scene with the latest. trish? >> reporter: well, eva, no word yet on the woman's identity. i'll let you take a look at the scene. there's a fence up around the complex. the victim's family is being notified after the deadly three-alarm fire at plymouth rock apartments. intense flames and smoke forced 18 people from their homes. >> they put a ladder up and climbed up and helped me get on a chair and climb down the ladder. i had nothing but my pants and shirt, no socks or shoes, someone loaned me their shoes. >> reporter: officials say one woman who lived here with her fiance was pronounced inside. while smoke alarms were working in the building, there were no

sprinklers. >> there were fire walls, but they had breached holes through them. we had a high drant out front -- hydrant that got hit with a vehicle or something that was out of commission totally, that's why the lines are running down the streets. >> neighboring gathered outside the buildings sharing videos and looking at the damage after a long and harrowing night. >> we get a jacket and next she went to that apartment. >> reporter: the red cross is assisting two discern people. red paw is helping those who have dogs and cats in the complex that need a place to stay. officials are investigating the cause of the place. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> developing, police in chester county are urging parents to check your kids' halloween candy. take a look at this. kennett square police say sewing type needs were found inside

five wrapped twix bars giving to four different children last night. the candy and packaging are being examined. police say it's not clear if somebody deliberately tampered with the candy or something happened during distribution. police are investigating discovery of a woman's body in atlantic city, found around 7:00 at the laundry room at the atlantic palace suites. police have not said if they know the woman's name. camden police are searching for suspects in a halloween homicide. a man in his 30s was shot in his leg on the front porch. it happened at 11:00 p.m. on kramer street. the victim was rushed to the hospital where he died. there's no word on what sparked the shooting. from our delaware newsroom an overnight crash in fairfax sent a woman to the hospital.

the action cam is on the scene at 202 and faulk road. the woman lost control of the car and slammed into a guardrail. she was taken to christiana hospital with non-life threatening injuries. temple students are holding their head up high thanks to their gritty performance by their temple team against notre dame. the defense did a stellar job most of the night was not able to keep the irish out of the endzone. their final chance was intercepted. it was the their only turnover in the game. they lose 24-20. a record crowd packed the link for the nationally televised contest. temple fans enjoyed the team standing up to the notre dame, the irish fan were glad to get

minutes. >> shots fired. >> reporter: 8:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in this neighborhood where the police found the shooter's first victim face down next to his bicycle. >> i heard the shots and called police. i'm going back and forth between the trees. >> reporter: police arrived on the scene faced with an active shooter situation. >> shots fired and cruiser being shot at. >> reporter: the gunman turned the weapon on two women smoking on the nearby front porch. >> i took my shirt off an put pressure oned wound. there was another lady shot in the jaw. >> reporter: despite his efforts, both women died. when police encounter the gunman they exchanged fire. >> we turned around that's when they shot him.

>> reporter: abc news. >> halloween took a tragic turn in new york when an out-of-control car plowed into a group of trick or treaters killing three people. police say the group was trick or treating before 5:00 p.m. when the car jumped the curb and went on the sidewalk and hit them. two men and a ten-year-old girl died. four others including a 3-year-old were hurt. >> families and kids trick or treating walking behind me. all of a sudden, like, i heard the boom, the car literally jumped over the parked car and flew into the gate. >> the driver a 52-year-old plan was among those hurt. police are trying to figure out what caused him to lose control. there's still much more to come on "action news" sunday afternoon. a world renown bass player is bringing his musical message to our area for one night only. we'll tell you where and when you can catch him. we're there as pat sajak

sea isle, 61. breezes out of the south/southwest. we get a gust as high as 20, 25 miles per hour. they are gusting up to 30 miles per hour on the water. that's making for rough seas small craft advisory was issued from the national weather service for the remainder. day. as you look wider you can see the clouds thinning to the west. it will trend east over the next few hours. we're stuck in between two low pressure systems one to the north and one to the south both bringing the mild southwest to northeast flow for us. that's helping the temperatures out. come tomorrow, the storm system will pass to the south. it will add more in the way of clouds to the picture once again, and, perhaps, a brief passing shower from dover points south, kent and sussex county and points south.

