suspect in a possible case of road rage. the big story on "action news" is the late october warm-up. sky 6 hd showing you the view over penn's landing and the delaware river. it's sunny and unseasonably mild on this wednesday afternoon, meteorologist, david murphy, tracking the temperature swing, he joins us live outside. that sun is doing its work david. >> it is, as is the southwest flow, i insisted on doing this report outside. lots of blue sky and just a little bit of cirrus cloud cover, look at satellite, the closest pronounced cloud cover continues to be in new york state and pittsburgh, there is a little bit of cloud cover and it's high and thin enough and temperatures are doing well and we are up to 68 in philadelphia, 66 in wilmington and 68 in trenton and several spots including allentown reading and millville and the airport in

atlantic city, touching the 70 degree mark and a.c. higher than that. the ocean temperature is running 60 and sea isle city and other sports by the ocean water it's cooler. the winds are not much of an issue, 70 miles per hour in philadelphia and we are waffling back and forth with that. the winds are not doing any at all there. if you are lucky enough to have tee time or if are you headed out to the playground, by 2:00, 72 degrees, 4:00 that is your high, 75 degrees with a southwest wind running 10 to 20 miles per hour overall, not bad. we have not had very rain over the last several months, over the last 81 days we only had seven days of rain with more than a quarter inch. when it rains it seems like it comes down in buckets. when we come back, we'll talk

about two more opportunities for precipitation, but will it get us that .25 inch? that is the question we'll answer with the seven day. investigator as rested one suspect in the robbery of two temple university students. robert cheryl is charged in both crimes, in susquehanna two men pulled a gun on the victim and stole his cadillac, two hours later, police say that the same men robbed a temple student of his debit cards. they identified cheryl as a suspect through tips from the public, and identified another suspect. two police officers and a firefighter was injured as they tried to rescue a man from a burning building, fire investigators are looking for the cause of blaze, it broke out in the strawberry mansion

section of the city last night. katherine scott is talking to neighbors and joins us at the scene. >> reporter: sara four people were injured. a firefighter, a resident and two officers from the 22nd district. none of the injuries are life-threatening we are told but you can see the damage that this fire left behind, neighbors already tried to save the long time resident trapped inside when three officers and then firefighters arrived. >> i kicked the door and started spraying. >> a neighbor on this block had smelled smoke, grabbed the fire extinguisher and rushed to the home on north taylor street before 8:00 p.m., he was trying to get to the man trapped upstairs but the smoke forced the neighbor back out. when he rived outside police officers had arrived. >> there was to males and a female and two males ran up on the step and i was behind the

second one and we went as far as the bottom step, when we got in the door the heater in the middle of the floor was on fire. >> but once again the fire held them back. the lady was in the back and he started to coughing real bad, the one in the front. >> they were trying to get inside there but there was too much smoke. >> family members arrived beside themselveses with worry but firefighters were able to rescue the long time resident and he was taken to the hospital. >> it was a valiant effort on their behalf. because everybody tried to get in and get the gentlemen out. >> i went in there because i thought that was the thing to do. i would want someone to come in and get me. >> back here live you can see the charred belongings and all the damage that remains, i did speak with one of the residents, she says that her husband remains in the hospital this

noon, she doesn't know where she will go, everything she has is in ruins. katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. princeton university is dealing with an outbreak of hand and mouth disease, it's painful mouth sores and a skin rash on the hands and feet, and it's passed through close contact or coughing and sneezing, the source of this outbreak remains unclear. kathleen kane's law license will be suspended at midnight tonight, she is crafting an email to her staff as to should you she will handle her job while she is suspended. she allegedly leaked secret grand jury material, and then lies about it, and she denies any wrong doing. the date is set to choose a

philadelphia home was found safe and sound, police are looking for mitchell, she disappeared monday after leaving her home on south 52nd street, but the student has now been located. suspects captured during an early morning warrant sweep were hauled into court in montgomery county, the sheriff's office brought in defendants wanted on various charges including domestic violence, identity theft and unpaid child support. they were looking for 50 offenders and 17 were arrested today. the popular chinese restaurant, yang ming is back open today after it was closed because of a roach infestation. it was shut down in august after a routine health inspection in july. they found four violations, improper food storage and failure to control rodents and insects. the owners spent $500,000 on a renovation project, new floors

