of that car. we are told it was a burgundy car with a green trunk and hood, possibly, possibly a pontiac grand prix but as you might guess police in the city of chester are fanned out from this area right now trying to hunt down that car, the driver of a burgundy car, green trunk and hood. again, possibly a pontiac grand prix but again, an officer injured this afternoon right there in chester in a hit and run, doing okay right now by all reports but a very active investigation under way in the city of chester this afternoon. >> yes and we take a look from chopper 6hd you can see his bicycle, his motorcycle still in the road and we're following another incident in chester at this hour. this one started early this morning with an fbi raid on a local home but agents say when they went end side, they were confronted by a man with a gun. the shooting started and now that suspect is dead and we're learning more about why agents were there in the first place. scene all day. she joins us live with the very latest. trish. >> reporter: well, sharrie, investigators are still here on highland avenue about 10 hours after this agent-involved shooting took place. take a look at the scene behind me. the police tape is still up and agents and investigators are still loading evidence into that crime scene unit here on highland avenue in front of the home. police say when federal agents came to the home to serve a child pornography warrant a man inside showed a gun, shots were exchanged and the man was killed. federal and local investigators swarmed the scene taking pictures and evidence from the home on highland avenue in chester where police say a man pulled a gun on federal agents serving a child pornography warrant. >> at 6 o'clock in the morning the gun shots. when the cops hollering get down on the ground, get down on the ground. >> reporter: neighbors say they heard a lot of gun shots weren't disturbed to find out one of their neighbors of more than 20 years was killed by

federal agents. >> back to back, back to back, no pause in them back to back. you seen the flashes and everything. >> reporter: as she took cell phone video after the shooting she said she saw the agents bring the man's mother out of the home in pink pajamas in shock. they put her in a vehicle. neighbors say the family, a man and his parents were quiet but friendly. >> this is definitely a shock to all of us because you can ask anybody around here and they'll tell you that they were nice people for real, nice people. >> reporter: sheila williams son with 10 children of her own was disturbed to hear this whole thing started with a child pornography raid. >> it's scary. i don't let them go far anyway but it is very scary. >> reporter: now, the name of that man who was killed today was not released. covering to the fbi, the agent-involved shootings are normally investigated by a team from fbi headquarters in washington, d.c. that review usually takes

these tickets were made available by the world meeting of families for free. philadelphia d.a. seth williams says it is illegal for individuals to scalp tickets. he says only licensed ticketing agencies protect buyers. >> remember to go to a credible web site if they want to purchase tickets, not just by going to craigslist and hoping that not own dollar they not get assaulted when they go to that home but that the tickets are valid. >> the archdiocese of philadelphia issued the following statement on the matter. it reads in part "papal tickets are never intendd to be sold. when we became aware we reported the matter to local law enforcement. we also reached tout to ebay and craigslist asking that any sales be halted. we're delighted to see that ebay has halted the sale of these tickets. scalping of tickets for papal events is shameful and reprehensible ." >> the boardwalk is ready to welcome a new miss america come sunday. the contestants are in town and they've already been competing. eva pilgrim is work this story

police are out there doing an investigation. so you see that the westbound lanes aren't looking too badly. that's because it's taking the vehicles awhile to get through that accident but if you're back there, at university there's about a 20 minute wait now to get through that point. so, keep that in mind on the schuylkill. moving over to the big picture you can see speeds across the region dropping down into the teens, slow going if you're on those southbound lanes of the blue route. also making your way out to 422 in the westbound lanes, you can expect to tap the brakes there as well. let's take a look at 95. 95 in those southbound lanes from woodhaven down to the vine street expressway taking you a little bit of time right now because we do have an accident out there. and also in chester, sharrie and brian were mentioning the hit and run accident. we have police out there investigating. this is at fourth and wharton avenue. stick to third or fourth to get around that. we'll bring you an update in the next half hour. back to you sharrie and brian. >> sounds good, autumn. thank you. still ahead, 11 shootings in less than two weeks on the same arizona highway but today police may finally have a

