start due to extra security measures. trish tresh has more on the -- trish hartman has more on the tight security surrounding the race. >> reporter: that's right, eva, you can see lots of runners are coming across finish line, finishing up their half marathon , 13.1 miles. lots of runners coming across here, we are waiting for the full finishers. security has been tough, 0,000 runners are participating, 60,000 spectators there's a lot of people. i'm joined by michael nutter and the race director desiree peter bell. how are things going? >> they are going well, we have 30,000 runners and 60,000 spectators, the energy is in the

air. >> reporter: i know you've heard about security concerns everyone wanted to feel safe. how did you respond to that in stepping up security for the weekend. >> a lot of measures have been in place since the unfortunate incident at the boston marathon. clear bags, our runners are well prepared and we reminded them of the security measures we have in place year. >> reporter: we saw long lines at security how was that? >> safety first, everyone got into their coal -- correspond -- corrals. everybody was happy starred to finish. >> i get inspired by the runners about the race, i get close to being inspired to run an reality sets in and then that goes away.

hear. an argument between a married couple led to a deadly pedestrian crash on i-4935. it happened on the southbound lanes near the i-95 junction near newport. the husband and wife were arguing as they traveled down 495. the woman decided to jump out of the moving car and hit by another vehicle. she was rushed to christiana hospital where she died from frr injuries. a car was split in half before it crashed on the boulevard last night. the driver was weaving in and out of the traffic. the impact threw the driver from the car. he was killed instantly. one car slammed into a servered part of that car, a third car was hit by flying debris. >> police are investigating what sparked an early morning

murder in north philadelphia. a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest and both legs. he was rushed to temple university hospital where he died from his wounds. so far police have no motives or suspects. from our new jersey newsroom lieutenant governor said the state's top problems are the property taxes. many people are so disgusted they don't vote. and she said lawmakers need to find a away to stop the anger. new jersey lawmakers are putting the state's lottery under the microscope. a senate hearing will will be hd tuesday on the trend of downward spiral. >> the eagles face tampa bay

city for the philadelphia marathon 2015. long lines for the runners and spectators all the media forced race officials to delay the start of the race nearly 20 minutes. trish hartman joins us live from the parkway with more on the tight security surrounding the marathon. trish it looks like everything is running smoothly. >> reporter: officials say thinks are going smoothly at the start finish area and on the race course. some of the past marathoners have controlsed the line, they are exhaust the but -- crossed the line, they are exhausted, but happy to be done. security was tight like we mentioned for the thousands of runners participating in the weekend's races. looks like the first full marathon if i finisher is coming across the line right now. there he is. the winner of the philadelphia full marathon.

searched the plane with police dogs looking for explosives. investigators found no evidence afternoon explosive device. iraq released this video of airstrikes carried out against isis north and west of baghdad. it hit targets in mosul and anbar province. it caused damage to isis facilities. a fire broke out in one of the tallest sky scraper in chicago. the blaze happened on the 50th floor of iconic hancock building. more than 100 firefighters battled the blaze which's to be accidental. the unit was gutted by the fire. police in berks county say they have found the body of missing college student jacob marberger found yesterday at the picnic area of hawk mountain.

pennsylvania state police say he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. he was a student at washington college in maryland. in delaware county, authorities are investigating the discovery of a man's body in a creek. police were called yesterday afternoon about the body found in ridley creek in chester. an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. a vietnam veteran from northeast philadelphia can enjoy his backyard again. renovating hope came together to give him a new deck with a ramp to make it wheelchair accessible. even though he lost a leg, he still does things on his own. >> i redid this whole house, i was always working.

around the philadelphia marathon. the. >> the race got off to a late start due to the extra security measures. trish trsh has -- trish hartman has more on the tight security surrounding the race. >> reporter: many say they are confidence in the security measures race director has put in place. many were moo concerned about the wind -- were more concerned about the wind than the security. there are 6 security checkpoints to enter the start-finish secure zone. on the parkway organizers say they heard from the runners and spectators after the paris attacks. -- paris attacks. runners reported long lines at the checkpoints which contributed to the delay in the start by 15 minutes. despite that late start for the race, organizers say things are going smoothly and safely with

security. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> police in delaware say an argument between a married couple led to a deadly pedestrian crash on i-495. it happened at 2:00 a.m. this morning. a husband and wife from maryland were arguing as they traveled down 495. the woman decided to jump out of the moving car and hit by another vehicle. she was rushed to christiana hospital are where she died from her injuries. a car was split in half after a deadly accident on the boulevard late last night. police say the driver was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic while trying to make a turn on to woodward street. the impact threw the driver from the car. he was killed instantly. a third car was hit by flying debris. the other drivers were treated for pliern -- minor injuries. police are looking into what sparked an early morning

murder in philadelphia. police say a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest and both legs. he was rushed to temple university hospital where he died from his wounds. police have no motives or suspects. from our new jersey newsroom, lieutenant governor said the state's top problem is property taxes. according publish reports residents are angry because trenton isn't doing anything about the highest property taxes in the nation. many are so disgusted they don't vote. and lawmakers need to find a way to stop the anger . a senate committee is holding a hearing on the partial privatization of the lottery and the its recent performance. the state officials blame it on a national downward trend, or whether it has to do with a vendor overseeing sales and marketing. >> the eagles face the tampa

penguins at the denmark zoo tried to make a break for it. zoo employees knew something was up when they spotted all their little tracks. they followed them and tried to confront them the flock tried to make another run for it. the zoo employees wondered if the animals were not inspired by the penguins from the film penguins of madagascar. a texas alligator wandered on to a texas gulf course and gave the golfers a square. alligator wranglers were brought in to corral the reptile so nobody could get hurt. it probably came from a nearby river somewhere. it was a hair raising situation at the fill more --

fillmore in fishtown for a bearded competition. the winner was a resident of brewery town. for every inch of beard that was counted a dollar was donated to the testiculare cancer fund. this is kendall elementary it is one of the last standing one room schoolhouses in the entire country. there's 15 students who stayed together from kindergarten to 6th grade. that means having the same students for search years and that means they are family. they can move at their own pace. you go by ability leaves.
