badge and it has shaken up a lot of folks here in south philadelphia. >> i could believe it. anything goes. i believe it. >> reporter: not surprised. >> not surprised one bit. reaction to the robbery here early sunday morning in the 1600 block of east passyunk by a man impersonating a plainclothes policeman who flashed a fake badge and proceeded to rifle a man's wallet for the $14 he carried. police are scouring the neighborhood for surveillance video that could lead to the culprits. police say he was a white male in his mid 30's to early 40's accompanied by a stocky built white female. >> male has a badge around his neck or he displays a badge to the victims in this case and identifies himself as a police officer. so, it's very, you know, disturbing to us. we're trying right now to get video. >> reporter: police believe same pair struck two hours earlier in the 400 block of jackson. they got nothing. the targeted victim bolted and ran police say. the imposters did not pursue.

folks who frequent this normally quiet safe section of south philadelphia in broad daylight are shocked to hear about the crime spree. >> that is very scary. i mean, you can't trust the police, you know, you would have thought you were in good hands and then the guy holds you up? >> reporter: he robbed him of $14 out of his wallet. >> and then ran? >> reporter: impersonated a police officer, yes. >> right. well, i think that's very scary. >> reporter: police say there are standard ways to verify and ensure that it is a real police officer stopping you. >> you can clearly ask them for their identification card and see that that's issued from the philadelphia police department. that's one. second is they can request to have a marked unit. >> reporter: sharrie, the hunt for the bandits continues tonight. it's very intense because police don't want this kind of situation to get out of hand or happen again. police could use some help from the public to find the suspects. live in south philadelphia, i'm vernon odom, channel6 "action news.

>> vern thank you. and this just into "action news" at this hour. a teenager is at a philadelphia hospital being treated for gun shot wounds to his feet. the shooting happened just before 4:00 this afternoon in the 1300 block of north 11th street in north philadelphia. police say the victim was shot one time in each foot. he's at hahnemann hospital in stable condition. no arrests have been made and of course we'll keep you posted on any updates to the story. >> jury selection began today for one of the baltimore police officers charged in the death of freddie gray. gray died back in april after he suffered a severe spinal injury while in police custody. william porter is one of six officers facing charges in connection with gray's death. dozens of jurors were interviewed in court today for porter's trial. the presiding jump questioned him in open court but said he also planned to interview prospective jurors in a private conference room. the judge said porter's trial is expected to wrap up in less

than three weeks. his verdict is expected to set the tone for the trials of the other five officers who are also facing charges. the man suspected of killing three people including a police officer at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado springs had his first court appearance today and while investigators are still searching for a clear motive for the attack we are learning more about the victims. abc news reporter brandi hitt is live in los angeles tonight. >> reporter: several of the victims family members were in court. this was a quick 10 minute hearing and dear did not say much while wearing a suicide prevention suit. >> no questions. >> okay. >> reporter: shackled and staring straight into the camera planned parent hood shooting suspect robert dear appeared before a colorado judge for the first time through video conference. >> the initial charge is murder in the first degree. >> reporter: the 57-year-old is accused of unleashing five hours of terror friday.

accuweather. hello december, cecily. >> hi, rick, that's right and usually you think about cold air and snow in december but i'm tracking some rain and actually some warm air on the way. double scan live showing that we have a few scattered light showers breaking out over our region. you can see steadier rainier washington, d.c. as we zoom out the rain that's pushing up to the north is associated with a warm front but the warm front is down here and it's moving very slowly. so, this warm front will continue to push up to the north as we head through tonight and today and what that will bring -- and tomorrow i should say. what that will bring is periods of generally light rain. for the first day. it will also bring up some warm air. currently philadelphia, it's 46 degrees. that's 4 degrees below normal. if you look south of this front, though temps are in the 70's. we will not get that warm but we'll be in the 50's tomorrow and then we'll be in the 60's on wednesday and wednesday is when we get the heaviest rain. so, the next two days are going to be wet and the next

>> time now for another check of the accuweather forecast. meteorologist cecily tynan at the big board and again get ready for some precip starting tonight. >> that's right. first the light rain and then the heavier rain by wednesday. clouds are in place, though. we are live on sky6 taking a look at the center city skyline and we had a few peeks of sunshine earlier today but then the clouds rolled in and double scan live picking up a few light showers, a few sprinkles. the highest concentration in this line that stretches right over i-78 from kutztown towards allentown, crossing 222. not a lot of rain. the heaviest rain will be moving in on wednesday and we will see some steady rain in the overnight hours as well. but today the high 46 degrees. that's 4 degrees below normal so one of the rare cool days this november. if you look at this map, the days in blue are the days when our afternoon high was below normal. only five days.

