passengers, today they are expecting more than 140,000, look behind me you can see the tight security, dogs and also security that does have weapons that are here in plain sight at 30th street station, everybody should be ready to have their bags scanned, and everybody should feel safe. >> the crack of dawn is the best bet for travelers relying on trains and planes. >> early 5:15 to new york city. >> my flight is not until 12:30, but i wanted to get up early to beat the traffic. >> so far everything is smooth and the taxi ride was quick. >> reporter: at philadelphia international airport the morning rush grew but was not bad. 46 million are connected to travel. this year their new pet policy

allowing small dogs and cats and carriers on some trains with a reservation added a few riders including 4-year-old yogi. >> i used to have to rent a car if i wanted to bring him anywhere. >> reporter: expect a heavy security presence at train stations, and agents are heavily armed. >> that is just one commonant of our security. there are a lot of things that passengers won't see that is going on behind the scene. >> i'm not letting anybody, no terrorists no nothing destroy and take my joy. >> reporter: some americans might avoid mass transit all together to save some cash. >> this thanksgiving we'll see the highest travel volume since 2007 because of the economy and

low gas prices. >> i think all of you recognize how horrific and heinous the events in paris was and it touches a deep core given the connection of the united states and france the degree to which americans see in paris a way of life that is so familiar to us here in american cities, and given the shocking images, i know that americans have been asking each other whether it's safe here? whether it's safe to fly or gather? i know that the families discussed the fears about their threats around the dinner table and many for the first time since september 11th, and it's understandable that people worry, something similar could happen here, watching the events in paris made the threat feel close toward home. so as we go into thanksgiving weekend i want the american people to know that we are

taking every possible step to keep our homeland safe. first, we are going after isol wherever it hides. that is our strategy for more than a year, let me remind our american people what the coalition is doing to defeat these terrorists and their ideology, so far we have conducted 8,000 air strikes on isol strongholds and equipment, those strike as long with our partners on the ground have taken out key leaders and equipment in both iraq and syria, we are working to choke off our financing and the supply lines and counter their recruitment and messaging and even as america is already supporting french air strikes in canada, president hollande and i agree that our nations will step

up that coordination further and do more of that work together. we are stepping up the pressure of isol where it lives and we will not let up. adjusting our tactics where necessary until they are beaten. that is our first goal. second, we continue to do everything possible to prevent attacks at home and abroad and to prevent foreign terrorist fighters from entering the united states or other nations, since 9/11 we have taken extraordinary measures to strengthen our homeland security from aviation security to border security to information sharing, we have improved upon these actions over time. any time there is an event we learn something from it and we continue to refine them and continue to improve upon our approaches as we speak. now, right now we know of no

specific and credible intelligence indicating a plot on the homeland, and that is based on the latest information i just received in the situation room. it will is similar to the information that i received in the briefing on saturday before i left on my trip last week. so as americans travel this weekend to be with their loved ones, i want them to know that our counter terrorism and intelligence and homeland security and law enforcement professionals at every level are working overtime, they are continually monitoring threats at home and abroad. continually evaluating our security and constantly working to protect all of us. their work has prevented attacks, their efforts have saved lives, they serve every hour of every day for the sake of our security. they did so before paris and they do so now.

without fanfare or credit and without a break for the holidays. so the bottom line is this, i want the american people to know entering the holidays that the combined resources of our military and intelligence and our homeland security agencies are on the case. they are vigilant and relentless and effective. in the event of a credible threat, the public will be informed, we do think it's useful for people as they are going about their business to be vigilant. if you see something suspicious say something. that is always helpful. but otherwise americans should go about their usual weekend activities, spending time with family and friends and celebrating our blessings. and while the threat of terrorism is a troubling reality of our age, we are both quipped

say. >> reporter: he didn't have a whole lot to say sara, he was reluctant to talk about anything, but wounded trooper, pat casey, left the hospital to go home for thanksgiving and telling reporters he feels okay under the circumstances. wounded state trooper, patrick casey, was released from hahnemann hospital moments ago and the flesh wound healing already even though the bullet remains there for the time being, he was wounded during a gun battle with a teenage suspect, during a traffic stop. it raxed the back of a school bus triggering this massive fire. >> i'm feeling much better thank you everybody. >> this morning the suspect, is charged with an adult and faces multiple charges, bail is set at $3 million, there are three other males in the car police

tensions are easing and life is returning to normal in belgium. schools in brussels reopened after a four day shut down after a threat alert across the capital city, armed police officers stood guard at school entrances, trains started running again today for the

first time since the terror level was raised. and they found the crew of a u.s. war plane hit the wrong target last month when they bombed a hospital in afghanistan, the crew misidentified the doctors without boarders hospital in afghanistan, they believed it was a taliban compound and dozens of civilians were wounded or killed in the bombing. chicago police say they arrested five protesters in overnight demonstrations sparked by a video of a 2014 police shooting, it shows 17-year-old laquan mcdonald being shot and killed by officer jason vandyke, before the shooting mcdonald was holding a knife before he slashed a tire. officer vandyke has been charged with murder. and authorities are searching for a woman that left a baby at a christmas nativity

scene at a church in new york city. they found the baby wrapped in towels in the manger, and the baby is in good condition at the hospital right now, several members of the church have stepped forward and offered to adopt him. >> god has mysterious ways of working because i believe when this woman came in with the child, saw this empty home, a home that will welcome jesus in a few short weeks i believe she found in it a home for her child. >> new york has a safe haven law but requires that someone is left in someone's care, that did not happen in this case, they want to speak with the boy's mother, they are concerned about her well being. a split decision likely saved this man's life when a job went terribly wrong. -- a 15-year-old veteran of the

business went in when is the smokestack did not come down and tried to knock it over with his excavator, the smokestack weighing 2. 6 million pounds crashed on the excavator, and he was not injured. if he tried to run he probably would have been crushed. (cell phone beeps) david is here with a check of the accuweather forecast, sunshine on this busy travel day. >> a good looking day great for travelers, stormtracker 6 live double scan shows we are indeed dry and the action cam in wilmington at rodney square this morning, the bright skies are building over the square and that is the way it's looking since then too. 52 in philadelphia, if you stand in the shade it's still cool, winds light at 8 miles per hour. and current temperatures are still in the 40s inal ep town unreading and trenton and everybody needs a coat today. there is satellite reenforcing the idea that we are not looking at clouds. mostly sunny and chilly and not all that windy and on the chilly side there, winds are not all that strong and in philadelphia, we go for a high of 54 degrees

under mostly sunny skies and on average running 4 to 8 miles per hour. overnight on the chilly side and not as cold as the last couple of nights, in philadelphia we dip to 39 and most of the suburbs stay above freezing and there you see the light winds overnight as well. for the parade tomorrow, it looks like it will be on average a fairly mild one for parade goers. starting under the clouds 44 degrees, i think there is a chance we transition to partly sunny skies through the parade but the numbers behave nicely. 10:00, 51 degrees and by noon close to 61 degrees, that is a good parade call. your exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast today we are still around the average high, 54 degrees and maybe a bit above and a bit milder than yesterday, and tomorrow we still have light winds and there could be cloud cover because of an easterly flow and an afternoon high on
