the driver of the car. but somehow both did. it is monday night, and the big story on "action news" tonight, an extraordinary story of survival. and tonight, hearing from a man who beat death by seconds. and dann cuellar is live with the exclusive details. >> that's right, jim. 35-year-old mark rohrbach a truck driver by trade has an incredible story to tell. he says he field very lucky to be alive tonight. >> i am thankful that i am here for the holidays. >> 35-year-old mark rohrbach of cinnaminson is shell-shocked following the accident. chapter in west chester. and he look at what is left of his ford pick up truck he can't believe it. >> what you saw it in broad daylight what went through your minute? >> wow. how could somebody walk away from that?

>> rohrbach says about 4:30 this morning he was traveling southbound on 295 coming around exit 20 when a vehicle traveling the wrong way came right at him. >> i seen a vehicle's headlights coming towards me, and my first reaction was to hit the brakes and swerve. as i swerved, the vehicle, she swerved towards me. and we both hit about 65 miles an hour head-on. >> the driver that hit him, 26-year-old eileen dougherty of boothwyn, pennsylvania, was trapped in her prius and had to be extricated. she was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and rohrbach did not suffer a scratch. >> somebody was watching me. >> somebody was definitely watching you. >> somebody was watching over me today. >> who are you thanking up there. >> everybody. everybody in my family, everybody. >> and he lost his cell phone and presents for his kids but thank fuful to be alive.

>> going into the thanksgiving holiday you have a lot to be thankful. >> yes, we do. and we will be the talk of the table. i hope everything else turns out for the other driver. >> the other driver, eileen dougherty remains hospitalized but will survive. charges of driving under the influence and other offenses. dann cuellar for channel 6 "action news." two firefighters and a civilian are recovering from injuries they suffered don't in this deptford, new jersey hours fire. recording the scene along lexington drive late tonight. authorities say the blaze broke out after 9:30. this is a live look at the scene. the fire not under control, and smoke is coming from the scene. the firefighters don't know yet what caused the blaze.

three people murdered in philadelphia this afternoon, the city passed a grim milestone. 250 victims killed in homicides this year is already more than last year's total of 248 it and there is still more than a month left in 2015. "action news" reporter at police headquarters with the details of the deadly rise in crime. >> both crime scenes police say there are no motives and suspects. and the bloodshed is a harsh reality for many victim's family men's trying to make sense of all of the violence. [screaming] >> sobs filled jasper street. a gunman fired an about a laj -- fired a barrage of bullets into the home. >> it was a violent scene. there was a lot of blood. it was clear each was shot at least one time in the head.

they may have been shot more because we did find nine spent casings. >> monday's shooting pushed the homicide total to 249. >> and surpassing last year's homicides. >> right at the same numbers. well criminals with guns. this is ridiculous. >> out-going commissioner charles ramsey says police can only do so much and community has to step up. >> people have to stop it. and it is part of what we are up against as law enforcements. and we make an arrest and people say it is dispo popou popou popr >> the homicide an hour later a 19-year-old shot multiple times. three shootings in one day and more families are struggling with the loss of loved ones to gun violence. and the question now, can we

finish with fewer than 300 homicides in the last time we went over that number was in 2012. >> thank you. the u.s. state department issued an alert for all american travellers. the alert states that militants with isis, al qaeda, boko harah and other terrorist groups continue to plan attacks in multiple regions around the world. americans are being told to exercise particular caution during the holiday period. the alert this effect until february 24. passengers traveling from philadelphia international airport expect to see increased security measures including bomb-sniffing dogs. they were planned before the travel alert went into effect. and the k9s were checking lug among but now they will be

expects to the victims, and they discussed hollande's plans to put together a military collision including the united states and russia to destroyed isis. and coming to the u.s. tomorrow and moscow on thursday. and the philadelphia police trying to track down a thief stealing unopened packages from an apartment building. chad pradelli live at the scene of the crime in the 3800 block of spring garden street. what exactly has been happening there? >> jim, police say roughly a half-dozen packages worth $3,000 were stolen earlier this month. they were stole from right there. you see those secure mailboxes the packages are too big so the police say they were put on top or underneath, saying that was a prime opportunity for the thief. >> police say the thief hit three times during the first week of november. he steals packages just inside of a gated entrance and then

flees on foot down the 3800 block of spring garden. and one of the tenants with something stolen? a beautiful picture frame, never made it inside. >> and one instance the gated door was broken to gain entry. in this case the thief waits for a resident to enter and follows behind the and steals the bicycle. >> and the door they have worked on a few times mainly because there is trouble keeping closed and the lock easy to figure out. >> and the local days are upon us and online sales going up 14%. a lot of packages are being delivered all hours of day and night. >> and management etailed tenants warming about the thefts. and he has no regard for surveillance. look at him. older, walking with a lump and a gray beard. >> we believe he is from the area and happened to walk around and saw the items sitting there and figured i can get in there