>> "action news" is following new developments surrounding the freeway shootings in arizona. authorities are questioning a man in connection with the crime. detectives say the questioning could go on for hours but so far the man has not been arrest heed or charged. 11 vehicles have been shot in the past 13 days. the most recent incident involved a commercial truck yesterday morning. >> well, it's a very candid and emotional interview with vice president joe biden giving us a glimpse into just how he's grappling with grief as he weighs a possible

presidential run. appearing on the late show with stephen colbert last night, biden said that at times he's overwhelmed by his son's death. beau biden died in may after a battle with brain cancer. the vice president says he doesn't think anyone has a right to run for president unless they're willing to give it 110 percent and right now he says he's not so sure he can do that. >> i don't think any man or woman should run for president unless, number one, they know exactly why they would want to be president and, two, they can look at the folks out there and say i promise you, you have my whole heart, my whole soul, my energy and my passion to do this, and -- and i'd be lying if i said that i knew i was there. >> the vice president is expected to make a decision about whether or not to run later this month or at the

latest early october. curious see what he has to say about that but a very emotional interview if you had a chance to watch the whole thing brian and sharrie. >> it was extraordinarily honest conversation. alicia thank you. >> time for accuweather. >> let's get to meteorologist adam joseph standing by with the accuweather forecast. >> big improvement from yesterday. we take a live look right now from the pagoda cam in reading looking west. a lot of sunshine, very comfortable temperatures, a light breeze out of the northwest and much lower humidity post all of those storms and downpours yesterday. 82 right now in allentown, 82 in reading, although the temperatures aren't all that bad there's still a little bit above normal in a couple locations but below normal as you head to the south because of thicker cloud cover so temperatures are still only in the upper 70's for millville atlantic city at the airport and trenton right now sitting at 80 degrees. we look at the dewpoints because this is the perfect number to look at if you want to know how it's going to feel when you step out.

when it's in the 50's it's very comfortable. mid or upper 60's it's still rather humid so you can still see southern areas are trying to bleed in some of that drier air from the north and west so taking a little longer for places like the shore to feel a little more tolerable out. as we look at satellite and radar we've got a stripe of rain already increasing so one system is departing, you get a quick dry wedge and then we already have the next low pressure that will develop and work to our north and west as we get into saturday. but until then, it's a perfect night for some of those high school football games, the 6abc high school huddle game of the week is north penn versus west catholic. partly cloudy, very comfortable. 78 degrees. around the start of those particular games and at 10 o'clock, our temperature sliding to around 71. and then for the rest of the overnight hours, we're going back into the 50's in those northwestern suburbs. 60 in millville, 66 philadelphia, just a few patchy clouds out there for most of the overnight hours, and then if you're up first thing early on saturday

morning, a decent amount of sunshine but it's not going to take long for the clouds to increase from the south and it turns rather humid tomorrow afternoon before that low pressure works to the north and west, and by 3 o'clock we start to see those scattered downpours and thunderstorms beginning to develop and it turns steadier and heavier as we get into the late afternoon and evening hours. and then that system starts to depart as we get into sunday morning. your four day at 4:00 forecast, some afternoon downpours and thunderstorms tomorrow at 82 degrees. and even though the rain ends on early sunday morning, it stays rather cloudy at 77 degrees, maybe a spitting shower in the afternoon but the steady rain is long gone here on sunday and then monday it's breezy, pleasant with temperatures of 76 and then quickly warming with sunshine on tuesday at 82 degrees and we're looking at another very warm dry stretch as we get into the rest of next week. we'll have that seven day coming up in the next half hour. >> sounds good. adam thank you. we want to return to the scene of our breaking news

this afternoon in the city of chester where a police officer was struck in a hit and run crash. >> our jeff is on the scene where this happened. jeff, bring us the latest hey, brian and sharrie. we are learning that the officer is okay. he has some bumps and bruises but is at the hospital is that conscious and is talking to dock course. that's the most important thing. if you look behind me you can see where this all played out. it happened just before 3 o'clock. now, we aren't sure the details of how this happened but what we do know is a car hit the officer who was riding this motorcycle and that car took off. now, police tell us they are looking for a burgundy car, possibly a grand prix pontiac grand prix. now, here is the part that should be easy for the public to spot. this burgundy car has a green trunk and hood. we're told it might be a late 90's, early 2000's pontiac grand prix with a green trunk and a green hood.