we had two days of seasonal temperatures but look at all these days in orange. those are days temperatures above normal so the month temperatures five and a half degrees above normal. so, this ranks as the second warmest november in history for philadelphia. third warmest in allentown, wilmington the sixth warmest atlantic city this november the eighth warmest on record. temperatures right now, though, on the cool side. 46 degrees again in philadelphia. millville 48. allentown 44. wilmington 45. you get closer to the ocean, the ocean temperature 53. that does have an impact on the air temperature. cape may currently 52 degrees and temperatures will really be holding steady in the overnight hours and maybe even creeping up a little bit thanks to a warm front. satellite6 along with action radar showing the moisture from this warm front really concentrated near washington, d.c. the actual front itself, though, is near the carolinas. so this will gradually move up as we head through the day tomorrow. so, future tracker showing by 11 o'clock tonight we've got a pretty solid band of light

rain over us. heading into the morning commute, it will be wet with generally light rain. you see there little low pressure, coastal low forming, it's a weak system but this will help enhance the moisture. a break in the action tuesday afternoon and then a stronger low pressure ahead of a cold front will move in and this will bring us a pretty good soaking on wednesday. you can see at 11 o'clock wednesday morning some heavy rain over us and this will last into the late afternoon hours and the evening hours on wednesday. so this is what to expect the next two days. periods of rain. the heaviest will be on wednesday. we're looking at one to 2 inches of rain really much needed rain and temperatures will be rising. tomorrow temps in the 50's and on wednesday, despite that heavy rain, temperatures up into the 60's. so, the five day at 5:00 as we start off december, periods of rain tomorrow, generally on the light side with a high of 57 degrees. wednesday that steady soaking, temperatures 61 degrees ahead

philadelphia. the incident was captured on surveillance video. jones was captured in 2013 after an exhaustive search. >> from our delaware news room tonight we now know the name of the young woman who died in a deadly crash in bear yesterday. she is 20-year-old thalia crawford of brooklyn. authorities say she and two other people were riding in an suv that collided with another car then both rolled down an embankment. five other people including a baby were injured. still not clear what led up to the crash. >> the slick police officer accused of murdering a teenager last year appeared in court today. jason van dyk is charged with first degree murder in the killing of 17-year-old laquan mcdonald. today his lawyers asked the judge to reconsider giving van dyk bond. the judge is reviewing the dashcam video showing the deadly shooting outside the courtroom protestors gathered once again to call for the resignation of the police

commissioner and to call for an internal investigation into the police department. well, the us embassy says it has received credible reports of an imminent attack in the afghanistan capitol of kabul. u.s. officials there are warning citizens to exercise "extreme caution" if moving around the city during the next 48 hours. they have not released information about potential targets, when it may happen or what kind of attack it may be. the taliban often carries out attacks in that area mainly targeting afghan security forces and foreigners. >> president obama is urging the world to take action to reverse global warming. he and 200 world leaders are meeting rider now in paris for the un climate change conference. the long planned meeting comes just weeks after the terror attacks that killed 130 people. president obama says the ongoing terror threat should motivate the world leaders to do more to save the planet. >> nothing will deter us from

record. but rainfall we received less than 2-inches of rain. more than an inch below normal so we could use the rain. the next two days we're getting a pretty good soaking. the bulk of that rain will be on wednesday. temps right now though show little bit on the cool side, 46 degrees. that was our high today. 4 degrees below normal. allentown and trenton 44. millville 48. sea isle city currently 53 degrees and reading 42. so satellite six along with action radar slowing the system that will be heading in. first we have a warm front. that actual warm front is right around the border of north and south carolina. this is what will be lifting through tomorrow. then there's a cold front especially cold enough for some snow across parts of the midwest. we will not be getting the snow but we will be getting the rain for the next two days. so, future tracker really times it out. by midnight the steady rain is here generally on the light side. it will be here for your morning commute. so, good idea to allow extra time. of course tune into "action news" beginning at 4:30. that will slow things down. then we get a bit of a lull in

>> ♪ >> "action news." delaware valley's leading news program. with ducis rodgers, meteorologist cecily tynan and jim gardner. >> ♪ >> monday night authorities search for a man and woman posing as philadelphia cops. and upper darby adds a secure zone for safe transactions made online. butter the big story on "action news" tonight is the investigation into the last night's tragic shootin shootingn hatfield montgomery county. it happened at 138 diamond street. police found three bodies inside a house and they determined that this was a case of double murder and suicide.

"action news" reporter john rawlins is live at the scene in hatfield tonight. john. >> reporter: jim, authorities say five people were actually in that house at the time of the shooting including a four-year-old child and her mother. they were not physically harmed. this is being described as a domestic incident but authorities at this point are not saying what, if anything, triggered it. >> i don't believe it happened. it's unbelievable. >> reporter: can you recall the last time you saw them? >> yesterday. >> i don't make any sense of it at all. it's very disturbing. i'm very sad there it happened to this nice community. >> reporter: neighbors along this quiet street are baffled by the deadly outbursts. authorities say late last night 48-year-old paul marshall used a rifle to shoot and kill two people inside his diamond street home before taking his own life. >> it appears taw it was domestically related and there were two other people that were in the house, a 27-year-old and a four-year-old. they were unharmed. but we had multiple
