northwest that's associated with a very week cold front that could trigger an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the poconos this afternoon. everybody else stays dry. day planner looks fabulous, lunchtime, 87 degrees, 3:00 p.m., 90. 6:00 p.m., 89 degrees, the fact that the humidity is so low, the heat index value will be a degree or two cooler than the actual air temperature which is rare. we'll talk about the chance of isolated thunderstorms and lots of 90s in the seven day. i'll have the details when i see you in ten minutes. >> chester police are looking for a gunman in a double shooting. the victims are 18 and 9 years old. both were shot on the front porch of a home. the 18-year-old was hit in the foot. another bullet grazed the hand

of a 9-year-old boy. the victims are hospitalized in stable condition. investigators have not said if either were targeted or why. chopper 6 hd was above a fire that destroyed five homes in trenton late last night and left a woman in critical condition on her birthday. it happened after 10:00 p.m. on the 200 block of hills place. the blaze went to four-alarm before firefighters brought it under control. five homes were destroyed leaving 18 homeless. a woman celebrating her 22nd birthday was severely burn and is in critical condition. fire officials are looking for what may have sparked this blaze. we're at the "action news" big board. take a look at the countdown until pope francis arrives in philadelphia for the world meeting of families, we're 42 days away, city officials are making preparations around the clock for the pontiff's visit.

for some who live in the city, decisions on parking are not sitting well. presidential candidates are pouring into iowa, the site of the first caucuses in the race for the white house. democrat hillary clinton and donald trump front runner will appear in iowa today. the economy is foremost of the 9 of potential voters in iowa. donald trump will be taking a break from campaigning so he can return to manhattan to return for jury duty. new york daily news reported trump has i ignored five jury summons since 2006. his team confirms he plans to honor the summons. some local firefighters are heading west to battle wildfire. 20 firefighters leave today to take on flames raging in oregon,

montana and idaho. three engines left yesterday, they will be on assignment for two weeks. the trucks are designed to get water into remote areas. three years later, super-storm sandy's punch is still being felt in new jersey. the federal agency is asking residents to submit claims by september 15th. it's part of a compromise after state law fake makers -- lawmakers filed an extension. claims can be made at fema's website. are -- police have locked down schools in tennessee. eva, it's not too bad out there, but the humidity will be increasing this weekend. we have another heat wave on the

police officers are accused of a murder plot. an attorney arranged the 2012 killing of this man, corey koffman. the attorney believed koffman was stealing antiques from his property. the attorney got two brothers to carry out the murder. several former and current highway patrol officers allegedly helped mislead investigators. the officers knew the brothers. seven school bomb threats are under investigation in tennessee. suspicious calls came in, but no explosives were discovered. at this point there is nothing linking all the threats. a brushfire was on the move in texas. flames marched across several

normally we should be around 86. we had four straight days below average temperatures. thursday, 84. yesterday even though we topped out at 88 with the humidity as low as it was it felt okay. today, 90 low humidity levels. 66 in wilmington an dover. millville, 62. sea isle city, 69. we talk about the increase in humidity, but really this is not all that bad. we had a heat wave i believe it was the second heat wairvel of wave. year, when the dewpoints were up in the 70s. this is borderline humid. the feels-like temperatures a degree warmer than the actual air temperatures by the middle of next week. we can handle that. satellite and radar, we can handle that, nothing going on. high pressure system will be drifting across the country and kind of set up right over top of

the eastern seaboard over the carolinas. it brings the heat along with it. we take that pleasant air mass and shove it out to sea and we get into the southern plains air that means hot and noticeably more humid. the reason i'm saying noticeably, because it's been beautiful over the last several days. you'll handle it, it won't be that bad. we have a forecast of 90, it will feel like 89 it will feel a degree cooler than the air temperature today. tomorrow, pretty much the same thing. we're forecasting a high of 93. we have an air temperature two degrees cooler. for the poconos, lovely up there, warm and comfortable. slightest chance of a pop-up shower. drive, sunny and warm, 85 degrees, the ocean temperature down the shore

chopper 6 over the scene. the fire destroyed five homes and left 13 people displaced. officials have not said how the fire started but a woman who lives nearby said she heard a loud boom and saw a flash of light. >> i heard everybody screaming and kicking in doors and windows. the little girl waim outside her body was -- a little girl came outside and her body was actually on fire. >> number of fire companies were called out to help because of water issues. crews had a hard time act -- accessing the alleys here. crews from montgomery battled this blaze in montgomery county. chopper 6 over the 700 morocco morocco -- 700 block of south

