>> the temperatures dropped overnight, let's go outside to chris sowers and see how much we warmed up. >> reporter: just a little bit, but it's better than first thing this morning, although we have the breeze whipping around and it is putting windchills in the 30s and 40s. these are current air temperatures. we're in the 40s in most locations. the poconos still in the 30s. 47 in allentown 48 in reading. trenton, 47. philadelphia and wilmington, 50 degrees. millville, 48, dover, 49. look what happens when you factor in the winds feels like 30s in the mountains. 42 in allentown. 43 in trenton. 43 in millville. and dover, 44. satellite and radar on top of the chill we actually have a lot of the cloud cover rolling in, so temperature-wise we'll climb a degree or two, maybe three at

much. the numbers will plateau later on. high temperatures 52 degrees, partly sunny skies, breezy the rest of the way. excuse me, that 352 will feel like the 40s throughout the afternoon hours. as we look ahead we'll focus on the killing freeze that's on the way tonight about 95% of the area will experience temperatures cold enough to put an end to the growing season. when i see you we'll talk about that and we'll have a nice warmup in the seven seven-day forecast. >> anyone who lives in the area knows full well that october hardly ever feels like august, but this chilly weather is surprising us anyway. the freezing temperatures happened with the 600 scouts camping out in north philadelphia. the youngsters brought along a hand warmer and back in center city someone told us they don't mind the cold. >> i'm from canada, this is not cold. >> the chill did make it tough

for street musicians mike madison to play his vial lynn. during a break he put on gloves to keep his hand warm enough to work the strings. fire ripped through the lulu country on the 1600 block of lime kiln pike in upper dublin township. when firefighters arrived they found flames engulfing the building. dozens of members who showed up for golf were in shock. >> it meant everything, it was my tree house, it is where i came to relax and retire, play cards, eat, play golf. my wife and i are members here. she is a member. >> officials say the rental hall suffered most of the damage. a 911 caller said smoke was coming from the basement.

so far there's no word on a cause. from our delaware newsroom authorities are investigating suspicious fires that burned three mobile homes in stanton, overnight. it broke out at 2:30 on indiana avenue. nobody was had your, but nine people including four children are displaced. police say there were three separate fires set in the mobile home park. chester county detectives are investigating a double homicide two men were shot in an parent drive-by shooting before 7:00 p.m. it happened outside a home in valley township. there's no word on arrests or motive. faa is about to unveil tough regulations on the type of drones that are most popular called hobbyist pilots. some of the vehicles have caused close calls with passenger planes and interfered with

relies on a technology to survive, ventilator feeding tube or dialysis, five of the kids are wheelchair bound, but the stuff who have done this trip before were determined to make this week long trip a reality. >> there are ten children leaving and 35 staff members some are which are ahead of us setting up the rooms. >> reporter: this is the third trip for cheptional care for children after successful visitors in 2011 and 2013. while many donated money to make the trip happen others gave their time including members of law enforcement to accompany the buses to the airport. >> since we can't officially fund them, i thought a police escort would be appropriate for these kids god bless every one of these workers and these kids. >> reporter: and you can follow along on their trip on social media.

occasional gust of 20 miles per hour that's blowing the clouds in. whatever sunshine you're seeing a lot of that will fade quickly within the next hour or so as a small disturbance aloft swings through. it could trigger a brief shower, most of us stay dry, what we'll see is more in the way of clouds if anything at all. the water vapor shows this is where the cool air is as it fills in across the mid atlantic. across the carolinas, they are topping out in the 50s and low 60s. this is a strong little area of high pressure. had this been january or february highs would be topping out in the low to mid 20s. it's going to be chilly out there. future tracker 6 we're clouding up, one or two areas, maybe you see a quick-passing shower. yes, accuweather has allowed for a flurry possible in the poconos

occurrence or cancer deaths. the scientists urged doctors to ask patients about supplement and called for more government regulation of them. breast cancer changes life for women and those around her. for a bethlehem mother it opened the door for talent to share around the world. monica malpass shows how she is beating the odds against breast cancer. >> reporter: susan's shaffer's mother always encouraged her artistic side of her child. >> i took music lessons, but the art was what she helped me with. i did water colors and oil. i was afraid and intimidated by oil. >> although they liked art she put it aside so she wouldn't be a starving artist.

>> i want into law. >> reporter: during 2004 when she was battling breast cancer she came back to art and by then she loved oil paints. >> every time i came down to the studio and paint, it made me happy. it was a thrill when i would paint. >> soon she wanted to share the positive energy she felt and share hope yourself it is her middle name. >> i want to give back to someone else and make them feel happy and make them feel it's okay you're going to get through it. >> reporter: susan started donating paintings to saint luke's hospital where she was treated. from there it has snowballed. she entered the annual national contest. last year, ten years after being declared cancer free, her visions of hope won top prize.

finding room in a shelter. now jeremiah and his 4-year-old sister are in city care. the city will not return the children until the family has a roof over its head. from the new jersey newsroom the search is on for a fire that forced two dozen people from their homes in camden county last evening. at the height of the fire, it tore through the roof of the apartment. three units were damaged or destroyed. a man critically injured in a shooting this summer has been shot to death in the logan section of philadelphia. police are searching for the shooter or shooters in both incidents. the 30-year-old victim was shot twice as he stepped out of the car on north camack street. he died at the hospital. a man was gunned down on
