name, they also they will do that once he is arraigned in darby township this afternoon. this is 30 minutes ago after the suspect was processed. police say the ordeal started when officers from several departments pond responded to mohawk mannor apartments. the officers were speaking to the man through the door when he fired shots through the door hitting mark hanley of the police department in the chest and leg, he was wearing a bullet proof vest. he was pulled to safety by the other officers and then rushed to crozer-chester medical center. a standoff took place for about an hour according to police, officers say the suspect was shot in the he elbow before he s taken into custody. for safety reasons the building was evacuated. we spoke to neighbors about the commotion. >> we woke up at 2:00 with cops

on the lawn. two cars. and then we were just like, something is going on outside, we ran outside, we said what's going on, a cop got shot. this is normally a quiet neighborhood you don't see this around here, not at all. >> reporter: and we've learned that officer hanley is the fire chief at the collingdale fire company. he is in stable condition at crozer-chester medical center. live in glenolden, trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> a man is in custody under suspicion of driving under the influence after a deadly accident in northeast philadelphia. a man died and his wife was hurt after another car hit their car causing it to flip over an woodhaven road. husband and wife had to be freed from the car and rushed to the hospital where the man died.

police are questioning a teenager in connection with a deadly hit-and-run. 69-year-old man was hit by a pick up truck crossing delsea drive while crossing. the 18-year-old went home saying he thought he hit something. the parents called police. in the meantime, officers took an intoxicated woman into custody driving through the road block at the scene. a store clerk is accused of groping customers. a customer at the villanova stop and shop said he assaulted her. appearing to hug the woman as he helped her make coffee. but he allegedly did more. have never had problems

with him, but they had one complaint last year and a local business other than told of two others. >> here's a developing story out of north philadelphia. police are searching for a 5-year-old girl, the girl's mother and 52-year-old person of interest. the girl has been missing since yesterday afternoon. police say the 5-year-old was in the care of a 65-year-old babysitter and 52-year-old woman named kendra at the home. the babysitter said she left the two to buy school supplies, when she returned the two were gone. the babysitter said she searched the neighborhood and unable to reach the mother. if you have any information about the missing persons philadelphia police want to hear from you. school bells will ring in

joins us live with details. trish? >> reporter: well, eva, police have not released the suspect's name, we know the suspect is here in a holding cell at the glenolden police department. police are preparing to arraign him and charge him in darby township. this is the video of the suspect after he was processed in ridley township. he was in a hospital gown. several police departments were called to the mohawk apartments for a suicidal man. officers were speaking through the door he fired several shots through the front door hitting the officer in the chest and the leg. authorities say hanley was wearing a bullet proof vest which deflected the shots to the chest. he was pulled to safety by other officers, the standoff happened for an hour, the suspect was shot in the elbow before he was taken into custody.
