tonight as flames attacked a warehouse on cobbs creek parkway. it is wednesday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is a three-alarm fire in southwest philadelphia. and this is now a live picture from chopper 6. the blaze has just been declared under control. firefighters have finished the job of extinguishing this fire. let's go live to the scene and "action news" reporter annie mccormick. annie, what's the situation right now? >> jim, getting this fire under control as quick as possible as they did, no easy feat. look behind me, they are still on the ground and also in the air. pouring water on the roof, that's where the bulk of the fire was. lock at this video from the air that was shot earlier. you can see where the bulk of the flames were. heavy fire is what the crews arrived to. the aerial view also gives you an idea of how heavy of a response this is. you can see multiple ladder and

hose trucks, and dozens of firefighters on the ground. there are a myriad of houses on the ground and a light from the air and it helped to guide the crews as they focused attention on the roof working to douse the flames from multiple angles from up above. more that an hour ago the fire struck a third alarm, and moments ago it was declared under control. the fire broke out just after 8:30 tonight at 70th street and cobbs creek parkway. residents nearby report seeing partial collapse and say the fire was taking over the abandoned warehouse. >> at one point you could smell the chemicals and everything. >> really? >> it smelled like bad chemicals. >> what did it smell like? >> like paint. somebody said there was an old paint store there, wood and all that. crazy, sitting here watching everything go up in flames. >> and back out live you can still see the crews remain out here.

this is an abandon warehouse. we are told by firefighters it was abandoned for some time. no injuries reported. but we know from the past that is a very dangerous situation. firefighters are entering, there is always a danger of collapse from the building. now there are also concerns for some residents in the area. there are a number of homes that do line up here along this abandoned warehouse. we are told no evacuations are needed. however a short time residents were asked to stay back and stay in their homes. for now the fire is under control. for now live in southwest philadelphia, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> thank you, annie. two 15 year olds in critical condition following this t-bone collision in northeast philadelphia. their 17-year-old friend treated and released. the broad-side crash between their car and a pick up happened just after 4:00. police and investigators have not said what caused the crash. a worker at a daycare center

spring lake. and the philadelphia police say the murder of 22-year-old kiesha jenkins does not appear to be a hate crime, but rather a targeted robbery. jenkins was jumped right after getting out of a car at 13th and wingohocking in logan yesterday morning. beaten and shot twice in the ba back. sources say jenkins was known as a high-earning prostitute. and they are asking for tips to catch the five or six suspects involved in the deadly robbery. sources telling "action news" that charges are likely against not only the student involved in today's lockdown at martin luther king high school, but also three other students. police initially received a tip that the student was intended to bring a stolen gun to school today. the boy was actually not there, but was located at the fern rock transportation center where he was taken into custody. authorities eventually found the firearm in the possession of one

of the three other students. the alleged gun scare prompting the lock down at philadelphia community college yesterday not leading to any charges. the 17-year-old who was taken into police consult was now been released. no gun was ever found. today the college president announced changes to the school's security procedures requiring all students to electronically skype -- swipe i.d.s to enter a building. and under arrest for refusing the magistrate's order. in contempt for not turning over hard drives from his home during the investigation. and they deemed his alleged refusal as conducts unbecoming an officer and today he was suspended within tend to dismiss. and an investigation to piece together how these two littles boys ended up walking a

half mile home from school on monday. it happened monday afternoon. 4-year-old tevin whitehead and his 3-year-old brother, tabron, left a pre-k program and ventured through the busy streets of germantown to their home. it appears the boys accidentally left with a group going to a boys and girls club. employees there took the two back to worcester instead to their home. they used the knowledge of the neighborhood and of traffic lights to get home safely. in north philadelphia, they came to r to honor and remember a hero police officer today.
