the kidnapping and sexual assault of a little five-year old girl. only chopper six was over the philadelphia police special victims unit tonight to catch exclusive video of this suspect being transferred late this evening. now as the investigators tell us the accused child molester is only 15 years old, and "action news" reporter dann cuellar has been covering this case from the start and dann, tell us about this major break in the case tonight. >> reporter: well, monica, it was a case that left residents in the 2600 block of north hutchinson living in fear, since then, victim and her family have been living elsewhere but tonight residents can rest easier. sources tell "action news" that the 15 year-old boy is to be formally charged with the kidnapping, beating, and sexual assault of the five-year old little girl. chopper 6hd was only one there as 15 year-old suspect was loaded on the police wagon for trip to be formally charged. detectives from the special victims unit took him into custody late today and brought him in for questioning.

incident took place on july 30th, police say sometime overnight a strange are broke in the hopkins family home through a window. he apparently came across the five-year old in the hall, child would later tell the the mother this. >> she said man came from behind the closet door and grabbed my hand and made me go outside. i said was it a little boy, someone you have seen before? they said no. >> reporter: mother and family friend found the child lying in the weed filled backyard alive and covered in blood. photo sent to "action news" by the child's family shows extent of her injuries and being treated, in the intensive care unit at st. christopher's. police says little girl suffered head fractures and other injuries after being beaten, kick and sexually assaulted. neighbors were relieved to hear of the arrest. >> i hope they got the right person. i hope they do. because, it is a scary situation for anybody who has kid around here. and, everybody is so cautious about, you know, their children, what they want done.
