air-conditioning off this morning it's been the coolest it's been in two months. 56 in allentown. reading, 58. trenton, 59. dover, 60. philadelphia checking in at 64. you can go along and turn your air-conditioning off, as well. today will be a pleasant afternoon, high temperatures in the mid 80s, the you'll have to turn it back on as we get into tomorrow night and tuesday and wednesday as we start to see the heat and humidity build into the region. crystal clear skies, no issues this afternoon. mostly sunny that's the call from accuweather, pleasant. 86 degrees the forecasted high. slightest breeze out of the southeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour. lunchtime, 80 degrees, wall-to-wall blue skies, 3:00 p.m., 85. 6:00 p.m., 84 staying on the comfortable side. low humidity levels.

let's go searching for rain. we need some, we're four inches below where we should be for this time of the career. our next chance of rain doesn't arrive until thursday, sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, no shot of precipitation, thursday there's a cold front that approaches the area, that will trigger showers and thunderstorms, it appears as if that will be the first sign of a pattern change that will bring cooler temperatures consistently to the delaware valley. i'll talk about that and have the holiday weekend call for the city, shore and the poconos when i see you in just a few minutes. >> a fire left a mother and 6 children without a place to live. the blaze injured a philadelphia firefighter. flames and smoke ripped through the basement and first floor of the home on the 1200 block of north 55th street in west philadelphia. a firefighter fell through stairs and was taken to penn presbyterian hospital.

humidity will be nice and low. it's a dry heat. that changes tuesday and wednesday, especially for thursday when we start to get the dewpoints in the 70s, that will feel oppressive. satellite and radar, a few clouds starting to push into southern delaware, the mouth of the delaware bay, most areas will see mostly sunny skies this afternoon as high pressure stays firmly in control. there's the high right there. you see the shades of brown, clockwise spin that's slowly drifting off the coast, that will pour the dry air in from canada over the next 24 to 48 hours, as it pushes farther 'away, the return from the southwest taps into heat and humidity once again. future tracker 6, the funny thing we could let this run through thursday, there's nothing going on, the pattern is dry over the next four to five days. poconos sunny and warm, 80 degrees is the forecasted high. look at labor day.

man being pulled from his burning car in monroeville, allegheny county. the car burst into flames after the driver lost control and hit a utility pole friday night. the driver was thrown from the car. four strangers stopped after the crash and tried to douse the flames. they pulled the man to safety. one man who is a firefighter. >> they are the real heros, they could have ran, it was a bad bad fire, a bad scene, but they stayed and helped until the end. >> a passenger was ain't to get out of the car before it burst into flames. >> in "healthcheck," the academy of pediatrics are thinking about peanut allergies, doctors group recommend introducing peanuts between 4

right now. no humidity and down in the 50s, starting tomorrow, no, another heat wave spills into the delaware valley, how long does it last? by definition you need three straight days of 90 degrees or higher. maybe we see three straight days and it comes to an end. this shunlt be as long as another heat wave we've seen this summer season. here's a look at a few specific locations and how many times they hit 90 degrees so far this year. wilmington, 16. allentown, 17 times. atlantic city, 19. trenton, 24. look at philadelphia, 34 times so far this year we've hit 9 on the degrees or higher. the average is 27. so already well above that. we're at least adding three to that number, maybe four. 86 mostly sunny and pleasant this afternoon. tomorrow, sunny skies, hotter with a high of 90.

"action news" viewer captured this fire tearing through three houses yesterday afternoon. it it went to two-alarms before crews got the upper hand. the red cross is helping three families who were displaced. no injuries or a cause were reported. we are learning about the police k89 seriously injured during a call in reading, berks county. the dog is being cared for at penn vet in philadelphia.

annie mccormick followed up on house he is doing. coed -- cody was brought here by helicopter thanks to a special program for police dogs and search and rescue dogs injured in the line of duty. penn vet doctors are talking about the condition of cody. it was during a call to check out southwest middle school in reading he fell 15 to 20 feet from a cat walk. >> we are optimistic, he is making progress, his handler is up there, and i think he is very happy that want handler is there because he perked up for us. >> reporter: his hander grew concerned when he became will a.

trenton, 59. millville, 58. wilmington, 58 degrees, dewpoints nice and low, we're in the 50s once again this afternoon. no issues with the humidity until we get into tuesday. monday looks nice, as well. once we get into tuesday and wednesday, the high starts to push off the coast and the winds shift out of the south and eventually southwest, all the humidity down there across the carolinas and the virginias comes pouring into the area again. it turns increasingly uncomfortable over the next two days. it's holiday perfect with the high pressure planted over the atlantic. it dries things out and warms thing you mean, and it lowers the risk of cloud cover, the air sinks. if you don't have clouds you won't get any rain, we'll see blue skies for the next three or four days. tuesday, wednesday, thursday, you can see the soup down to the