>> the lamp hest wildfire burning in california is threatening more homes in fresno county today. police ordered another round of evacuations there. they also cleared visitors and staff from king's canyon national park. crews are trying to keep the flames from sweeping through an ancient grove of giant sequoia trees in that park. investigators determined that lightning sparked that fire back in july. it has charred more than one 70's square miles. police in east oak lane need your help today finding two suspects who robbed a man at gun point then forced him to a store and back to his house. it happened wednesday night just before 7 o'clock. police gave us this surveillance video from inside a store at fifth and oak lane. they say the suspect had already pulled the gun on the victim and robbed him. then inside the store they made him withdraw $120. after that, they went to his

house, took a tablet and a laptop, then stole his bicycles and rode away. police are asking anyone who might recognize the suspects to please call them. >> to if this news now, a look at the day's closing numbers and all of the arrows pointing north. all green arrows here. the dow closing up more than a hundred points, its nasdaq up more than 26 and the s & p 500 up nearly nine points closing out a good day this friday. veterans of all ages had a chance to network with more than 30 area employers at the coatesville va medical center today. they attended the welcome home veterans job fair. va officials were also there to make sure that veterans understood the benefits that they've earned through their service. organizers say they chose to hold the fair today to honor the lives lost on september 11th 2001 by helping those who fought for our freedom. well, the back to school celebrations are still under way this week as some downingtown students got things started on a fun note.

>> ♪ >> it is 4:30 and "action news" continues with breaking news out of chester today. right now police are searching for the driver who hit a chester police officer's motorcycle, then kept on driving. it happened at the intersection of morton and fourth streets just before 3 o'clock this afternoon. the officer was rushed to chester crozerer is hospital. officials say he is conscious, alert and talking with doctors right now. pretty much just bumps and bruises. now police are looking for a black male driving a late 90's to early 2000's burgundy pontiac. we're told it has a green trunk and possibly the hood is green as well. if you spot the driver or that car, please call chester police immediately. of course we're following this story and all of the breaking

news surrounding it. we'll get you the very latest as soon as we get it. >> in other news, two weeks from today the city of philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs will be on the precipice of the papal visit and as of right now we are just 14 days and 16 hours away from pope francis' arrival. though much of the talk has been centered around center city the holy father will actually be staying in montgomery county. and that requires just as much preparation and planning. "action news" reporter vernon odom is live in wynnewood with an update on the county's strategy. vern. >> reporter: good evening, sharrie. montgomery county officials today declared themselves ready to not only to protect pope francis but their entire montgomery county population as well. it's only a matter of fine tuning now. >> we're very grateful to the first responders for the work that they've done to put this together and ensure the safety and well being of the people of montgomery county. >> reporter: emergency first

responders from 50 municipalities in montgomery county attended today's summit to hear the county lay out the elaborate game plan for security during the papal visit. the primary focus is on the saint charles seminary, the pope's headquarters and home during his whirlwind and one night stay. security around the massive acreage will be massive. police swat teams and all local police lands on deck and it even more. >> we'll be such policemenned by the pennsylvania national guard in an excess of 200 national guardsmen on both days. >> reporter: lankenau hospital is ready for any possible emergencies. the law enforcement community is preparing for all sorts of possibilities. >> we will have trained bomb technicians from our unit, the atf and pennsylvania state police. >> reporter: there will be emergency medical teams in many locations with various operation centers disbursed all over montgomery county's 480,000 square miles. only four septa stations in montgomery county will be operational on the pope weekend.

radio communication from that michigan-based pilot for the final two hours of the flight. they say the mooney m20 single engine aircraft flew past atlantic city international airport at 20,000 feet yesterday, then rapidly descended at a pace of nearly 6,000 feet a minute until crashing. the pilot identified as 68-year-old dr. michael moore had more than 40 years of flying experience. a former youth football coach will spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually assaulting several children in north philadelphia. today a judge sentenced leon watson to 114 to 228 years behind bars. prosecutors said he met his victims while coaching for two local teams. a jury convicted watson in january of molesting five young boys along with a 21-year-old mentally disabled adult. >> well, the city of philadelphia held a special commemoration ceremony today

spangled banner employees, police officers and t.s.a. agents observed a moment of silence. the solemn event also included remarks also from mayor michael nutter as well as a number of airport officials. >> touching tribute and quite a voice from that young lady. from our delaware news room today police say they arrested a plan for running a large prescription drug ring out of his house in wilmington. they executed a search warrant on the 300 block of mansion road and this is what they found, nearly 100 oxycodone pills, several fentanyl patches normally used on surgery patients, 83 grams of marijuana and a stash of cash. 52-year-old charles longacre was arrested and charged with selling all those drugs. >> meteorologist adam joseph joining us now i needed my umbrella yesterday big time but today -- >> today, no. but i hope you have it nearby because you may have to break it out again by tomorrow afternoon. but for now as we take a look live at the center city sky6 from our temple university camera, the sunshine is back

