against filing charges against two new jersey police officers in the fatal shooting of a black man, the deadly encounter in bridgeton was captured by a dash-cam in december. 36-year-old jerome reed defied officer's ordered by stepping out of a car but had his hands raised. the officers say they feared for their lives and they both opened fire killing reed. again a new jersey grand jury voted not to file charges. david henry is following this story and we'll have details at 4:00. chopper 6 hd over breaking news from the manayunk section of the city where this large crane has toppled over, it happened within of the last 30 minutes on cotton street in manayunk, medics are on the scene and we know from a police source that the crane operator

has suffered minor injuries, just facial abrasions, it's unclear where exactly the crane is located. it looks like construction was going on here near railroad tracks, but a large crane here has tipped over here in the manayunk section of the city, this is 1 cotton street, we are just gathering the details, it looks like the canal is over there on your screen and yes it's the schuylkill river, there is construction here in the manayunk section of the city, again we are told only minor injuries to the crane operator, but a very large crane overturning, not far from main street there, we'll continue to monitor the situation in manayunk and bring you the information on air and online at

the u.s. forest service is mourning three firefighters that tied while battling a wild fire

in washington state. it happened yesterday. and today we learned their vehicle crashed and was likely overtaken by the flames, firefighters say it's difficult to stay on the front lines knowing three of their own died doing the exact same thing. >> it hurts and tears you apart and at the same time we would want to do what they would want and that is to finish the job. one firefighter was critically injured with severe burns. the governor has declared a state of emergency. it's a mystery as to why one woman stabbed another woman to death at a supermarket. wendy budrow died in the attack yesterday. she was the mother of five, they are still trying to establish a motive, so far there is no indication that the women even

home sales continue to rise last month at the strong of the pace in eight years, a national association of realtors said that existing home sales raised 2% in july and steady loan rates are encouraging people to purchase. scientists are determining why a gene tied to obesity makes people fat.

dots are normal but this lesion is not. small growths like cheryls show up on ordinary chest x-rays, it could hide behind the rib or heart or diaphragm muscle. most will not be caught until incurable. but a landmark study shows scanning with ct scans can cut deaths by up to 20%, it's now recommended for high risk people such as heavy smokers. or people that quit within the last 15 years, active duty military or minors should be screened with ct's along with people that have lung diseases like copd, cheryl is new counsel free and has stopped smoking and is back to an active life. >> it was a blessing for me. >> it really did save her life.

david here now with a check of the accuweather forecast. i walked my daughter to camp and it was like a layer of soup. it was thick. >> easing back a bit with the humidity but it's sticky the rest of the way, as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan we are looking at the development of showers and eventually thunderstorms, the biggest cells locally right now is on the eastern shore of maryland and coming straight through the heart of kent county delaware, and if we go farther to the north, parts of chester county is beginning to pick up this latest round and they are not super heavy and don't last real long in chester county, a sign of things to come, in fact if we go wider you can see a cluster of more pronounced showers and thunderstorms by get burg, and they are circulating to the north and areas close to southern maryland and sussex,

tell wear, and this slides slowly to the east and we are perhaps getting ourselves beneath more widespread drefrmging downpours. lets look out sky 6 hd earlier, a time lapse showing you the clouds around earlier in the morning hour. that is cloud cover circulating ahead of the frontal boundary to the left, and those clouds have a tendency to get thicker as the day goes on, a cool shot on sky 6, and our operator stephanie bryant for rolling the video for us. pretty cool. there is the shower activity, 87 is the temperature and dew point 67 down a bit from the low 70s where we were earlier this morning but a lot of the region looking at temperatures in the 70s, winds from the south at 10

miles per hour and the pressure is currently steady. 86 in allentown un82 in reading and 82 in millville and 81 in cape may. and future tracker 6 showing you as we go from here to 2:00 or 3:00 there is a chance of heavy downpours and perhaps lightning and thunder with these cells, we move on up to 6:00, this has a chance of tapering off a bit and it's in the middle of the region and out to the west not much over to the east, and then look what comes next in the face of that approaching cold front, we get a much more defined line of thunderstorms and that pops up at 11:00 and beyond and some of this may be around earlier tomorrow morning and we'll see if we dry out tomorrow afternoon, a spotty storm tomorrow with a high of 83, down the shore 84 and a chance of a rip current, even if you are in a spot where you don't see

the world on his cancer diagnose, there are spots on his brain and his treatment starts today. and investigators take down an alleged rapist accused of posing as a u.s. marshal. now the details on this developing story, former president, jimmy carter, gave new information about his cancer battle. that it's melanoma but spread to four spots on his brain, the spots are small, they were found after a tumor was removed from his liver earlier this month. he was relieved to see that the cancer was only in his liver. but not after the second diagnosis. >> i thought i had a few weeks left but i was surprisingly at eat, i have had a wonderful life and thousands of friends and i have had an
