who tells us that the youngster's parents are not married but only live several blocks apart sharing custody of the three-year-old. she went on to tell us that last night the little boy was staying with his dad but beyond that, they have no idea what happened. >> it's a shocking. >> reporter: neighbor nancy is talking about the tragic story that started unfolding around 6 o'clock this morning when a family member reported three year old brendan link creato missing. investigators converged on the neighborhood around the 100 block of cooper street. just as neighbors started mobilizing to help with the search it was already too late. >> someone said they called the search off and i was just like good news or bad news and they just shook their heads. >> reporter:. >> reporter: a bit before 9 o'clock this morning less than three hours after authorities were notified, little brendan's body was found by k-9 units in a wooded area off south park drive near the cooper river. neighbors say the situation has cents this quiet community into an emotional tail spin. >> it's a really good town.

his clients was made a scapegoat for the property owners and the architect who allegedly ordered him to demolish the building more quickly but prosecutors say he cut corners to make more money and that he bears sole responsibility for that disaster. >> turning to the forecast now, we've seen a few spotty showers this afternoon but overall it's been a pretty nice day. as we look live outside from sky6 hd and a nice shot of the center city skyline from our temple university cam, accuweather says get ready, we're going to get a change in the temperatures right around the corner. meteorologist cecily tynan joins us outside with the details. i guess back to reality. >> that's exactly right. the past three days we've had temperatures in the 70's, short sleeves fine. tomorrow maybe long sleeves and by the weekend i think you'll want a jacket. right now, though, still pretty comfortable despite a lot of cloud cover, 75 degrees in philadelphia. wilmington 73. trenton 72. millville 74. reading 70 and allentown has now dropped down to

69 degrees. little bit unsettled today. yesterday we had the bright blue skies, wall to wall sunshine. today the clouds have been mixing in with the sun. we did have a few spotty showers and you can see there's a couple showers out to our west that could be swinging through over the next few hours as a cold front moves through. the best chance of any showers will be north of philadelphia and i think for the most part, this front will move through dry. so, the evening planner, partly cloudy skies, a spotty shower north of philadelphia possible. temperatures slow to cool off with the cloud cover. at 7 o'clock, 70. by 8 o'clock, 69. by 9 o'clock, 67. and by 10 o'clock, 65 degrees. so, what this front will do is open the door to more seasonable level temperatures and then the coldest air so far will be arriving over the weekend. it's kind of a gradual process. temperatures in the 70's right now. as we head into tomorrow, thursday and friday, it will be back to reality. seasonably cool with temperatures in the 60's.

make contact with friends every three or four days but now it's been more than two weeks. she has not gone back to her apartment and she has not reached out. >> it drives me crazy, you know. i think all these different scenarios. >> reporter: shane christopher grant is talking about his good friend who has been missing since saturday september 26 the day of the papal concert. she was seen by grant's mom at broad and cherry where there was a security check point for the event. police say the 24-year-old mill suffers from bipolar disorder and needs medications. among grant's fears the vulnerable girl met the wrong person. >> i'm just scared that maybe somebody, you know, got her a drink, you know, who knows, put something in her drink. i just want to make sure she's alive. >> reporter: mill's friends have used social media and posters to get the word out. mill was reported missing by the organization that operates this assisted living facility where she stayed. police stress as an adult she has the right to go wherever she wants. still, they are investigating looking into if mill has been

using her debit card. >> it's something our investigator its take a look at any time a person is reported missing, if there is any type of cell phone or if there is a credit card, debit card. >> reporter: mill has a fondness for wigs which could make it tough for the public to spot her. >> she has short brown hair underneath and she wears wigs because she doesn't like the way her hair looks. >> reporter: one social media post worries grant someone says on the 26th, the day of the concert at broad and west indiana, a group of kids were taunting a young woman pulling at her wig. milne has been missing for 17 days. >> spiritual torture not knowing where she is or if she's okay. >> reporter: she was wearing a long blond wig the day -- the last day anyone saw her. while her hair color changed, shane says one constant or two constants actually her piercing bright blue eyes and trace of a russian accent. she was adopted when she was nine and came to the united states. everyone hopes she's just fine and if that is the case they hope she will reach out and contact police and let them