out. 81 degrees is the air temperature. the dewpoint lower. so, it's more comfortable at 60 with those north-northwesterly winds at 8 miles an hour. as we head to atlantic city, still a lot of clouds down the shore right now, 76 degrees and humid with a dewpoint in the upper 60's but that northerly wind trying to dry it out even at that -- at the shore and the water temperature still pretty pleasant at 76 degrees. but over the weekend, this is what we're looking at for the possibility of rain anywhere between about quarter of a and inch to as much as an inch and a half in southern areas. it all depends if you get whacked by one of those heavy downpours or thunderstorms tomorrow. they'll be scattered but eventually we're going see some steady rain so another good soaking. we need it but of course not over the weekend. we'll time the rain and what to expect from when it starts to when it finishes coming up in that seven-day forecast. >> adam thanks very much. we've got some developing news out of the middle east today. and a deadly crane collapse at

islam's holiest site. saudia arabian authorities say at least 87 people were killed today when a crane gave way on the grand mosque in the city of mecca. more than 184 others were injured. muslims from around the world have been converging on that city and that mosque in particular for the annual haj. there's no word on what caused that crane to collapse. >> back to the visit of pope francis. a special papal choir will perform for the pope when he comes to philadelphia and the members are singers from across our very own region. here i was thinking you had to go high looking low. all this time i've been doing it wrong. just go low. >> seems so complicated. you looked great doing it alicia. thanks very much. south jersey man got a magical surprise on "good morning america" today. 27-year-old chad juros from egg harbor township spent his free time using magic to cheer up sick kids at a local hospital. well, he had cancer as a child and his dad used magic to help him get through the tough days. but then cancer struck again when his beloved dad died from that disease. so chad's friends decided to give him the kind of smile that he has brought to so many. with a little help from his idol, david copperfield, he got the surprise of a lifetime. the action cam was there as friends and family sat up on the beach outside bally's casino. they laid down on the sand forming a picture of juros and his dad. it didn't stop there. he was also given a trip to las vegas to be david copperfield's

>> ♪ >> yesterday on "action news" at 4:00, we told you about a north carolina police officer who used compassion to talk a suicidal man down from a bridge. well, today we are hearing from that everyday hero. raleigh officer dan hicks was on his way home from work wednesday night when a call came in. a man was hanging over the

side of a bridge preparing to jump. hicks who just happened to be near that bridge did not hesitate for a second. he he rushed to the man's side, introducing himself and saying he knew the man was hurting and he was there to help. well, to hicks' surprise, the man stepped back over the edge he and into his arms. >> i was pulling him in tight and the only thing that i said to him is that you're okay and it's over. >> well, officials say that man is now getting the treatment that he needs. officer hicks says he hopes to meet with him again some day. big talkers now and she doesn't even have kids yet but super model chrissy teigen has already laid down the law with superstar hubby john legend. no hot nannies and to that no attractive drivers or maids. that's what the host of abc's fab life told reporters that i trust john but you never know with these men. no word on whether teigen was

somehow referring to jennifer garner and ben affleck's break allegedly for the nanny. similar story for arnold schwarzenegger. teigen says it doesn't matter was look like. sometimes cabin fever just strikes and men do the do as she says. she also added that her assistant is an attractive woman and joked she needs to keep an eye on her. fab life which starts on monday is going to be a great one because she just comes up with these things. all right. these kids today, they love theirself fees. this is emily mussen and her boyfriend johnny and they pretty much have a selfie for every occasion, getting in the car, getting out of the car, you get it. they're obsessed. well, two of their twitter followers took good notes on theirself fees and replicated them. the problem, they just happened to be mom and dad. mom nancy says, yeah, she had to give it a try, see what the fuss is all about. emily, the daughter t-posted the side by sides on twitter where they were retweeted more than 30,000 times. i don't know what you guys think, mom and dad nailed it.

by the way, emily saying i mean, i guess this is funny. but not like over 30,000 saves funny. >> i think it's really funny. >> i do, too. mother like daughter. >> that's the kind of dad i want to be. >> do it. take notes brian. >> alicia thank you very much. let's get another check on the roads. >> let's head back over to autumn in the traffic center. >> we're having a lot of accidents on our majors today. we had one just clear here on the vine street expressway. this is the westbound lanes heading up to the ben franklin parkway. it was cakey taking out the left lane involving two vehicles. moving over to the big picture, good news on the schuylkill expressway. our accident right at 30th street station that was taking out all lanes earlier is now cleared out of the way so you're making a nice time if you're heading westbound from the vine street expressway out to the blue route. as you can see, if you're heading eastbound down into the city, from the blue route down to the vine taking you about 45 minutes right now to do that commute. and over on 95 here we are at

