"action news" tonight is the heat, after a few days of milder conditions, the heat is on once again, and this is only the beginning. some people enjoy summertime conditions outdoors, cooling off a little water ice but lucky ones are those who chose this week to hit the the jersey shore. sky six taking a live look at atlantic city where conditions are right for enjoying the sand and the surf. let's go to meteorologist melissa magee at the big board with the first check of the accu weather forecast, hi there, melissa. >> at the shore is where you can beat the heat today. looking at numbers along the coast, 81 beach haven. eighty at the boardwalk. eighty in sea isle city. inland that heat is definitely on. 89 degrees in philadelphia after a high of 91. this will more than likely mark the beginning of a very long heat wave, across the delaware and lehigh valleys. looking at the dew point it is level of the moisture in the air. it is hot but dew points letting you know it is comfortable. we have dew points below 60 degrees. air mass is not bad. that is more than likely going

to change as we get in the second half of the weekend. if you are stepping outside on the town tonight more specifically, heading up north in the lehigh valley, snoop doggies set to take the the stage for musikfest at 91:10 p.m. tonight, partly cloudy and warm with a temperature for the start of the concert coming in at 82. so we will talk about what is ahead. humidity returns for second half of the weekend. lots of 90's on the board and more than likely an extended heat wave lasting into next weekend. we will talk about the numbers, walter with the full, exclusive accu weather forecast. >> thanks, melissa. more than a dozen people are homeless tonight after a fire ripped through five homes in trenton and one of them a woman who was celebrating her birthday and she's now hospitalized in chris are california condition. fire fighters are still on the scene tonight from 20 hours after the fire first broke out along the 200 block of hills place. "action news" is learning that these homes have been damaged so badly, most or all of them will now to have be demolished. "action news" reporter jeff

chirico is live with the details, jeff? >> reporter: that is right, walter. we are as close the fire scene as we can get right now. you cannot see homes from here but you can see fire truck still in front of the burned homes. right now investigators on the scene trying to determine what caused the fire that burn, one woman, over most of her body. the charred remains of the row homes now face demolition a day after a fast moving fire engulfed the block. chopper six over the scene of the 200 block of hills place shortly after ten friday night. three of the five homes destroyed were occupied. jevon richardson was laying across the street. >> i was laying in bed. i heard like a big explosion. i heard, you know, people screaming, so i ran outside to see what it was and i looked to the left and then seen the house was engulfed in flames. >> reporter: officials say one woman a 22-year old who had just celebrated a a birthday part that i night suffered burns over 07 to 80 percent of

her body. how weeze rodriguez on the right tells a translator what he saw. >> he came out, all burned up, and he tried to cover up. to get off the fire. >> reporter: officials say fighting the fire was made more difficult because of the narrow alley and bad water pressure. tajers from neighboring counties in pennsylvania responded. now the city plans to demolish what is left of the home leaving people who live across the the street, temporarily homeless. >> i was told two to three days before i can go back to my house. i'm iting out here right now waiting for red cross to talk to them, so, put me up somewhere until that time. >> reporter: now, this alley is the the reason why some folks just can't return. it is so narrow so when crews start to demolish buildings they are afraid those living across the house could be put in danger, so that is why they are keeping those folks out of the home as well. right now we understand that 13 people are homeless, some

of those will be able to return to their home, others, of course, their homes have been destroyed. we are told one fire fighter was also taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion, he is okay right now and that woman we don't have her name but we are told that she's critically burned. live from trenton, jeff chirico for channel six a "action news". >> thanks for that update. "action news" has new information tonight about last night's big drug bust in the popular hilton hotel on penns landing. investigators tell us they used surveillance video from the hotel to identify a suspect after a hotel employee reported, seeing something suspicious inside one of the rooms. officers were outside the hotel and suspect pulled up inside a vehicle with the three other men. all four were taken into custody without incident. the pursuing investigation, police found a loaded handgun and more than 2-pound of illegal narcotics in the room upstairs. police in chester are searching for the the gun man responsible for a shooting that sent a nine year-old and a 18 year-old to the hospital. authorities tell "action news" that the two victims were

sitting on the front stoop of the home on the 1,000 block of potter street late last night. the 18 year-old was shot in the leg and nine year-old boy suffered a grazed wound to his hand. both are in stable condition tonight. well, some block captains and local activists celebrated another year of working together, to keep their neighborhoods safe. they gathered to hold a black captain boot camp at beaver hill street in west philadelphia a councilman curtis jones, junior hosted this event. each captain took a pledge to up hold their duties and to provide security and leader this ship for all their neighbors. federal aviation administration says it has resolve the computer problem that caused widespread flight delays all across much of the northeastern u.s. faa says it is working closely with airlines to resume their normal schedules after dozens of flights were delayed in new york, washington and north carolina. it apparently happened because of a malfunction at an air traffic control center in virginia. still no word though why it

spending last weeks of his vacation running. he made a pledge to rub every single day to help a little girl who spent her summer vacation, battling cancer. "action news" reporter trish hartman has their story. >> reporter: on most days 11 year-old ryan, runs in middletown township with his mom jeaninne but his socks are often consumed by one thing. >> it is a hard to deal with cancer, and if my sister had it, i know somebody else would do it the for her. >> reporter: he's talking about six year-old isabel o'brien, the sister of one of his friend. in march she was diagnosed with stage four ralph dough my owe sarcoma a rare form of cancer that connects the body's tissues. he wanted to help isabel, using something that he knows that he does real well. >> i was really good at running. so, i just wanted to run for isabel and raise more money. >> reporter: for 33 days, ryan will run up and down the streets of his neighborhood. so far his longest run has

been 6.2 miles and he hopes to go further but he says that his most important goal, it is to raise $10,000 for isabel's family. after months of chemo, and pro ton therapy at chop, isabel's father says her tumor is shrinking but he says unexpect expenses like travel costs and wigs for his daughter who lost all of her hair quickly add up. >> it is wonderful to know that we have that cushion that if something should happen we will not get put out on the street. it is great, having a kid help raise money like this is awesome. >> reporter: in ten days ryan has raised more than $1,900. >> people are so wonderful. the it shows ryan that you can make a difference. >> reporter: ryan will continue his daily runs through september 8th. you can donate on line at team isabella.org. in middletown township, trish hartman for channel six "action news". good for you, ryan. ryan isn't the only one with the big heart, coming up, on "action news" how a group of volunteers spent their saturday helping a teenager with a serious health issue that prevents her from going

i was at my shop tied up with a customer when i realized the time. i had to get to the bank before it closed, so i made a break for it. when i got out it was almost closing time. traffic was bad. i knew i was cutting it close. but it was ok. i use td bank. it's got the longest hours and stays open an extra ten minutes every day. i'm sid. and i bank human at td bank.

with united way to organize this school supply drive-in front of the boscovs there. they collected supplies to fill more than 300 backpacks, for needy children in the area. more than a dozen local companies and or organizations also donated to this cause. well, some volunteers spent their saturday morning renovating a a new room for a teenager from king of prussia dealing with the serious health issue. taylor nearin has mass cell activation disorder rendering her unable to go outside especially in the spring and summer. so home depot volunteers painted a chalkboard wall and installed a new ceiling fan. >> i'm thankful for them to give up their own time to go hang out with my friend since i cannot get outside with my disease. it is nice that someone wants to to something for me. >> it makes all of the difference in the world for me to raise and put a smile on someone else's face. >> mass cell activation disorder is a a rare conditions that leaves people
