good afternoon i'm rick williams, along with monica malpass we are live for the first time in our special parkway studio, we'll bring you all the action during the papal visit this weekend, as we just saw pope francis is continuing his three city tour with the 9/11 memorial in manhattan right now and he just met with 9/11 victim as long with first responders, they met at the pools at the memorial. afterward the pope went below ground to the museum for an inter faith service, that is where he is right now. >> earlier today the pope addressed the united nations and sara bloomquist has more on his message, she joins us live from new york city. >> reporter: rick and monica, the pope's full day here in

manhattan is a busy one with a jam packed schedule, he is at the 9/11 memorial and museum sure to be a moving visit for the pontiff. earlier today he addressed the united nations general assembly, he warned the nearly 200 members in attendance on climate change and the impact on humanity. >> he became the fourth pope to address the general assembly, he stood before the largest gathering of world leaders. he warned that this harms all humanity. >> and develop if the people -- is favorable. any harm done to the environment

therefore is harm to humanity. >> he talked about the dangers of drug trade and human trafficking and warning of the detrimental effects of war. >> ethics and law based on the thrash of mutual destruction and possible destruction and possibility of all mankind are self contradictory and representing a front to the entire framework of the united nations, which would end up as a nation's united by fear and distrust. >> reporter: this was a call to protect the planet and all of those who live on it. again, the pope now at the 9/11 memorial and museum where he is taking part in an inter faith service there. and then the pope will take an

how close we'll be to pope francis and all the celebrities here for the big concert tomorrow night and the papal mass on sunday and live nation very busy putting the finishing touches settling up for one of their biggest events, and they were busy as we are here all morning setting up, 10,000 seats for lucky ticket holders that will have a front row seat, featuring aretha franklin, they are busy with the details how to train ushers to get everybody to their seats and building the stage and doing some sound checks. >> a lot of stuff is on stage there, any last minute things trumps everything else. >> how does this compare to everything have you done with live nation? >> this is the biggest thing i've ever done, i have done shows in atlantic city and the

you would like to watch it at 6abc.com. the strictest security measures yet are in place for philadelphia residents and visitors, more barriers and fences went up and the perimeters are in effect now from the parkway to city hall, east to 12 and street and cars are off limits within the black shaded area you see there. people that want to cross into the red zone but pass through check points and metal detectors and marked in yellow is only for medical equipment. >> there was not a lot of vehicle traffic in center city this morning but folks had to go through security to get to work and folks had mixed feelings. >> going around just to find a way to work. >> if i don't get to work i'll get fired and it took 20 minutes to get through every check point. >> it's a less direct route but

not too bad. >> we walked literally all around city hall to get around. >> it's a giant maze. >> this morning mayor nutter was out and encouraged folks to look at maps before they come down and there are plenty of police officers and volunteers that can help out. he stopped to talk to one young man there, see first degree they were having trouble figuring out how to get around. >> lets switch live to sky 6 hd, as we look at independence mall from our special camera, the pope will deliver a speech on immigration here tomorrow and with many of his big events outside all eyes are on the weekend forecast. lets check in with meteorologist, david murphy, back at our studios with the latest. >> reporter: hey rick and monkarks i like your mark way studio there. >> thank you. >> exciting, hopefully we don't see a lot of this, we have rain to the south, area of low pressure that is trolling all of this is in the neighborhood is of charlotte but the front that

extends to the ocean is the problem, right now making it all the way up to washington, d.c., so far so good, because we have an area of high pressure to the north blocking the advance of that, the problem is that the high is shifting farther out to the east and there is a chance that this rain makes it all the way up to philadelphia by sometime sunday, not a sure thing, but a possibility. as we take a look at the big event then on saturday, this would be the pope's speech at independence mall, 72 at noon and 73 at 2:00, it looks good on the ben franklin parkway second quarter sunny breaks and breezy and temperatures in the 70s to 6:00 and it gets cooler at night. sunday arrives and the system is getting closer and some models stop the rain near washington but some want to bring it all the way to philadelphia with light rain in the afternoon. i'll talk about the chances of the rain getting here on sunday

we are following developing news from the nation's capital now where house speaker john boehner resigns from congress at the end of october. it comes one day after this historic visit of pope francis at capitol hill, he is under pressure from members of his own party for government funding and some mounted a challenge trying to unseat him from his leadership pope and nancy pelosi talked about the announcements. >> a stark indication of the disarray of the house republicans, their obsession with shutting down government at the expense of women's health. >> well, u.s. representative kevin mccarthy is the leading house republican and the second time this week, the white house south lawn was the scene of a

grand welcoming ceremony, this time is was for the chinese president. the two leaders are expected to make a statement on climate change, one of few things they do agree on but they will also discuss the controversial issues of cyber spying and territorial disputes in the asian pacific. and then a black tie dinner caps off this visit. they want a special prosecutor in philadelphia to investigate the shooting of a man in a wheelchair. four officers shot and killed jeremy mcdole on wednesday, they say they fired when mcdole tried to pull a gun from his waist band. the attorney general is also investigating the killing. the ntsb is in seattle, washington today investigating the crash of a duck boat and charter bus.

meteorologist, david murphy, has another check of the accuweather forecast. first weekend of fall. >> beautiful out there today and you guys are really enjoying it out there on the deck in center city. right now as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan

there is no rain in sight, and it looks like there won't be until sunday and even that is up in the air. we'll look at temperatures in a second and can you see how the numbers are improving and we are up in the 70s, philadelphia 75 and the dew point dropped since this morning and it doesn't feel humid and winds from the east at 13 miles per hour. and temperatures 72 in allentown and 71 in trenton and 73 in cape may, new jersey. there is cloud cover around and not as bad as it looks here, most of this is high and thin as you see from the center city camera, sunshine is shining through the clouds and encountering dry air and unable to make a push north yet, lehigh valley, partly sunny and warm, 77 degrees and these numbers for high temperatures are running 2 to 3 degrees below yesterday and similar, partly sunny and

pleasant at the shore and a high of 74 at the boards, philadelphia a high of 79 degrees partly sunny and breezy with winds averaging 15 to 25 miles per hour. sunday is the real issue day. saturday looks fine, it will be somewhere in the mid-70s with a mix of clouds and some sun but sunday is the day we do battle between this area of high pressure that is trying to depart the area but close enough to push drier air in place, cloudy and breezy but we stay dry, there is a 60% chance of that, we are playing with a 40% chance of this area of low pressure defeating the high and coming close enough to get rain. most models have it light, one model shows heavy rain but i don't buy that. having said all that, the future

tracker 6 model, the rpm does not show that, just some showers and sprinkles south of philadelphia, the late effort model run from the north american model, that did have rain this morning is down to 0, a decent chance we stay dry. but with the model disagreement we can't guarantee it. partly sunny and 79 and sunny breaks and clouds and 75 and saturday is a nice day and all clouds on sunday a high of 73 and the possible of rain, mainly light in the afternoon and hopefully it stays in the south, monday mostly cloudy and 77 and back to summer time and low 80s on tuesday, and wednesday clouds and sun and 79 and it looks as though there may be a shower around on wednesday morning but it's clouds and sun otherwise, 79 looking good for the union