a new york city police officer has died after a gun battle with a suspect, officer randolph holder is the fourth nypd officer to be killed in the last year. the 33-year-old was shot in the head as he chased a man accused of stealing a bicycle last night. the suspect was shot in the leg and captured a few blocks away, and a few others were taken into custody for questioning. police are questioning a man that killed a 4-year-old girl during a suspected road rain case. a child in the backseat was wounded and later died in the

hospital. >> this should have never happened. this is a complete disrespect of human life and we are starting to see this throughout our nation and this should not be happening. >> the girl's parents were in the front seat and police closed the freeway for hours and are unable to find the suspect's vehicle, they are not sure what caused the situation to escalate. the police in the st. louis area are stepping up patrols after church fires. they occurred at churches within five miles of each other. we'll get more on a full report at 12:30. the vatican is denying a rumor about the health of pope francis, they say he has a small but treatable brain tumor, they say it's not true and

irresponsible. the pope carried on with his weekly audience at st. peters square. the man late and ran on to the runway trying to catch his departing flight is sentenced. this shows mark ramer at the denver international airport, he was headed to his high school reunion, he ran through an emergency exit door and chased the plane. he was sentenced to probation and 100 hours of community service. three high schoolers in long island face jail time after allegedly hacking into their high school computers. they say that they changed student's grades and scheduled and that he broke into the school after hours and installed a device known as a key log to a computer, allowing him to collect passwords and logins

much care about things like filing deadlines or debates and primaries and caucuses but i also know that i couldn't do this if the family wasn't ready. the good news is the family has reached that point. my family has suffered loss and i hope that there would come a time and i said this to other families sooner rather than later, when you think of your loved one it brings a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eyes, well that is where the bidens are today. thank god. beau was our inspiration. unfortunately i believe we are out of time, the time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination. but while i will not be a

candidate, i will not be silent. i intend to speak out clearly and forcefully to influence as much as i can where we stand as a party and where we need to go as a nation. and this is what i believe. i believe that president obama has led this nation from crisis to recovery and are now on the cusp of resurgence and i am proud to have played a part in that, this party, our nation, will be making a tragic mistake if we walk away or attempt to undue the obama legacy, the american people have worked too hard and we have come too far for that. democrats should not only defend this record and protect this record, they should run on the record. we have got a lot of work to get

done over the next 15 months and there is a lot that the president will have to get done. but, let me be clear, we'll be building on a really solid foundation. but it all starts with giving the middle class a fighting chance. i know you in the press love to call me middle class joe and in washington that is not usually meant as a compliment and you are not that sophisticated but it is about the middle class, it's not just the matter of fairness or economic growth, it's a matter of social stability for this nation, we cannot sustain the current levels of inequality that exist in this country, i believe the huge sums of unlimited and often secret money pouring into our politics a fundamental threat to our democracy and i really mean that, i think it's a fundmentsal

threat, because the middle class will never have a fighting chance as long as several hundred families, the wealthiest families control the process, it's that simple. i believe we have to level the playing field for the american people and that will take access to education and opportunity to work. we need to commit, we are fighting for 14 years, we need to commit to 16 years of free public education for all of our children, we know that 12 years of public education is not enough, as a nation lets make the same commitment to a college education today that we made to a high school education 100 years ago. children and child care is the one biggest barrier for working families. we need as the president proposed to triple the child care tax credit, that alone will

lead to a dramatic increase for women being able to be in the workforce and raise our economic standards and there are equitable ways to pay for this. how do you pay for this? we can pay for all of this with one simple step, by limiting the deductions in the tax code to 28% of income, wealthy folks end up paying a little more, but it's my guess, they will be happy to help build a stronger economy and better educated america and lead more by the power of example by merely the example of our power, we learned hard lessons from more than a decade of large scale open ended military invasions, we have to accept the fact that we can't solve all the world's problems and can't solve many of them

