusty thunderstorms. and the exclusive seven-day forecast tomorrow, very humid with a thunderstorms early in
