wanted for torching a center city construction site. but the big story on "action news" tonight is hurricane joaquin, it is currently bearing down on the bahamas and we are tracking this storm closely because it has the potential of having a major impact on us come sunday and monday. lets get the latest information from cecily tynan. >> joaquin has strengthened dramatically in the last 24 hours. >> was a tropical storm and now a category one hurricane with sustained winds of 85 miles per hour. there is good symmetry and an eye wall form, what is going on is there is warm water there and a lot of moisture available so the atmosphere conditions are favorable for this to ramp up to a category three hurricane by tomorrow, that is a major hurricane, now there is still a

lot of question on where joaquin will head. look at the spaghetti plots and they are all over the place, a 750 mile spread, the european ch is typically the most reliable show its heading out to sea, but there is pretty good consensus, most models have it heading inland over the outer banks, and that is in the sunday to monday time time, before then we deal with tropical moisture, we have the stalled frontal boundary and what that will do is retro grade and move to the west during the day tomorrow. we have two key times to watch as far as heavy rain, thursday night through saturday morning, we look at 1 to 3 inches of rain and sunday into monday is when we feel the effects, i'll talk about it in detail in the full accuweather forecast. >> the waves are already churning in the ocean off atlantic city, this image from

sky 6, we have systems in the area, even before joaquin becoming a potential problem, david henry is at the shore. >> people along the shore here are mostly waiting and watching and for many there is no hesitating, the steel gray churning surf out there is a reminder of how angry the ocean can get in a hurricane. >> we don't want no hurricanes, we are sick of hurricanes. >> it's three years since hurricane sandy ravaged the jersey shore, that is why people are keeping a close eye on joaquin. they already have rain pounding the coast, they don't need a hurricane on top of this. joaquin's timing could not be worse promising bad weather for the weekend and the boat show opens tomorrow. >> we get barrage of phone calls

authorities say that three men stormed in and tied up a 52-year-old man and the man's 51-year-old wife, alice told her that she and her 10-year-old grands grandson, ryan hid on the second floor they pretended to be asleep, this as thieves ransacked the house sfwli heard commotion in the living room and did not get out of my room and told my grandson to stay under the covers. >> he had a blue shirt and light blue jeans. >> the suspect stole $200, a large tv and car keys and kids sneakers. fortunately nobody was hurt. now they are trying to figure out why the homeowners were targets. opening statements are underway in the trial of the lead contractor. griffin campbell is charged with six counts of third degree murder for the collapse at 22 and and market street in 2013,

six people were killed and 13 others were injured. defense says that campbell is a small time contractor used as a pawn by the developer and architect that hired him. some people are victims of a debit card breach at a credit union in philadelphia. sara bloomquist is live now. >> reporter: we don't know exactly how many credit union members had their credit cards compromised they said it was a small number less than 1% in fact. we talked to a member that was in that 1% who was shocked to find her account had been drained. >> jacqueline stanley discovered her philadelphia federal credit

card was compromised when she tried to get money out of the atm but it said insufficient funds. >> she went home and logged into her computer and found nothing in there, her account was drained because someone charged nearly $400 to her card in texas. >> i was like oh my god, all of these purchases that go from wal-mart in texas. it completely wiped out the account. >> the credit union issued a statement that reads, over the weekend we were alert that a very small percentage of our members reported an unauthorized use of their cards, this woman was notified over the weekend. >> received a call sunday evening, from their fraud prevention unit and they told me there was an unauthorized charge on my debit card.

>> and today stanley when to her branch to get a new card and was stunned when an employee told her that people saw unauthorized charges last week. >> i said could you have called somebody and she said there were too many customers to call. so she called "action news," in case there are people that don't know about the breach. >> maybe some of this could have been avoided. >> now she is still waiting for her funds to be restored. it's still unclear how exactly this happened. the credit union says it is working closely with the fbi on the matter. live in east mown airy, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. from our delaware newsroom, phyllis mcdole, the mother of a wheelchair dependant man shot and killed by police last week,

typically the most reliable model, but most say no, that will capture joakim and pull it inland, the blocking high pressure will not let it escape that will bring it to the eastern seaboard, this is the lightest from the national hurricane center, maximum sustained winds 85 miles per hour and it's north-northeast of the bahamas, look at what happens over the next day, we are looking at this storm just blowing up, friday afternoon, a category three hurricane, that is a major hurricane, then rolling up the eastern seaboard, weakening slightly before moving inland and the latest track puts it over the outer banks however you have to look at this cone of uncertainty from southern carolinas to long island, future tracker is showing us we are
