this morning. investigators tell us the victims were 25-year-old amanda digirolomo phoenixville and bryan botti of baltimore mad who was also 25. the two were reportedly in town for the made in america concerts and it was right around 4:30 this morning when they were crossing broad street near arch when they were hit by a taxicab. we're told digirolamo and botti went airborne on impact landing about 100 feet away. amanda was pronounced dead at the scene while brian died at the hospital a short time later. witnesses told police the cab was barreling down broad street is a high rate of speed. >> allegedly and again this is preliminary, the witness approximated their speed at being over the speed limit. that's all i can give you at this point. that has not boone confirmed. >> reporter: the cab driver is described as a 41-year-old man from philadelphia. police say he did stop at the scene but was soon hospitalized with chest pains. no charges have been filed so far and we're told the cabbie is cooperating with

investigators. we spoke with digirolamo's neighbors who say they can't even imagine what the family is going through. >> it's a shame. i mean, so young and an accident like that, i have three kids of my own and i can't imagine anything happening to them. >> reporter: now, we're he told there were no passengers inside that cab at the time and investigators are hoping to find surveillance video from the neighborhood where it happened to hopefully piece together exactly what happened. reporting live from phoenixville, walter perez channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you, walter. an accident involving a motorcycle ended in a fire ball on the schuylkill expressway early this afternoon. the action cam on the scene seconds before firefighters arrived. the car and motorcycle crashed at about 1 o'clock in the eastbound lanes near the montgomery drive exit. the 52-year-old biker was taken to the hospital in stable condition believe it or not. investigators have not yet determined what caused that crash.

the red cross is now assisting four families forced out of their homes by fire this morning. firefighters were called to the 4900 block of saybrook a avenue in southwest philadelphia. one person was taken to presbyterian hospital for treatment. the fire damaged five homes before crews were able to put it out. no word what sparked that blaze. a man was seriously hurt today after he got stuck beneath this farm equipment in bucks county. rescuers responded to the scene in hilltown township that was at 11:30 this morning. the victim was choppered to the hospital. police have not yet released details about the accident or the extent of the victim's injuries. well our weather certainly cooperated for folks trying to squeeze out the final few hours on the sand and at the boardwalk before the unofficial end of summer. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic is among those wishing for an endless summer today, aren't we all. she joins us live from ocean city. nora back to reality for most

here in center city for you. temperatures did hit 90 degrees officially so this is likely the start of the sickth heat wave of the summer. but what can we expect as folks do head back to school and work this week. meteorologist cecily tynan and accuweather have the answer. hi, cecily. >> hi, monica. well, summer vacation season may be over but the summer heat and humidity is making a comeback. this weekend, though, it was gorgeous. great weekend for outdoor activities by the beaches or by the pool. certainly a warm weekend saturday and sunday 88 degrees, today we bumped up to 90 degrees, that's 9 degrees above normal and temperatures will really be heating up tomorrow. allentown, tying a record high of 91 degrees. mount pocono also tying the record high of 85. reading hit 91. trenton hit 90. wilmington 91. millville 88. sea isle city with that sea breeze quite a bit more comfortable 84 degrees. and dewpoints slow you that it's just slightly humid in a few areas with dewpoints in the low 60's. 57 degrees in philadelphia the dewpoint, that's pretty dry

air mass. of course the dewpoints are higher down the shore with that sea breeze with that ocean influence but the dewpoints will be increasing as we head through the overnight hours. humidity levels increasing. and satellite6 along with action radar showing that high pressure will be a classic heat pump over the next two days. it will get hotter and it will get increasingly more humid. so, tomorrow as a lot of kids including my own head back to school for the first day of school, definitely dress them for a hot summer day. leave the fall clothes in the closet. at 7 o'clock, 72. by noon, 88. when the kids head back from school, by 4 o'clock, 93 degrees. the next two days temperatures will be up near record highs. i'll talk more about that and track a cold front that will bring us relief from the heat and finally some much needed rain. all the details coming up in the full accuweather forecast. monica. >> thank you cecily. well, as high heat and humidity do make a late summer comeback you can keep checking back with 6abc.com/weather and click on the social media link to get updates from the

