october 18. new this morning, delaware officials investigate a suspicious fire that burned three trailer homes and left nearly a dozen people homeless. new, two people are hurt after a car loses control on i-95 in delaware overnight. >> plus, dust over the coats and hats we're waking up to cold temperatures this morning. let's go outside to meteorologist chris sowers for the very latest in accuweather. pretty cold, huh? >> reporter: it's very cold out here this morning, nydia. by far the coldest temperatures so far this season. we have a frost advisory in effect and freeze warning in effect. the coldest is yet to come. if you're someone who does not enjoy cold weather, the next 24 to 48 hours will not be a picnic for you. here's the frost advisory shaded in the purple area. this is in effect until 9:00 a.m. another frost advisory goes into effect along with the freeze warning. this time around it's a hard freeze warning meaning that

sleeping bags to stay warm, as well. >> reporter: stay with "action news".com there you will find storm tracker 6 live radar. >> one person was killed in the shooting at the annual festival known as zombicon late last night. police are looking for a suspect at this hour. zombicon draws 20,000 fans dressed as zombies each year. >> new this morning, from our delaware newsroom, fire officials are looking into what they say a suspicious fire that left nine people homeless. take a look at the blaze that burned three mobile homes in stanton. it took a half-hour to bring the blaze under control. one mobile home was destroyed and two others damaged on indiana avenue. authorities say the fire started outside one of the mobile homes,

no injuries were reported. from our delaware newsroom, state police are investigating a crash on interstate i-95 near newark. police say the driver lost control and ran off the road and crashed into the guardrail. the front end of the car suffered extensive damage, two people inside the car were taken to the hospital for treatment. >> a homeless family is fighting to get their young son back, he was found wandering articled love park in the cold. jeff chirico has the story. >> reporter: you can see their makeshift home under the welcome center, the pieces of cardboard to shield the family from the winds. the parents had no idea their little boy wandered away until they woke up hours later. love park. >> i'm not out here on the

street with my kids on purpose. >> reporter: fighting homelessness, is fighting for son. michael johns who said he is jeremiah's father shows us where he slept behind cardboard walls under the welcome center. >> somehow he crawled past the bed and walked out. >> he ran over to dhs. i said my son ask missing. >> reporter: the couple said they ended up here after not finding room in a shelter. now the boy and his sister are in protective custody. >> i don't come what kind of work i get. >> anybody who knows me and my

husband will vouch we are very good parents and love our kids. >> reporter: the little boy was taken to the hospital and is doing just fine, no charges will be filed. >> scary moments at a walmart parking lot in wilks-berre, a man in broad daylight started shooting. police are trying to determine if a domestic dispute started the whole thing. the wal-mart and other stores went into lock down. 31-year-old was apparently with a woman when he fired a rifle in the store's parking lot hitting several vehicles. >> next thing i heard i heard gunfire i came down and people were hiding behind their vehicles. >> now, police say when officers arrived sergeant started shooting at them, police returned fire hitting him. sergeant is in the hospital, when he is released he will be charged with attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer. nobody else was injured.

police have questioned the woman. >> more than two dozen people need new homes after a safire destroyed several apartments in camden county this weekend. "action news" was on the scene on the 200 block of west france avenue in pine hill. you can see the damage to the roof of the mansion apartments. it took two hours to bring the blaze under control. everybody made it out safely. 25 people have been displaced. the cause is under investigation. the sack meant -- sacramento police department released the sketches of two suspects who stabbed spencer stone who was released after being treated for several stab wounds. he thwarted a terror attack on a train in france. the police think the stabbing outside a sacramento bar had nothing to do with the terror attack. a oregon college student hailed a his or her for

