deadly police shooting, and more on a family struck by a car in new jersey. but the big story on "action news" is the charges filed after decomposing bodies were discovered in a funeral home operating without a license. annie mccormick is live with new information. >> reporter: sara, philadelphia police have charged the funeral director, blair hawk ins of three counts of abuse of a corpse and they have no record of hawkins funeral service ever applying for a license. >> the medical examiner carried out three bodies at 53rd and vine, state department investigators working on a tip called in southwest detectives after finding deplorable

conditions, one body was embalmed in a casket awaiting cremation and one was waiting to be embalmed and one was in a body bag, the funeral director says he did not know where that body came from. and they say there is no fridge ration inside and the bodies must be kept under 40 degrees, he told dann cuellar that he brought in hawkins to turn the business around and was out of town. >> the rules and regulations are clear how long a body can be kept out of refrigeration and not embalmed. >> did mr. hawkins not understand that or know that? >> it's my understanding that he did know that. >> philadelphia police responded to an unlicensed funeral parlor in the strawberry mansion section of the city, they found three bodies rotting and police say they were operating without

the beach here in atlantic city, and the stretch of hot and humid weather continues into the month of september, lets get i latest now from karen rogers over at the big board. >> hey sara, look at these numbers, 89 degrees, already in philadelphia, 85 in allentown un84 in reading, 87 in millville, the one difference down the shore in the last half hour, we started to see the sea breeze kick in, 79 cape may will fall, getting relief down at the shore. feels like 91 already in philadelphia when you factor in the humidity, and 93 in wilmington and dover and 90 in millville and 88 in trenton and 87 in allentown and we are really feeling the heat today, when you factor in the heat and humidity, the dew point is 66 degrees and you are feeling it. some areas it's hovering around 70, that oppressive humidity in

in texas. the 41-year-old was killed as police responded to a domestic disturbance on friday in san antonio. marcy gonzales has more from new york. >> reporter: the sheriff's department there says the man was resisting arrest and tried to use none lethal force before they opened fire but that does not fully explain what you are about to see. this video is raising serious questions in san antonio, two sheriff's department's shown shooting and killing a man who appears to have his hands up. college student, michael thomas, catching it on his cell phone and selling it. it shows the moments that they responded to a disturbance call on friday, you see gilbert floor ez running out of the home where he may have injured a

18-month-old girl and a woman, he seems to evade the officers and the other is shown raises just before deputies fire multiple shots, for the next three minutes, officers appear to leave flores on the ground. they call it unethical and sad and that the department receives death threats as a result. >> certainly what is in the video is a cause for concern, but it's important to let the investigation go through its course. >> the district attorney is investigating looking at this and one other video that reportedly shows a closer clearer view. >> this is a very unique situation we have the shooting on video and it gives us a whole different perspective. the justice department is monitoring investigation and meanwhile the two deputies are on paid administrative leave.

reporting live, marcy gonzales, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. detectives are investigating a shooting in chester, one person was shot around 6:00 this morning at west fifth and lloyd streets, police recovered numerous shell casings scattered around the scene, we are looking for more information -- a woman and her young daughters remain hospitalized after being hit by a car in lakewood new jersey, the driver did stop after they tried to cross route 9, the 27-year-old mom suffered facial injuries and two daughters were flown to the hospital in critical condition. lakewood police are investigating the crash. a new law may change the way your child rides in the car in the state of new jersey, all kids up to 2 years old or up to 30 pounds must be in a rear

the gunman vester flannigan took his own life. and a philadelphia police officer was shot responding to the wrong home, officers were looking for a suspicious person in the neighborhood and the caller only give a description of the house not an address. when they approached the house, shots rang out, the homeowner and the police officer were both shot in the leg. a brave girl helped to catch a burglar trying to break into her home when she was home alone. >> i'm upstairs in the closet trying to hide. and i don't know what to do. >> not only did she call 911, the girl took video on her cell phone, as the man snuck around to a neighbor's house and snapped that picture you just saw of him. officers caught up with him and arrested the suspect nearby and that he has a long record of breaking and entering.