must declare their intent to state parties. georgia has the earliest deadline and that's october 29th. >> time now to check out the traffic scene for you tuesday night. >> alall right, let's go live to autumn marisa. >> we had accidents all afternoon long on 95. here we are on the schuylkill expressway. the accident we had just cleared. you can see the police and one of the vehicles still there but off to the side and the speeds starting to pick up. this is right at spring garden in the eastbound lanes of the city f you're heading westbound looking nice and clear from the vine street expressway out to the blue route right now. taking a look at the speeds across the region as i mentioned 95 very slow this afternoon. we were down in the single digits. you can see 16 miles per hour there. we had two accidents in the northbound and southbound lanes of cottman, two accidents at in the southbound lanes but that's starting to pick back up. hopefully we'll be moving along a little smoother in the near future. taking a look at the vine street expressway in those eastbound lanes we had a

to go back. >> follow-up tests showed she had dcis, duct tile carcinoma in situ, abnormal cells in the milk ducts it's also called stage zero breast cancer or even precancer. >> cancer there is not invading into the tissue, it's kind of pushing against the margins but not yet reaching that invasive stage. >> dr. markun der meyer a study said radiation maybe even surgery might not be necessary. >> radiation is good at reducing the risk of it coming back in the breast but that it doesn't affect whether the patient lives longer. >> the doctor believes treatment decisions involve more factors such as if genetic tests sipping the cells could become invasive later. what's the woman's race or age. african-american women and

those under 35 were more likely to die from invasive cancer. plus, is she comfortable with watchful waiting versus more aggressive treatment. >> i can't imagine sitting and waiting for that to see if it developed into a tumor. >> we still don't know for sure which patient we can be less aggressive with. >> diane opted for surgery and radiation. but not until she got a second opinion and information from reliable medical resources. >> making an educated decision gave me confidence that i did the right thing. >> the doctor says the question won't be settled until their more studies following thousands of women with low risk cells who don't get radiation. for now, anyone in the situation should talk to their oncologist about their options and also get a second opinion. ali gorman channel6 "action news." >> and a communities fair featured breast cancer detection exams as well today in southwest philadelphia. this one was held at the

health annex on woodland avenue. doctors did breast exams, they also talked to attendees about how to do self checks and there were cooking demonstrations fitness sessions and more. they also heard from a breast cancer survivor. >> a newborn girl is getting a second chance thanks to a seconds medical opinion that proved doctors wrong. abigail jones was initially diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor while she was in her mother's womb. a florida hospital told her parents she wouldn't survive long after she was born so they were already in the process of planning a funeral when something changed. >> she ate and she gained weight and she looked great. she was thriving. she was certainly not in any way shape or form dying. >> a seconds opinion at children's hospital in boston confirmed her family's suspicions. abigail's tumor wasn't even cancerous. she's now on the road to recovery after a successful surgery last week. >> sweet. >> time for accuweather at the "action news" big board. meteorologist cecily tynan here with some get real moments in the weather world coming up this week. >> we have been in fantasy land the past few weeks with temperature in the 70's. today still very warm but we are live on sky6 taking a look at the center city skyline. yesterday we had the sapphire blue skies, the bright sunshine. today we have been dealing with clouds mixing in with the sun and also a few spotty showers. want to show you storm tracker6 live double scan. most of the region is completely rain free but beginning to see a few pop-up light showers here and there. one right now just to the north of fleetwood, another one just to the north of malvern just west of norristown and you can see how they're generally moving to the east, again not a lot of activity and there's also one band of some showers working out of maryland right over the border of new castle and kent county, delaware and this is also generally moving to the east. so, not a lot of activity with this front but what it will do

is start the stepdown with temperatures as we head through the week. right now again very mild, 75 degrees. that's 7 degrees above average for this time of the year. trenton 72, millville 74, cape may a little bit cooler, 69 degrees. allentown with the clouds and a few spotty showers nearby, 69 degrees and reading currently 70 degrees. also, a little bit on the breezy side. winds generally out of the southwest at 10 miles an hour in philadelphia and with that southwesterly wind, that's what's pulling up the mild air but once that cold front moves through, we'll get a wind shift and that is what will bring us more realistic temperatures for this time of the year. so satellite6 along with action radar showing we've been seeing a few rounds of showers on and off through the day. the actual cold front is still out to the west so that will be shifting through as we head through the evening hours. behind it skies partly cloudy, breezy and temperatures a little bit on the cool side. not all that chilly. 56 degrees in philadelphia.