broad street in lansdale. flames quickly consumed the restaurant as well as apartments on the top floor. it took crews three hours to get the fire under control. it is not clear how it started. nobody was hurt. a penns landing hotel became a crime scene after a large amount of drugs were found. philadelphia police converged on the hilton last night and took four men into custody for questioning. "action news" reporter, sharrie williams has exclusive video. >> reporter: it's a sight that doesn't happen often at least not here. police swarmed the popular hilton hotel along penns landing. >> we could see the lights from a few blocks away. >> reporter: sources tell "action news" a hotel employee spotted suspicious items in one of the rooms. philadelphia police were called into investigate and say they found a large amount of drugs and a loaded weapon. >> 3 1/2 kilos of alleged cocaine, what appears to be

cocaine packed in a kilo type form and loaded semi automatic handle gun. >> reporter: police waited for the owners of the room to return and took them down causing a big commotion. >> i had no idea what they were here for, i thought was a concert or crowd control for the harbor park. i'm shocked to sheer what it was. >> it's a great community it's a cool spot to hang out in philly. stuff happens everywhere. >> reporter: police say they are working to acquire a search warrant to go inside that hotel room. meantime we are being told, four men, four guys are being held and questioned. along penns landing, sharrie williams channel 6 "action news." >> police are looking for three men on atvs in connection with a shooting in kensington. a 29-year-old man was shot on the 2900 block of d street.

three men rode up pulling a gun fired a shot and hitting the victim in the back the 3 took off. >> 29-year-old victim is in temple hospital in critical condition. it is unknown whether he will survive the gunshot wounds. >> police say there's a nearby business with surveillance videos that captured the entire incident. this time they don't have a motive. simmering tensions turned to assault in north philadelphia when one woman attacked another with a frying pan. the fight sent a woman to the hospital and another to jail. it happened on the 2300 block of north reese street. the argument was over an ipad. a sprint car driver from bucks county has been killed in a freak accident. james campbell junior died after his car hit a wall and caught fire in cumberland county. the crash happened during warmup

lapse. the speedway canceled the rest of the race and all of today's events. officials don't know what caused a small plane to crash in allentown injuring the pilot. police rushed to the scene at the little lehigh creek yesterday pest of the i-78 overpass. an experimental plane crashed in 6 to 8 feet of water. the pilot was rushed to the hospital conscious, but hurt, no word on his injuries. people from all over the world will be traveling to philadelphia in just a few weeks for the world meeting of families and pope francis' historic visit. airport officials are busy preparing they have improved the by wi-fi and added led lights. older signage has been replaced. 900 staffers are getting

the slightest breeze out of the southwest at 2 miles per hour. atlantic city we're seeing a water temperature of 76 degrees air temperature, 71 and we get into louis, delaware. air temperature, 67. winds out of the southwest at 6 miles per hour. the water temperature is 74. a little bit farther out, sming same sming -- same thing. the 76 degrees. delaware bay quiet, flat, not a beth -- breath of air out of the west. it's a perfect afternoon for boating or fishing or relaxing on the sand. 73 in philadelphia. dewpoint, 63. winds out of the south at 6 miles per hour. that will usher in more humidity. today is all right. reading, 65 and allentown, 64 all these numbers should come back down later this afternoon. when we get into the low 60s

that's slightly humid. but these will drop into the upper 50s by afternoon. tomorrow it's when they get into the mid 60s and they will stay there. high pressure in control that means all is quiet up and down the entire eastern seaboard. there's a small cold front that will pull through new england later this afternoon. the bottom edge of it if you will will swing through the poconos it could trigger a late-day shower or thunderstorm even though this model says no. be on the look out if there's you're heading to the poconos slight chance of shower or thunderstorm. delaware valley completely dry, sun and clouds. the lehigh valley there's a chance of pop-up shower or thunderstorm late. mostly sunny skies and temperatures near 90 degrees. mostly sun for the lehigh valley hot, but not humid, 89 degrees is the forecasted high for allentown and bethlehem. jersey shore, lots of sun, don't forget to apply the sunscreen.