alone. the argument that we have to do something, when bad people do bad things is not good enough. it's not a good enough reason for american intervention and to put our sons and daughters lives on the line, put them at risk. i believe we have to end the divisive partisan politics that is ripping this country apart, and we can, it's mean spirited and it's petty and gone on for much too long, i don't believe it's naive to talk to republicans, i don't believe we look at republicans as our enemies, they are opposition, not enemies and for the sake of the country we have to work together, as the president said, compromise is not a dirty word, look at it this way folks, how does the country function without consensus, how can we

move forward without being able to arrive at consensus, four more years of this kind of battle could be more than this country can take, we have to change it. we have to change it. i believe we need a moon shot in this country to cure cancer, it's personal. i know we can do this. the president and i have been working hard on increasing funding for research and development because there are so many breakthroughs just on the horizon in science and medicine, the things that are just about to happen. and we can make them real. with an absolute national commitment to end cancer as we know it today. and i'm going to spend the next 15 months in this office to push as hard as i can to accomplish this, because i know there will democrats and republicans on the

hill that share our passion, our passion to silence this deadly disease, if i could be anything, i would want to be the president that ended cancer, because it's possible. and we need to keep moving forward in the arc of this nation toward justice, the rights of lgbt community and immigration reform and equal pay for women and protecting their safety from violence and rooting out institutional racism. at their core everyone of these things are about the same thing, it's about equality and fairness and about respect, my dad used to say, it's about affording every single person dignity. it's not complicated. every single one of these issues is about dignity.

and the ugly forces of hate and division won't let up but they do not represent the american people, they do not represent the heart of this country, they represent the political elite and the next president has to take it on and most of all, i believe there are limited possibilities for this country. i don't know how many people have heard me say this, we are so much better positioned than any other country in the world, i have been doing this for a long time. i was elected as a 29-year-old kid i was called the optimist, i am more optimistic about the possibilities, the considerable possibilities to leap forward than any time in my career, and i believe in my core, there is no nation better to lead the

world than the united states of america, washington needs to begin to function again, instead of problem it has to be part of the solution again. we have to be one america again and at our core i have always believe that what sets america apart from every other nation is that we, ordinary americans, believe in possibilities. unlimited possibilities. the possibilities for a kid growing up in a poor inner city neighborhood or a spanish speaking home. or a kid from mayfield in delaware or willow grove, pennsylvania, like jill and i. to be able to be anything we wanted to be, to be able to do anything. anything. that we want, that is what we were both taught, that is what the president was taught, it was

real. that is what i grew up believing. and you know, it's always been true in this country, and if we ever lose that, we have lost something very special. we'll have lost the very soul of this country. when i was growing up my parents in tough times looked at me and would say to me and my brothers and sister, honey it's going to be okay. and they meant it. they meant it. it was going to be okay. but some of you cover me, i say go back to your old neighborhoods and talk to your contemporaries that have not been address success. there are too many parents that don't believe they can look their kid in the eye and say

with certainty you will be okay. that is the true measure of our success and we will not have met it until every parent looks their kid in the eyes and says it will be okay, and mean it. the nation has done it before in difficult times. i have had the very great good fortune and privilege of being in public service most of my adult life, since i was 25 years old, through personal triumphs and tragedies, my entire family, by son, beau, hunter and ashley and jill, our entire family, we found purpose in public life, we found purpose in public life. so we intend, the whole family,

not just me, we intend the next 15 months fighting for what we have always cared about, what my family has always cared about with every ounce of our being, and working alongside the president and members of congress and our future nominee, i am absolutely certain we are fully capable of accomplishing extraordinary things. we can do this. and when we do, america won't just win the future we'll own the finish line. thank you for all being so gracious to jill and me for the last six or eight months and our whole career for that matter, but i'm telling you we can do so much more. and i'm looking forward to continuing to work with this man to get it done. >> thank you. >> [ applause ]