allentown 47. wilmington 52. millville 51. and trenton 52 degrees. now, this really shows the big cooldown we have going. sunday we were 2 degrees above normal. yesterday 8 degrees above normal. today so far 7 degrees above normal. however, look at what will happen on sunday. temperatures for afternoon highs really just plummeting. 12 degrees below normal and overnight lows will be dropping down into the 30's and sunday morning i wouldn't be surprised if some areas in some of our suburbs actually have some patchy frost. this will be a big change in our weather. the five day at 5:00 showing tomorrow mix of sun and clouds, cooler than today but still little bit mild, 69 degrees. on thursday, this is where we should be for this time of the year, mostly sunny with a seasonable high of 67 degrees. on friday, another cold front moves in. this will bring us mostly cloudy skies, possibility of some showers kind of like today, not all day heavy rain,

>> reporter: clinton appeared at a union protest rally outside donald trump's hotel monday ahead of the high stakes national debate. there that will also include jim webb martin o'malley and lincoln chafee. also nearby an extra podium. this photo posted by cnn just in case vice president joe biden who is still undecided gets into the race. but his official schedule has him at the white house all day. >> it's highly unusual for a possible important contender not to be in the first national debate. >> reporter: a new abc news washington post poll shows clinton's favorability rating increasing two points to 47 percent, biden at 45 and sanders 35. it's a much smaller debate field than the republican counterparts. >> landfall shouldn' -- rand pal shouldn't be on this state. we'll likely have more civil atmosphere. >> it will be very different from the republican debate. >> reporter: that's because attacks between the democrats have been minimal more on policy, less perth.

president obama though did weigh in on the clinton e-mail controversy on cbs's "60 minutes." >> she could have handled the original decision better and the disclosures more quickly. >> reporter: and that e-mail scandal will likely come up again tonight on the debate stage along with issues like immigration reform and gun control. and this really is a key moment for the lesser known candidates to try and stand out. reporting live in las vegas, brandy hit, abc news, now back to you. >> brandy thank you for that report. meanwhile several of the republican candidates for president hit the campaign trail today. jeb bush unveiled his plan to repeal and replace president obama's universal healthcare act in new hampshire. he told the crowd in manchester that his plan would propose tax credits to those without employer coverage so they could afford their own plans. mr. bush added that the current plan is quite an egregious example of government overreach. however he doesn't favor doing away with the entire plan.

and senator rand paul took his campaign to iowa today and his supporters from across the country were with him every step of the way. paul became the first presidential candidate candidate to live stream an entire day on the campaign trail. he answered questions posed by voters on facebook while driving to events. among his stops today, the famed field of dreams baseball field and several rallies. >> the dutch safety board's report on the final seconds of downed malaysia flight 17 is giving terrifying looks into what that plane's passengers and crew faced right before they died. officials say fragments from a missile fired at the plane tore off the cockpit instandly killing two pilots and it caused a deafening sound wave that may have caused loss of consciousness among the passengers. now temperatures outside the plane were as low as 58 below zero and officials add a powerful air flow ripped the clothing from the passengers' bodies. all 298 people were killed.

and world news tonight with david muir will have more on the malaysia flight 17 report and the first democrat presidential debate. you can watch both of those following "action news at 6:00. >> the search is on for two men who viciously attacked an elderly man at his front door. the victim had surveillance cameras pointed at his front door on the 800 block of welton street last thursday when the two suspects knocked on his door. you could see that one is hiding a metal object behind his back. as the 70-year-old man old. the door the two men rushed in and at tacked. the victim is in the hospital with several injuries including a cracked skull. still not clear why he was attacked. a 14-year-old boy continues to fight for his life after being shot in north philadelphia last evening. happened along the 1200 block of north tenth street. officers arrived and found the victim with several gun shots to his body. they rushed him to hahnemann hospital where he's in extremely critical condition. so far there are no suspects