police is say a driver dres the as superman hit a pedestrian in south philadelphia and took off. election day is two days away and voters in philadelphia will be heading to the polls to pick a new mayor. more on those stories in a moment, but first a check of the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast with meteorologist chris sowers. it is outside, it is still a little chilly out there. no audio. we'll come back to chris in just a little bit. >> officials in montgomery trying to figure out what sparked a devastating and deadly fire it broke out last night at the plymouth rock apartments in plymouth meeting. it claimed the life of a woman and destroyed a dozen apartments. trish hartman has been following the story live at the scene now with the latest. trish? >> reporter: good morning, eva, yeah, we're still waiting to learn the woman's name as

officials continue to investigate the deadly fire that forced dozens of people from their homes. it was a long and scary night for residents of plymouth rock apartments and those who live nearby. those we spoke to were in the middle of halloween festivities. >> we rushed over here there was a small fire in the buildings. >> we are outside and we see the fire truck there. firefighters were called to the buildings around 10:30. a seconds alarm was struck followed by a third alarm before midnight. officials say 18 apartments were destroyed and 30 people displaced. authorities say one woman was trapped inside and pronounced inside the buildings after her fiance attempted to rescue her. another woman said she called 911 and was rescued from the balcony. a lot of people didn't come out of the building until we started screaming and banging. a lot of people were banging on

the outside because the hallway was full of smoke. >> reporter: while there were no sprinkler system in the buildings there were working smoke alarms going off when they arrived. officials are investigating the cause. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> police are looking for the person or persons who slashed tires on about a dozen vehicles in wilmington, delaware. the action cam was on the scene of the 1900 block of seneca road. when stephen jones came out out to go to work this morning he was shocked to see the flats on his car and neighbors. >> some person thought was funny and stab a bunch of tires, we've got more than a dozen cars $200 a tire, we're talking about multiple felonies. it's ridiculous. >> jones said a couple of neighbors did not get into until

2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. so whoever did slash the tires did it after that time. police are looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian and took off. the man was hit at 8:30 at pattison and broad street. the driver of the truck who was dressed in a superman costume got out and ran toward the septa concourse. funeral services will be held for jeffery radio will be held at barclay funeral home in clayton. he was found dead on the beach in strathmere on tuesday. reports say he drown, though other details have not been released. he served as mayor from 20009 to 2012. we're learning details about the russian passenger plane that crashed in egypt sinai pinsula will a. the plane broke up at a high

row. forensic experts have begun autopsy on the victims of a nightclub fire in romania. friday's blaze killed 27 people and injured 180 others. people ended up in a stampede toward the club's only exit. a spark started the fire, but authorities are collecting evidence from the scene. this coming tuesday is election day across the area. voters in pennsylvania will cast their ballots for three supreme court justices and philadelphia residents will pick their next mayor. the two main candidates are jim kenny and melissa bailey both are crisscrossing the city as they make one last effort before election day to court are voters stay with "action news" and 6abc.com for the final days of campaigning and up to date

reporting both areas reporting partly sunny skies that's where the cloud deck starts to end. that will collapse over the next few hours, here's the big range. we have an area of low pressure over new orleans. that will pull to the north. it's not going to come up, though. it will work out to sea off the coast of the virginia capes. it will gets close enough to the area dover and areas to the south pick up some kind of rainfall tomorrow afternoon, but not expecting too much of this. from the city points north it's a combination of sun and clouds. rainfall totals over the next 24 to 36 hours. the big ranges are across the gulf coast states. mobile 3 inches. lanlts close to 4. -- atlanta, close to 4. columbia, south carolina five. and charlie ton will pick up wet weather with that. this storm according to the forecast models as long as it behaves itself will work out to sea.
