shootout with state police and one police officer was hit and the crash caught a school bus in flames. the big story is the developing story we are following since this morning, the shooter was arrested at the scene but two more suspects are at large tonight. we are learning more about the trooper hit by gun fire, he has been on the force since 2009 and we are told he did return fire today. vernon odom is live outside of hahnemann hospital, but first lets go to sara bloomquist live at the scene with the lightest. rick and monica, the vine street expressway is open to traffic this evening, from high up above you with make out the charred pavement, the 17-year-old is charged with atemmed murder. >> it's like something out of

the movies. >> reporter: this was the scene on i-676 this morning with a white sedan and school bus burning on the highway, 31-year-old state trooper casey was on his way to the hospital with a gunshot wound. trooper casey came to back up two other troopers that pulled over the white sedan for an expired registration and got all occupants out of the vehicle and handcuffed one, one suspect, the juvenile jumped back in the white sedan and took off. >> at some point the suspect car came alongside the trooper's car and the suspect began firing from his car at trooper casey. >> this still photo from a viewer shows the bullet holes to the trooper's cruiser, he took a bullet to the shoulder. the suspect lost control of the

>> thank you sara. take a look at the photo sent in from "action news" viewer, matt yost, he captured all the bullet holes in the windshield of the state trooper's cruiser. lets go to vernon odom live at hahnemann university. you have the latest on trooper casey's condition. >> reporter: trooper casey will remain in the hospital overnight mainly for observation, with all the gun fire, he comes out of this situation way flesh wound to the left shoulder but the bullet remains lodged in his shoulder and doctors will not operate and take it out for now. when trooper casey was rushed to hahnemann's emergency room it became a mad house when people like mayor nutter came to check on his condition and his colleagues deeply concerned until they got relatively good news that the wound was a relatively mild one. >> trooper casey is expected to

"action news" traffic report tuesday night. matt pellman is in the traffic center. >> it's not the same mayhem like earlier this morning, this was the scene of the crash, the bus fire along the vine street expressway this afternoon nothing like that, just a whole lot of people some getting out of dodge for the holiday weekend and westbound heavy toward the schuylkill expressway and that is because we had a westbound gaper delay along 676 for a westbound vehicle fire, along the montgomery drive on ramp, penndot and police are on the scene and all the lanes are open on the schuylkill but it's extra heavy as you come eastbound from belmont and montgomery. a crash on 422 by the phoenixville collegeville exit and speeds are in the 20s out of king of prussia, we are getting ready for burlington bristol bridge opening in just about five minutes or so for a

hello again, here is what is happening on "action news" tonight, a traffic stop erupts into a shootout on the vine street expressway and ends with a trooper in the hospital. we are live with how it unfolded and new information about the paris terror attacks more on the second attack that was thwarted and senior citizens who were finding it hard to keep food in their homes are finding help and hope through a local organization. and now more on the police shootout on the vine street expressway, it land said two suspects in handcuffs but two others are on the run tonight. >> troopers stopped a white car because of an expired inspection sticker and from there the situation escalated rapidly -- an "action news" viewer captured this frightening exchange between the suspect and the

state police, the car wedged underneath the school bus and a few minutes later both vehicles were engulfed in flames and several more rounds of gun fire erupted here and people stopped watching paralyzed. john rawlins live tonight above i-676 where this all unfolded today. >> reporter: well, when asked police with not or could not say how many rounds of fire were exchanged today and talking to witnesses though, they estimated at least a dozen or maybe more, several spoke of the strong gun powder in the air, a chaotic day here, a pursuit and shootout and a significant fire. at first it was difficult to figure out what had happened, 676 was shut down and a car rammed a bus sparking a fire, a state trooper had been shot his cruiser riddled with bullet
