[laughter]. >> reporter: you would have picked any weekend all summer long and you would have been fine. this weekend we have rain on the way. i finally get what you were saying. that flew right over my head. there we go, looking live in atlantic city you can see the clouds quickly on the increase. it's a little sticky out there this morning as well as the dewpoints have come up. let's go over to double scan live. there's the batch of moisture on the way stretching from richmond and washington, d.c. and baltimore. you can see the reds and purples showing up. we're getting numerous cloud to ground lightning strikes. it is racing off to the north ran east, it will get in here in time for the afternoon. probably after lunch. for today, lots of clouds, hit or miss showers or

thunderstorms. most of the heaviest stuff will be confined to south jersey and delaware. north and west there's a chance of a thunderstorm there, as well. 80 degrees is the forecasted high. you'll feel swut uncomfortable. -- somewhat uncomfortable. the humidity levels drop off next week and so do the chance of showers. we have a nice stretch of weather on the way in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast i'll have the details in just a little bit. >> thanks, chris. breaking news, authorities have given the all clear after a suspicious package was spotted outside the main entrance of episcopal hospital in kensington. officials say they found a package on the 100 block of east lehigh avenue. police cleared the area and called the bomb squad. nothing suspicious was found. we're running information about a suspicious device that led to evacuations near another hospital in center city. security officers from jefferson hospital noticed the device at

the intersection of 11th and locust before 11:00 p.m. police and the bomb squad responded they blocked off a three block area and evacuated several businesses. authorities say the device was an older model pressure cooker but nothing explosive along with it. police and the feds are trying to determine if it was left there intentionally or by accident. we have an update on a tractor-trailer crash in south jersey that's causing traffic troubles on i-295. the tractor-trailer overturned early this morning. one lane is getting by at this hour. two lanes remained closed while state police conduct the investigation. the big rig has been removed from the scene, but a backup remains. the driver of the tractor-trailer is okay. also new, philadelphia police say an argument between two women ended with one of them being stabbed multiple times. it happened around 2:30 inside a

home on the 2300 block of north 20th street in north philadelphia. police say the two women began to argue when one pulled out a knife and started stabbing the other one. the 38-year-old victim was stabbed in the face and shoulder and back. she is in serious condition at temple hospital. police have a description of the and working to track her -- of the suspect and working to track her down. the search continues for a person who hit a chester comand took off. police say the other driver made an illegal turn. jeff chirico has more on the manhunt. >> reporter: chopper 6 over the scene at east 4th and morton as rescue crews respond to a call of an injured chester police officer before 3:00. police say the officer was riding his motorcycle when the driver of a consider made an illegal left turn clipped him and fell off. hoffman fell off and the bike kept going hitting the suv.

police commissioner said the hit-and-run driver knew what he or she did. >> you can't miss this. when the bike goes down and goes 30, 40 feet and the officer goes down, you have to know what's happening. >> reporter: police shut down the intersection for two hours as detectives investigated. the bike was later towed away. meanwhile, police are asking the public's help in finding the suspect. witnesses described the car as a late model pontiac grand prix with a green hood trunk or bumper. chester mayor is pleading for the driver to turn themselves in. >> they have a chance, turn themselves in and make it easier on everybody, especially them if they do the responsible think. our police officer is on out there putting their lives on the line everyday this is a perfect example of what they have to face when they are out there. >> reporter: officer was banged up in the crash and has scrapes and bumps and bruises and expected to make a full

recovery. he spent the night at crozer-chester medical center for observation. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> turning to politics, former texas governor rick perry is ending his bid for the white house. perry was strapped for cash and struggling in the polls. a group of super pacs kept him afloat by raising $17 million. he ran four years ago that campaign ended after disappointed finishes in the primary. the justice department said hillary clinton had the right to delete personal e-mails during secretary of state. the presidential candidate admitted using a private e-mail server conducting government business was a mistakes. as far as the deleted messages, the justice department said they were not subject to the public records law. across the county and here in our area, people paused to

heavy thunderstorms from baltimore south and washington, d.c. and richmond. all that activity of is pushing northeastward it will head head into our neck of the woods in the next few hours. numbers wise we're doing okay, this feels good, but the humidity has gone up. allentown, 67. poconos 65. millville, 72. cape may, 75. clouds are on the increase. we actually started out with a little bit of sunshine first thing this morning now the clouds are beginning to lower and thicken underneath the clouds we're seeing a heavy batch of showers and thunderstorms from washington, d.c. to richmond. we're not seeing anything severe but this is on the stronger side gusts up to 40 miles per hour. a ton of lightning strikes with one cluster alone. i'll step out real quick. you see this circle right here. if we see severe weather that's the area that will see it, interior sections of south jersey and the jersey shore and central and southern portions of

delaware. dynamically speaking that's where most of the energy with the system would be. north and west more than likely you'll pick up a hit or miss shower or thunderstorm. nothing on the severe side. into south jersey things could get interesting later on. once the system pulls away you can see the counter clockwise spin across the great lake or the high plains. that's a trough or pocket of cold air below average temperatures. all this swinging north and east and make its way into the delaware valley tomorrow and into monday. we have frost for minnesota, u-p of michigan. temperatures are down into the 30s right now. it's a very dry air mass that's heading this way. dewpoints, look at this, it's going to drop like a rock coming into monday. sticky monday, tuesday and wednesday the numbers will climb, air temperatures wise, the humidity is nice and low.

injuring 200 others. the crane smashed into mecca's grand mosque yesterday ahead of the start of the annual pilgrimage. officials say high winds are to blame. they say the winds brought down trees and signs. another wildfire is racing out of the control in northern california destroying homes and sparking evacuation orders. a state of emergency is declared in a half dozen communities about 60 miles southeast of sacramento. the butte fire exploded charring 100 square miles and 60,000 acres in two days. the fire 10% contained has destroyed 6 homes and threatening thousands more. hundreds have fled towns. ful the town of san andreas is nearby and residents are preparing to leave. we were talking about this earlier, people have been warned to be ready to go at a moment's

dewpoints in the mid 60s this afternoon even though our high temperatures will top out in the upper 70s low 80s when the humidity levels are that high it feels uncomfortable regardless of what the temperatures are doing. satellite and ray-- radar it's a small area of low pressure that will race on by during the afternoon hours. that will trigger the showers and thunderstorms later on. we'll zoom into the areas again you can see the heavier storms northeast of the richmond. we're seeing a ton of lightning strikes. good news we're picking up the heavy reigns and gusty winds we're not seeing anything severe and no flooding. good news they need the rain as well. it will push off to the northeast in the next several hours. looking at the surface maps there's the low that will ride up the eastern seaboard today. it will plant over new england tomorrow. the problem is notice how close it is to the philadelphia area by tomorrow. that means we'll have clouds thrown back into the area.
