high, and they don't have a beach to go to, there were some 86 heat-related emergencies. this morning, brutal. >> triple difficults. miserable. >> reporter: temperatures skyrocketing. >> the humidity was out of control. it made it even hotter. >> reporter: roughly 14 million people under excessive heat warnings. >> we had multiple patients. >> reporter: the mercury hit record-breaking highs on saturday in arizona. 21 people taken from the stadium to be taken for heat-related illnesses. in phoenix, officials called out twice to rescue hikers. further west, swarms of sting rays drawn to l.a. county beaches. the sweltering heat proving to be your tires' worst enemy. putting drivers at risk. road surfaces at 148 degrees.
