making news in america this morning, terror concerns at home and abroad overnight. a bulletin from the fbi and homeland security warning about the most likely threat to the homeland. plus, the worldwide travel alert from the state department. breaking overnight, a protest turning violent. people shot near a demonstration being held for the shooting of a black man by a police officer. new details coming in. caught on camera, a man dressed as darth vader robbing a tore and getting more than he bargained for. season finale on "dancing with the stars," who was sent home setting the stage for tonight's big show and the moment that moved the judges to tears.

and we do say good tuesday morning. authorities are sounding the alarm after a month of deadly terror attacks. >> growing concerns about terror organizations and their possible plans during the busy holiday week. here are new developments. a joint bulletin issued by the fbi and homeland security saying terror groups could try to replicate the effects of the paris attacks. >> the state department issuing a worldwide travel alert because of terror threats and right now the terror dragnet in brussels paralyzing them for a fourth straight day in belgium and could last another week. abc's joe ramstetter ramstette with the details. >> reporter: the state department is -- they say they're not telling americans not to travel around the world but to be vigilant. if you plan on traveling this holiday season, a new warning for you in the wake of recent deadly attacks in paris.

thanks so much. a possible new clue in the hunt for an eighth suspect in the paris attacks. >> a suicide belt turning up in the suburb of that city. did it belong to salah abdeslam, who is still on the run? authorities say his cell phone signal was pinging in the very same suburb late at night after the attacks. he was last seen in brussels, belgium. >> of course, that city which is the headquarters of nato and the european union on lockdown this morning for a fourth consecutive day. s.w.a.t. teams in masks swarming the neighborhood where that eighth suspect lived. officials imposing the highest alert because of a possible terror threat that they say, quoting here, is serious and imminent. abc's matt gutman driving along with brussels police officers seeing the city under siege. >> reporter: this whole city is on lockdown. everywhere you go you see police officers with masks, machine guns, army. >> yes. >> that will remain in place until next week but schools,

public transportation and government offices in brussels will begin to open again tomorrow. we've got breaking news that is coming in from turkey where the military says it has shot down a russian plane and now we're getting reports that russia is confirming that report. turkey says the russian jet violated its airspace near the syrian border. the early reports that we're getting say the two pilots parachuted to safety. russia, of course, has been conducting air strikes in syria since september. this morning donald trump is doubling down on his statement that he saw on television muslims in new jersey celebrating the 9/11 attacks. he says he's received hundreds of calls and tweets in recent days from people who told him that they eyewitnessed the scenes that he described and he read part of this article from "the washington post." >> in jersey city within hours of two jetliners plowing into the world trade center, law enforcement authorities detained

and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style -- >> "the washington post" later said that article was incorrect. ben carson, trump's main rival is backing away from claims he made earlier about muslims in new jersey celebrating. a spokesman said carson remembers news footage of groups in the middle east celebrating. the republican governor of indiana is being sued over his attempts to block syrian refugees from settling in that state. that federal lawsuit brought by the aclu, governor mike pence suspended the resettlement following the paris attacks. the lawsuits indicate it violates the equal protection clause of the constitution because indiana accepts refugees from other countries. well, breaking overnight four crew members are dead after a helicopter crash at the ft. hood range in texas. military officials say the helicopter was on a routine training mission and

investigation to determine the cause of the crash is under way. the names of the deceased have not been released. following more breaking news from minneapolis where five protesters have been shot overnight near ongoing demonstrations over the fatal shooting of a black man by police officers. the shooters were part of a white supremacist group with at least one wearing a mask when protesters tried to herd them away from the scene, the shooting broke out. none of the injuries were told to be life-threatening. 9 weather not doing favors to those flying to or from the west coast. storm system moving into california, oregon and washington. we're talking up to a foot of snow expected in the sierra nevada. more from accuweather's molly cochran. how is it looking, molly? good morning, kendis and reena. we continue to keep an eye out on the next system impacting the pac northwest bringing in heavy snow totals through wednesday night. sierra nevadas could look at 6 to 12 inches of snow. now, wednesday a very high

more incidents of laser pointers aimed at cockpits. at least eight planes were targeted near love field in dallas sunday night. most of them were inbound southwest airlines jets. at least one pilot reported a minor eye injury. so far no arrest has been made. in texas a family of that 14-year-old texas boy whose teacher thought his homemade clock was a bomb wants $15 million and an apology for his treatment. he was arrested and suspended over that device. his treatment sparked allegations of racism because he is muslim. ahmed's family claims his reputation in the global community is now permanently damaged. >> he is forever associated with bombmaking. there's a picture out on the

pastor davey blackburn had left the front door unlocked when he went to the gym. amanda blackburn was 13 weeks pregnant. her 15-month-old son in the home was unharmed. police are investigating whether another man was involved. davey blackburn will talk about the arrest later this morning on "good morning america." there's also an arrest for another headline grabbing crime. this one in new orleans. peter gold was shot when he says he saw a woman being dragged down the street and stopped to help. the crimes were caught on surveillance video. gold remains in guarded condition after being shot in the stomach. the mayor says gold has a difficult recovery ahead. take a look at this. the man you see here dressed as darth vader is now charged with armed robbery and other counts after attempting a holdup at a florida convenience store. he demanded money from the clerk. you see that, the ranch dressing is what they used to fight him off, not a lightsaber. the guy was identified by a neighbor who clearly recognized his face.

well, utah couple is going public with an incredible health crisis. their 8-year-old daughter has breast cancer that started with a lump later confirmed by tests. chrissy turner is scheduled to have surgery next month. her case is being closely watched by specialists around the world. >> it is a very rare form of breast cancer that it's call ed se s secretory carcinoma. she's the youngest they had run across having this particular type of breast cancer. >> incredibly the unfortunate news this isn't the first bout of cancer. mom annette is a cervical cancer survivor. dad a "desert storm" veteran diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma. friends set up a go fund me page to help them. the nfl is looking into whether correct procedures were followed when the st. louis rams
