line of duty, how family and friends honored moses walker this morning. but the big story is the shoot that left a child in critical condition, a 10-year-old boy was shot in the head overnight in wilmington. katherine scott is following the story all morning long. >> reporter: sara, what exactly happened here early this morning remains under investigation, we know that that 10-year-old boy remains in the hospital in critical condition, police have cleared away the crime scene tape, you can see the screen they were dusting for fingerprints earlier outside of that home, there are a lot of questions that remain and so far no arrests have been made. a line of police vehicles followed the ambulance early this morning that rush aid 10-year-old boy to the hospital, just before 2:00 a.m., police were called to the 700 block of townsend place and wilmington,

coming from the laundry room door, and you heard explosions, and people went around banging on people's doors to get out. nine people were displaced by the firing, no word on what sparked the flames. family and friends of slain philadelphia police officer, moses walker jr. remembered him this morning at a prayer ceremony, they met outside of the 27th police district, those gathered prayed together and released balloons for officer walker, he was shot in a robbery attempt on this date in 2012, the man who shot him was sentenced to life behind bars. as we get ready for the papal visit, "action news" is gathering stories from argentina, where pope francis was born and raised. jim gardner is gathering more.

breaking news from the southwest section of southwest philadelphia where police were on the scene of what was a shooting here, it happened before noon time, this is 56th street and angora, a number of officers are trying to investigate and trying to find out what happened. one person was shot on this street, we saw police officers trying to mark shell casings and there looks like there might be some blood in the street, no word on the condition of the victim that was shot. or any information on the suspect. there is yellow tape there on the top of your screen, and it's near a day care, the one, two, three back to basics day care. the investigation is underway

a children's outpatient facility in kensington is getting a new fence thanks to these volunteers, employees helped to kick off the initiative called partners in caring and this was their first charity project. they sanded and paintsed an old picket fence that surrounds the playground, one of many locations that gets spruced up thanks to this new initiative. david murphy is here with the forecast on another hot day. >> things get better over the