"action news" weather team. well, many of us are enjoying a much deserved day off the labor day holiday, though, is meant to honor the american worker and the labor movement. proud union workers gathered this morning in philadelphia for the afccio 28th annual tri-state labor day parade and "action news" reporter vernon odom was there. >> ♪ >> reporter: thousands of rank and file union members marched up columbus boulevard as they always do on labor day. proudly representing unions across the delaware valley. the pennsylvaniaians are proud and happy to have a pro-labor democratic in the governor's office who is note shy about battling the gop controlled general assembly over spending priorities taxes and other legislation. >> we need a raise in the minimum wage. [cheers and applause] it means we also have to support the rights of workers to organize. [cheers and applause] it means we also have to support the right of workers to bargain collectively.

>> reporter: with key statewide elections around the corner and the presidential race heating up fast for 2016, the unions are gearing up to have a major impact on the national scene and here in the commonwealth as well. >> we have folks in the statehouse who dislike us. i mean, you know, you got a guy named wagner wants to put us out of business and most of them up there who are republicans who are on the far right don't feel we have a right to collective bargaining. >> reporter: for the rank and file their first concern is jobs and job security. >> the way the economy has been and unemployment and stuff, i think that we as construction workers have to stick together and vote for whoever is friendly to labor. >> definitely franchising the liquor board. we want them to not sell our liquor boards to keep them union jobs here in the state of philadelphia -- pennsylvania. >> reporter: organized labor claims they are still being hammered by the conservative right. the fight they say to survive will never end.

>> break news right now from woodland township new jersey where there is a forest fire burning 60 to 80 acres deep in the woods. the new jersey department of

environmental protection has confirmed no homes or structures are being threatened so that is the good news. this is deep in the forest. but because we have very dry conditions, this fire is expected to grow and heavy, heavy smoke right now not far away from route 72. it is not currently threatening that road. there are no road closures right now but firefighters are keeping an eye on it. they are attacking this fire by air dropping water on it right now. we'll keep an eye on it for you and let you know if there are any changes. right now a fire burning out of control in woodland township new jersey. firefighters on the scene so is chopper six and we'll be there for you throughout the evening. a woman is recovering after being shot in the leg with a bb gun on kelly drive early this morning. it happened about midnight near brewery hill drive. the 23-year-old victim told investigators she saw a group of men standing near a fountain before she was shot. she was treated for a puncture wound and was released from the hospital. police believe it was a random attack.

no arrests so far. investigators are trying to catch vandals who flipped a car in center city here. witnesses saw a group lift up the empty vehicle and turn it on its side. it happened at fourth and lombard about 3:00 this morning. unclear whether the suspects know the car owner. police are looking for the man who has tried to lure some children into his vehicle in reading berks county. at least three incidents have happened in july and august near the antietam swimming pool. police have received at least two reports of a naked man approaching some girls and offering them rides or propositioning them. now, all of the children were able to get away but parents who live in that neighborhood obviously say they're just afraid to let their kids go outside. >> it's a shame because the kids can't go out and play. >> i just can't believe somebody would do that and to children nonetheless. it's absolutely horrible. >> based on witness reports, police think the man is driving a blue suv possibly a hyundai santa fe.

anyone with information should of course contact crime alert berks tip line. this local police dog injured in the line of duty is out of the hospital and back home tonight. codey the police k-9 was injured friday night in reading. he fell 15 feet off the catwalk while searching a building. the dog was flown to the penn vet unit as part of a new program designed to transport injured police and search dogs to that facility. codey still needs some checkup visits and will be off duty now for at least two weeks. crews were busy today removing what is left of the made in america festival. they took down concert equipment and picked up all the trash along the ben franklin parkway. 70,000 people were expected to attend the two day festival over the weekend. many were there to see saturday night's big headliner beyoncé. but more than 30 acts performed on five different stages. the ben franklin parkway will reopen tomorrow.
