north and east of boston that brought a quick burst of rain earlier this morning in the area and now the cold front is passing through in the area of thunderstorms and 256 within thispoint. the northern end of center city in northeast philadelphia, brief, heavy rain there, a few lightning strikes about 10 in the last 15 minutes in the entire viewing area that extends in bucks county and langhorne and trenton, you can see some particular rainfall totals as this is passing through, per hour rates, a half inch to 2 inches per hour that is falling with these storms, they are not sitting but moving at 20 miles per hour, you get a quick half inch of rain as the storms pass by, as you lift to the north, trenton is try and a few

sprinkles beginning to break out and a quick hit of heavy rain and newtown heading towards trenton and a wet drive south of philadelphia, near wilmington and southern parts of new jersey, this is more light rain in general for newcastle county and it turns steadier and heavier with the storm near bear, delaware, with 48 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes, through the rest of the afternoon and the rest of the afternoon and evening, the broken line of storms moving into new jersey and southern delaware and dangerous lightning at times and a half inch of rain, some ponding on the roadways and a few to have wins up to 45 miles per hour.

from center city, the man who was hit was literally knocked out of his sneaker and was pronounced dead at the scene. john rawlins will have more coming up on "action news" at 6:00 and all updates for you online at 6abc.com. a woman in a wheelchair died this morning when her house caught fire in chester county, it started at 4:45 a.m. on the 300 block of west main street in parks burg, they found the victim once they got inside. they say she was wheelchair bound in her 30s and have not yet told us her name. five cats and a dog also died. they had trouble fighting the fire because of hoarding conditions in the home. david henry will have more coming up on this story at 5:00. a man is now charged with murdering his own mother in newcastle county last year,

police announced the arrest of michael rivera, police say he killed 57-year-old wanita warner, that fire displaced 40 people and he is also charged with arson and is in custody on unrelated charges. we now know the name of the woman murdered in wilmington and the shooting center her young daughter to the hospital. she was shot and killed yesterday afternoon in a house on the 400 block of west 7th street, her little 4-year-old daughter was also shot but she is in the hospital and expected to survive, a third victim a 31-year-old woman is also in the hospital, police have not said who did this or why. pennsylvania governor, tom wolf, is once again calling on attorney general, kathleen kane, to resign as she prepares to

tim curly and graham span ard all made pleas today in court, the lawyers said their clients did not have advocate time to get attorneys in this case and prosecutor frank fina used privileged communications between the school's council and the three men, the case against them could not move forward if the judge does not side with them. it happened just after midnight, back on july 30th a woman watched as a woman walked up to buy cigarettes but he went around the side and shoved the cashier and took a few cartons and ran out. he and the woman got into a dark colored saturn waiting outside, police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.

particular line, and the biggest concern of this is winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, we have lightning in smyrna and parts of newcastle county but the area we are targeting is still in maryland along route 301, heading northern and east towards marydel and towards canterbury that is where the severe storm is pushing and most of the towns are in the state of maryland right now but we'll watch this line as it pushes to the south and east over the next 20 minutes, also to the north and east we are tracking an area of heavy rain move ago way from trenton and florence and that extends down into northeast philadelphia and parts of center city still getting hit by heavy rain and 42 lightning strikes and nothing severe right now and as this particular area passes through it drops 2 inches per hour and moving at 20 miles per

>> south of dover but the rest of us getting much needed rain around here and this is round two of the rain, as we look at double scan live radar right now it's a broken line south of trenton snakes its way through center city and southern parts of new jersey and delaware as we close in, into the area where we have the warning it continues until 5:15 and it's mainly south of dover is where we are watching that particular thunderstorm, heading towards fredericka, and winds of 17 miles per hour as we watch this line through dover and merrydel, and that line kind of winds its way to bridgeton and malaga, and fortescue, heading towards millville at 5:00, the area near bridgeton pushed in and 59 lightning strikes in the last few minutes and of course that dangerous lightning as well.

>> it canceled. >> that severe thunderstorm warning canceled early as we look at that radar, most of that pushed to the south. as we look at double scan, philadelphia seeing some moderate rainfall for all the major interstates for center city, georgetown, wrightstown heading into parts of burlington county eventually ocean coins, and 6 lightning strikes and most of that is south and east of the new jersey turnpike, 82 in millville and sea isle city, the rain has cooled temperatures off and still tropically humid. 72 in trenton as well as wilmington. the first round of rain this morning is now in northern new england and this is the cold front passing through sparking the additional downpours and thunderstorms, behind this area of rain, dew points are dropping into the 50s really quickly.