in the shooting. in the fern rock section of the city detectives are looking for two masked thieves who targeted a man walking down the street. the victim told police he was going back home after picking up takeout when two men armed with guns forced him into his apartment. the suspects allegedly took a rolex watch from the victim pivot follow whipped and then shot him. the pair then ran off. a woman who was inside the apartment at the time was not hurt. >> the man accused of killing a drexel university student back in july will stand trial for murder. a judge determined there is enough evidence against 56-year-old james harris to move forward. prosecutors say harris beat, raped and strangled 27-year-old jasmine wright in her west philadelphia apartment. harris previously worked as a maintenance man there but was fired before the incident. he allegedly used his set of building keys to get into wright's apartment. from our delaware news room tonight a man remains in critical condition after he was hit by a car in wilmington this morning. this the scene in the 200

block of east front street. now authorities say the car hit the 45-year-old victim as he tried cross the road. he was rushed to the hospital for treatment. the driver did stay at the scene. it's not clear if charges will be filed in the case. also in delaware state police are asking for your hope to find these two people. they are accused of trying to break into saint marks united methodist church in wilmington last month. the pair damaged a church door but they did not get in. if you have any information you're asked to call police. >> $1.4 million worth of marijuana won't make it out on the streets after a big bust in eastern maryland. agents discovered more than 700, six to 8 feet tall marijuana plants growing on an abandoned property in chesterville west of smyrna delaware. the bust was made in august. the details released today. investigators say the property's owners live in delaware but it's not clear if they were the actual growers. >> some new life saving measures being implemented throughout montgomery county tonight to prevent and treat

drug overdoses. there is a new county wide prescription take back program including new drop-off boxes. law enforcement hopes it will cut down on the chances of young people and addicts getting narcotics. a mother who lost her son to an overdose seven years ago today urged the entire community to join police in safely disposing of unwanted pills. >> help get these pills off the streets by emptying our medicine cabinets. if you have grand parents or parents who are elderly go help them go through medications they're not using any more because these teens will go visit you or visit their grandparents or family members and they will get these drugs. >> every police vehicle will also have narcan. it is used to reverse the effects of drug overdoses. >> all right, let's get an update on the highways and by ways now. >> all right, over to autumn marisa in for matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. >> hi, monica and rick. another accident to report to you. this one is on the off ramp from the blue route to the

>> two firefighters died in an apartment fire in kansas city missouri. the two veteran firefighters died last evening when a wall collapsed on ton of them. happened moments after they rescued two people. two other firefighters were injured but are expecting to recover. investigators are still investigating how the fire started. aaron hernandez was in the court today when a judge agreed to delay his double murder trial he's charged with the murder of two men outside of a boston nightclub in 2012. his new trial set for january. hernandez is currently serving a mandatory life sentence for a separate murder that he was convicted of back in april.

delaware valley's leading news program. with ducis rodgers, meteorologist cecily tynan and jim gardner. >> ♪ >> tuesday night and electronic cigarette forces evacuations at a delaware county high school. and a pioneering astronaut encourages philadelphia students to reach for the stars. but the big story on "action news" tonight is the disappearance and then discovery of a three-year-old boy. but when police found him, he was dead. the boy was reported missing from his home on the 100 block of cooper street in haddon township at 6:00 this morning. police found his body three hours later in a wooded area eight blocks away. what happened between 6:00 and 9:00 is still a tragic mystery. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic has the story. >> i've seen him. it's just really sad. it's just sad. >> reporter: neighbors on cooper street grieving remembering three-year-old brendan creato seen here in a

picture poster on facebook. >> he was playing with another little boy next door. i'm sorry. >> reporter: it's okay. >> at only three it's just hard to look at. >> reporter: the toddler was reported missing by a family member at 6 o'clock this morning less than three hours later the horrifying news, his body had been found in a wooded area off south park drive in cooper river park. police will not reveal any details about how the child died. >> we would need to wait for the medical examiner to conduct an autopsy in order to determine a manner of death. >> reporter: are there any obvious signs of injury. >> we're not going to discuss that at this point. >> reporter: a massive search for the child began this morning after area residents received telephone alerts and news of brendan's disappearance exploded on facebook. >> we came out to help and as soon as i got to here to walk they started blocking offer the tape. it was about 9 o'clock they had put the tape up and everybody had their heads down. >> reporter: you realized it was too late. >> someone said they called the search off. >> reporter: the boy's body was located about a half mile from his father's
