under fire once again, this time for failing to speak up. >> this as carly fiorina enjoys a bump in popularity from the debate. watched by 23 million people. trump is accused of letting a supporter's anti-muslim comment go unchecked. bazi kanani is in washington and we say good morning, bazi. >> reporter: good morning, kendis, good morning, reena. both trump and fiorina are defending their actions this morning and say it is the mainstream media that is getting it wrong. donald trump facing a new controversy about rhetoric on the campaign trail but this time it's about what he did not say. >> we have a problem in this country, it's called muslims. we know our current president is one. you know he's not even an american, birth certificate -- >> reporter: trump criticized for not denouncing the man who called muslims a problem in the u.s. and falsely called president obama a muslim and n noncitizen.

the republican front-runner claims he was the winner of the second gop primary debate. watched by nearly 23 million people. but most analysts believe the blue ribbon goes to carly fiorina, the former tech exec is also facing questions about a key moment in the debate when she made an emotional appeal against abortion by describing graphic scenes in videos allegedly recorded at planned parenthood. >> analysts who watched all 12 plus hours say the scene you describe actually isn't in those tapes. did you misspeak? >> no, i didn't misspeak and i don't know who you're speaking about in terms of watching the tapes but i have seen those images. >> reporter: planned parenthood calls fiorina's claims a flat out lie saying we think she's referring to a video where a woman who never worked for planned parenthood makes totally unsubstantiated claims about what she saw at health centers. democratic front-runner hillary clinton is responding by

defending planned parenthood for the work it does to provide health care to millions of women in need. reena, kendis. >> bazi kanani live in washington, bazi, thank you so much. and hillary clinton also campaigning in new hampshire and she didn't waste any time pouncing on trump. >> yeah, clinton fired off this tweet last night saying, quoting here, donald not denouncing false statements about the president and hateful rhetoric about muslims is disturbing and just plain wrong. cut it out. testimony resumes at a hearing to determine if sergeant bowe bergdahl should face a court-martial. his commanders in afghanistan testified yesterday about the hardships their men faced during their search for bergdahl. he spent five years as a taliban captive before being freed in a prisoner exchange last year. he's charged with deserting his unit and other counts. it's unclear if he will testify today. a major security breach at a regional airport in texas. a waco airport spokesman said an obviously impaired man drove through a gate and tried to

steal an executive jet and tried to remove tire barriers from the aircraft. an officer spotted him and used a stun gun on him several times. the man has a history of mental illness, they say. and this scene at an airport in the phoenix area, the front landing gear of a 19700 model plane failing so the 63-year-old pilot landing the plane without it. the plane skidded along the runway as a small fire broke out. emergency crews were able to put out the fire quickly. the pilot was not injured. well, now to chile where one resident says his citylooks lying a war zone following wednesday's deadly earthquake, evidence of the tsunami waves that came ashore is very clear. many boats washed well inland. the 8.3 magnitude quake is blamed for at least a dozen deaths. chile is planning for major earthquakes is credited for keeping that low and for allowing more than 1 million people to evacuate coastal areas quickly. croatia finds itself at the center of the refugee crisis.

migrants from the middle east and africa have fought croatian authorities as they try to make their way to western europe. thousands have entered croatia in the last few days creating chaotic scenes and authorities are threatening to follow hungary's lead by closing the borders. frantic preparations under way in washington, d.c., new york and philadelphia ahead of the papal visit but the pope has already delivered a message to cuba where he visits first. in the video he thanked cubans for praying ahead of his visit. he arrives in havana tomorrow and will hold a mass on sunday at the plaza of the revolution. he arrives in washington, d.c. on tuesday. a friend of the accused charleston church shooter has been arrested by the fbi. authorities have been investigating joey meeks since the june shooting for allegedly knowing about the attack and not informing them about it. dylann roof who is white is charged with killing nine black people after bible study.

travelers after american airlines was forced to ground flights due to a computer program. they halted flights at dallas, chicago and miami, three of its largest hubs. flights resumed after two hours. american is still investigating the problem. two weeks ago united airlines also grounded flights over a computer issue. china's biggest trainmaker is joining forces with a u.s. company linking las vegas and los angeles. a trip that normally takes about four hours by car. but just an hour and 20 minutes on the bullet train. construction could begin as soon as next september but the project's expected cost or completion date is right now unphone. the federal reserve isn't raising interest rates, at least not for now. the central bank thinks the u.s. economy is still too fragile citing the weak global economy and low inflation as well as unstable financial markets. the federal funds rate has been near zero for nearly a decade now and the fed still expects to raise rates before this year is

for this close encounter off the southern california coast. take a look. a kayaker coming face-to-face with a hammerhead shark. it looked like it was attacking boat but it was going after the man's catch, fish tied to the side of the kayak. once the food was removed, the shark swam away and no one was injured. quite a shark tale there. we know that bears can climb trees, but what about buildings? this bear was spotted in gat lensburg, tennessee, saying a condo complex and made it all the way up to a third floor balcony then stopped on the second floor. the bear may have smelled garbage on one of the balconies, they believe. that is impressive. >> bears are pretty smart and will get to the food. >> no matter how high it is. well now some sports. a big weekend in college football, right? i'm ready for this. four games match teams in the top 25. >> speaking of football what a game last night and what an ending in the nfl.
