>> good morning, it is 7:00 a.m. on this saturday, november 28. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news," a police standoff at a colorado planned parenthood clinic ends with three people dead including an officer. we're live with the latest. a man is hospitalized after flipping his car on lincoln drive overnight. shoppers turn their eyes and hard-earned money toward local stores for small business saturday. the gunman in the deadly standoff in colorado is still in custody. it unfolded yesterday at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado springs. patients and staff inside the clinic hid under the furniture and inside locked rooms. three people were killed in that

attack. we go now to brandy hicks who is in colorado. >> reporter: good morning, what a horrific scene and still an active crime scene. in the distance you can see the police cars that's where the planned parenthood facility is. there are experts comb running through the facility making sure the suspect they have in custody didn't leave anything else behind. >> we have two hit. >> reporter: it was five intense hours police exchanging gunfire with the man inside the colorado springs planned parenthood facility after the gunman opened fire in a nearby parking lot. >> he was in front of me, i hit the gas. >> reporter: witnesses say first responders became the next target. one by one, officers were shot and took cover. >> he turned around with a bloody face and said get out of

here. >> reporter: as backup arrived the gun battle continued inside the buildings. 100 officers on scene including the fbi. a man's sister was caught inside the building. he spoke to her by phone. >> did she see him? >> yeah. >> reporter: two civilians were killed during the shooting spree along with the 44-year-old officer robert swasey. the gunman sure surrendered. >> i feel helpless that's all. >> reporter: it's hard to imagine what all the people went through, it's not clear how many days officers will care on the

scene. while they continue to investigate a motive there's no clear evidence it is linked with planned parenthood. broken hick abc news back to you. >> 6abc.com will have continue updates as the investigation into the colorado springs standoff unfolds. we posted the latest from police, as well as pictures from the scene. we're following breaking news stories for you this morning, a fire in bethlehem forces dozens of people out into the night. this two-alarm fire happened at 2:30 a.m. in the 1500 morocco of irene street at the sherwood pine apartments. two people were rescued, one by a police officer, one by a firefighter. 2 are being helped by red cross. no word on the cause of the

fire. now to new jersey, where traffic will be backed up along the jersey turnpike after a fiery tractor trailering crash this crashed -- tractor-trailer crash this crashed happen in the southbound lanes of the turnpike north of 8a. a minivan was traveling at a slow raped southbound when it was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer which then jackknifed and that caused the tractor-trailer to catch fire and burn. you can see the burned out shell of the tractor-trailer in this live picture. the driver was able to escape uninjured. the driver of the minivan was transported to robert wood johnson and is in stable condition. firefighters are working to clear the scene. turnpike workers are working to clear the debris. the highway should be fully opened in the next hour. but at this hour only one lane

on the southbound side of the turnpike is getting by. if you have to go on the turnpike, that mile marker 77 expect a little bit of back ups there this morning, no word at this hour if there will be any charges filed. we'll follow both of those stories on air and online at 6abc.com. turning to the weather we're tracking the possibility of showers moving into the area later this afternoon. sky6 live hd taking a live look at the center city skyline. there's a little bit of fog out there this morning. a system is moving across the nation to our area and that brings the chance of showers to rain on your saturday plans. don't worry too much just bring the umbrella. meteorologist chris sowers he is outside, it's not a complete washout. >> reporter: as a matter of fact the bigger story is the warmer air that pushes in. it's very, very mild with temperatures above the normal high for this time of year.

tomorrow morning. it will clear the area as it continues on its journey to the south. the rough stuff, the heavy weather will be out here across the heartland of the nation once again today. they have seen a ton of flooding in places like dallas and eastern texas. a ton of ice across the panhandle of texas and snow across the front range that will be the trend, this storm is a slow mover, drifting off to the east at 10 to is a miles per --s per hour. they will see that throughout the duration of the weekend. there's the high bumping the front farther to the south. that's the front that will increase the chances of a little wet weather for the second half of the weekend. for today, future tracker 6, a lot of cloud cover, one or two showers are possible. if you're doing a little shopping or have outdoor plans, bring the umbrella, i don't think a lot of you will need it.

everyone, 7:24 saturday morning, another gorgeous day is expected out there across the delaware valley. the exception being we'll see more in the way of clouds. one or two areas may pick up a spotty shower. look at the temperatures, 64 degrees by 3:00 p.m. we're shooting for a high of 65 which is normal for the middle of october. that temperature seesaw continues to weigh heavily down across the west. that's where all the cold air continues to be. this week coming up we'll see another week featuring warm temperatures, well above seasonal averages. that seesaw is looking just like this. all the cold come from the west, all the warm air from the south that's east of the mississippi. that will be the set up through the majority of the upcoming week him we'll keep the cold in the packed northwest. east of the mississippi river, even though it's going to be

again for the rest of the year. when i come back i'll have more warm temperatures in the seven-day forecast and more chance of rain. see you in ten minutes. >> a driver is dead after this accident in voorhees, camden county. his car hit a tree on the 600 block of white horse around 12:30 a.m. he was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at cooper university hospital. there's a similar story in mount holly burlington county, around the same time, a car plowed into a tree, medics rescued the driver, but he died at the hospital. there are questions this morning about the motive behind a deadly standoff at a colorado planned parenthood clinic. three people were killed in the shootout, including the officer. the officer was from colorado springs university he showed up to help. two civilians were killed. nine others were shot and

wounded five were police officers. >> officers, you know they are obviously in some pain, but thankfully they are alive and talking to us, they are heros. they are absolute heros, the courage they displayed today saved many, many lives. >> all five officers hospitalized are in good condition. the gunman was identified as robert louis dear of north carolina. he has been arrested and remains in police custody. there are reports that possible explosives were found in his car. at this hour, authorities don't know too much about him or if the planned parenthood was a specific target. clouds, but again, a nice morning. 51 degrees in philadelphia. winds shift in a northerly direction. millville, 43. philadelphia, 51. trenton, 49. some 13 degrees warmer than the same time yesterday. look at allentown, almost 20 degrees warmer. reading, 15. millville, 5. funny thing tomorrow all these numbers will be negative, ten degrees colder, 13 degrees colder as the front continues to pull through. we have cold stuff up here. relative to averages it's not that bad. we should be in the 20s in upstate new york and they are barely in the 30s. it will cool us off. a couple of showers associated with the front. here's a better look at it on double scan live. broken line of showers pushing through upstate new york and pennsylvania stretching through the ohio and tennessee valleys. as the front approaches, one or

two spotty showers are possible. if you're traveling north i-95 to boston, there could wet roads that's where the front is coming from. a couple of showers possible. we're not checking delays, these are very light showers, i-95 southbound to richmond, no delays, pennsylvania turnpike westbound to pittsburgh there could showers, but again we're not expecting anything too terribly heavy and we're not checking any wet roads out of this, no delays. so here's future tracker 6, ton of clouds expected today. look at the line how it's already broken apart by 1:00 p.m. one or two showers possible if you're traveling westbound, but nothing too heavy. yoarvel tonight there's a -- overnight tonight there's a small area of low pressure that develops across the front and pushes across the delmarva. you can see how we increased the colors, darker shades of green, toward the city south and east.