>> in texas firefighters have contained 50% of the wildfire that consumed 4600 acres. officials said yesterday enough progress has been made to allow some residents to return to their neighborhoods. 50 homes and businesses have been destroyed in the wildfire burning near austin. 200 firefighters across the lonestar state has battled blaze, a dc-10 jetliner has dumped retardant to stop the wildfire. >> yesterday we planted 20 mums, i wonder if they will survive. i'll show you what's going on out there, it's a cold morning, temperatures in the 20s and

the only area seeing any kind of weather is the packed northwesterly. there's a rm storm system that heads onshore there. 47. panhandle of 40s in the 40s. pensacola, 49. atlanta, 47. cincinnati, 29. chicago, 34. here's the core of the cold right here. it's actually pushing off to the northeast. what's happening the return flow around that will start to warm things up across the front range first and that slides east during the course of the week. tuesday and wednesday we'll warm up with temperatures back in the 60s and 70s. for today we'll see clouds increase. one or two areas you'll see a brief shower it's called an instabt -- instability shower as the cold air functional in. it's very cold overnight tonight. tomorrow morning it's frosty

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, 7:23 sun morning time for the travel forecast. we'll start you out with satellite and radar. we're crystal clear across the lower 48. you have to go to the northwest to get any moisture. we have rain and snow showers pushing across the great lake states but that poses no threats to any of your traditional plans. none of that is sticking. the big story is obviously the cold. this huge air mass extending into the deep south. what's happening as i put the temperatures on. not only are reseeing the cold, but the snow is covering the ground. this is northern canada, the hudson bay, that's not a good sign because the more snow we see in october that usually means a colder winter. so, again, i'm not saying it's going to be a cold winter, but

police say a man wounded by gunfire this summer has become the victim of a violence a second time. >> trying to dig out, southern california is trying to dig out from the mud as the area is threatened with more rain. >> get out your winter coat this morning. >> chris sowers is outside. it's cold, right, chris? >> reporter: it's brisk and cold temperatures in the 20s and 30s, if your son has a soccer game, this is a morning you take him to the soccer game and watch him from the comfort of your warm car put the seat warmer on again because it's cold. cruel need a heavier coat. 66 degrees is the high temperature for this time of the year. yesterday the chill started to pour on in. 57 degrees that was in the city. some of the outlying suburbs made it up to 54 or 55. does this little guy look

police say this was after the man was shot back in august one block away. no arrests have been made in either shooting. a man in his 30s was shot and killed on the 7 hurn block of green way avenue in southwest philadelphia. police were called to the scene at 8:00 p.m. when they arrived they found the victim on the road with two gunshot wounds in the chest. >> now to the devastating mudslides in california. hundreds of cars and trucks remain encased in the mud after the mud cascaded down a mountainside during a rainstorm. >> cruise are removing the mud and debris to clear roads some of which are under five feet of dense mud. >> reporter: crews clearing mud-blocked roads in southern california are racing against the clock and mother nature. saturday morning, construction equipment arriving to aid in the dig out before another round of weather hits. >> they are expecting more rain, if that happens what we'll

[chanting]. >> the crowds gathered holding signs and pictures of 22-year-old who was killed july 30th philadelphia her home on aramingo avenue. police think this man caught on surveillance video may be the killer. two dozen people gathered to pray near a wooded area near south park drive cooper street in haddon township where the body of 3-year-old brandon creato was found on tuesday. an autopsy was performed, but the cause of death remains a mystery. the woman charged with the murder of her baby boy has had

her first court appearance. the judge ordered her held on 150,000-dollar bail on child neglect and murder charges. her 9 week old son was seen on september 9. last week certain teams found the body of afternoon infant in the wooded area. gaithersb. he -- a transgender woman was shot repeatedly, her friends think she was targeted because she is a transgendered woman. >> i told her, watch the company you keep, everybody not loyal to you. >> so far police have said only that there are a lot of time possible motives in the case. detectives are reviewing

than where you were yesterday at this time which was ten degrees cooler than where you were the day before. so the trend continues to go down, down and down. all these numbers are a good five to ten degrees colder than this time yesterday. satellite and radar, when you have this cold pocket of air aloft like that, the at tries to squeeze out all the moisture it can and it is doing that in the form of snow showers out across western pennsylvania. state college is right there, there's bradford and erie. up across the finger lakes of up state new york, a little bit of winter white flying right now. u-p of michigan, right here, the arrow head of minnesota picked up one inch ever snow. for today, high pressure settling in, the winds will be an issue out of the northwest at ten to 20 miles per hour. high temperatures topping out