cottman to that construction zone. see a little bigger travel time there on the southbound lanes. we did have an accident that just cleared at woodhaven, so hopefully we'll see that go down here in a few minutes. and out in chester we have that hit and run investigation going on at fourth and morton avenue. your alternate around that is going to be third or fourth street so keep that in mind. out to the ben franklin bridge we go. you can see a nice long line in those eastbound lanes if you're heading over to new jersey now. all the area bridges are pretty slow, so we'll keep an eye on everything and we'll bring you an update in the 5 o'clock hour. back to you, brian and sharrie. >> all right, autumn, thank you. >> meteorologist adam joseph back with the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast including a little rain this weekend. not our fault. >> not our fault.

really nice friday but things going to go the other direction. >> downhill again. so, kind of like in a transition period right now as that drying out process but yeah we're going get wet. not the whole weekend. >> okay, good. >> kind of a small window of opportunity for rain. as we look at the action cam, we our waterways getting quite a drink yesterday anywhere between an inch to as much as 5-inches of rain in parts of our area. we've needed the rain, it's a good thing we got a couple of inches here and there and we'll add maybe up to another inch or so in a couple locations tomorrow. as we look at double scan live radar around the region, all is quiet at the present time. still south and east of philadelphia dealing with quite a bit of cloud cover at the shore. holding those temperatures into the upper 70's but it's really not a comfortable upper 70's. it's still humid at the shore as we're still trying to work in some of that dry air from the north and west but with the return of some sunshine temperatures have pushed back into the lower 80's from trenton, philadelphia, wilmington all the way up into the lehigh valley and the poconos. sunshine and 75 degrees. as we look at the satellite

and radar, again we are dry at the present time but you can see this area to the west. another cold front and associated low pressure developing in the tennessee valley. this low is going to track just to our north and west and what that will do tomorrow is surge some more humidity our way and a chance for those downpours and there could even be an isolated severe storm in southern parts of new jersey and delaware tomorrow afternoon. but for tonight, patchy clouds, very comfortable. you're heading tout some high school football games, pretty nice and temperatures by tomorrow morning in the upper 50's north and west, 60's down the shore. we'll time the rain. tomorrow morning there will be a decent amount of sunshine to start your saturday but the clouds will quickly increase in the morning and by the early afternoon hours, some of those downpours and thunderstorms start to pop up. it turns a little more steady and heavy during the afternoon and evening hours tomorrow. i see one round of rain moving away and with the cold front low moving by in the evening hours could be another round. so, it's not an entire washout for your saturday afternoon

into saturday night but at times it will get some pretty heavy downpours. looking at about a half inch to an inch in general. again, there could be that isolated severe storm south and east closer to the shore. then on sunday a lot of clouds will linger, limited sunshine and there could be an instability shower during the afternoon. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, 82 tomorrow and on the humid side. stays rather cloudy the second half of the weekend of 77. monday breezy, pleasant, 76 degrees with low humidity. and then we quickly warm with sunshine back to 82 on tuesday and another dry stretch will be setting up and temperatures going well above average again wednesday, thursday and friday, 86 degrees for a high. if we hadn't seen as much rain as we had the last few days, we could be talking 90 again but it doesn't look that hot but again, our september that is well above normal will continue as we get into the new week, guys.

she sounds hideous. well, she's a guy so... another reason more people stay with state farm. get to a better state. >> ♪ >> "action news." delaware valley's leading news program. with jaime apody, meteorologist cecily tynan, rick williams and monica malpass. >> ♪ >> good evening. we begin with breaking news out of chester where a police officer was struck by a vehicle and the driver kept going. happened just before 3:00 this afternoon when the officer was riding on his motorcycle and was struck at an intersection.

the search for the driver continues at this hour and officials have a description of the vehicle they are looking for. >> that's right. let's get the very latest from "action news" reporter jeff chirico live from the scene in chester. >> reporter: let's show the you the scene. you can see where this motorcycle ended up after it was hit by another car. police still on the scene here investigating just exactly how this crash happened. the good news, however, is the officer is going to be okay. he he just has some bumps and bruises but is talking to doctors. now, chopper six was over the scene shortly after the accident as rescue crews responded. they found the officer on his back. now, police tell me a driver of a burgundy pontiac tried to pass another vehicle to turn left from east fourth onto morton avenue. he apparently hit, clipped the motorcycle that was going the other way, knocking the officer off that motorcycle, then continued hitting another car.
