rawlins is live at the scene in hatfield tonight. john. >> reporter: jim, authorities say five people were actually in that house at the time of the shooting including a four-year-old child and her mother. they were not physically harmed. this is being described as a domestic incident but authorities at this point are not saying what, if anything, triggered it. >> i don't believe it happened. it's unbelievable. >> reporter: can you recall the last time you saw them? >> yesterday. >> i don't make any sense of it at all. it's very disturbing. i'm very sad there it happened to this nice community. >> reporter: neighbors along this quiet street are baffled by the deadly outbursts. authorities say late last night 48-year-old paul marshall used a rifle to shoot and kill two people inside his diamond street home before taking his own life. >> it appears taw it was domestically related and there were two other people that were in the house, a 27-year-old and a four-year-old. they were unharmed. but we had multiple shots that

were fired and again three deceased. >> reporter: the 27-year-old and four-year-old in the house but not shot by marshall were marshall's daughter and grandchild. neighbors said marshall also lived there with his 48-year-old fiancé a school bus driver and her 28-year-old son. the hair family lives next door. they say marshall a bmw mechanic was a great upbeat guy a neighbor and friend who would often help them out. >> very tragic story. i'm friends with his daughter and there's nothing i can say bad about him. i've never encountered anything bad in my encounters with him. >> reporter: the hairs say marshall had recently become engaged and last week had put up these christmas lights. they say there had been no outward sign any domestic trouble. >> a wonderful thanksgiving. i heard him coming out laughing, talking and everything after thanksgiving. the weekend was quiet. >> reporter: but that quiet

was shattered last night. something went terribly wrong inside that house. authorities have released marshall's name and said his death has been ruled a suicide but because of apparently issues with notifying next of kin they have not identified the two murdered victims except to say that it is a 48-year-old woman and her 28-year-old son. live in hatfield, john rawlins channel6 "action news. jim. >> thank you john. pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane will be in philadelphia tomorrow to announce plans to investigate a pornography e-mail scandal. kane will name a special prosecutor during a news conference at the national constitution center. kane said the team will investigate lewd e-mails exchanged among prosecutors, judges and others inside government. kane is currently fighting criminal changes much her own. a senate committee voted last week to recommend that she be removed from office. two people are there objects of a major search tonight. they're wanted for one holdup and one attempted holdup both while impersonating police

officers. one of the incidents happened in the 1600 block of east passyunk avenue in south philadelphia. that's where we go live to "action news" reporter vernon odom. vernon what are the details here? >> reporter: jim, there are lots of surveillance cameras along this busy block in south philadelphia. but so far detectives have not been able to get ahold of any footage that would help i.d. the suspects who struck before daylight on sunday. >> that's horrible. how did he get a badge? >> reporter: reaction to the robbery here early sunday morning in the 1600 block of east passyunk. a man impersonating a plainclothes policeman flashed a fake badge and proceeded to rifle a man's wallet for $14. police are scouring the neighborhood for surveillance video that could lead to the culprits. police say he was a white male in his mid 30's to early 40's accompanied by a stocky built white female. >> he didn't know until they actually jumped back into their vehicle and pulled off but he realized that the cash

was missing from his wallet so again that is a robbery situation there. and again impersonating a police officer it's acrinol in offense. >> reporter: police believe that same pair struck two hours earlier in the 400 block of jackson butter they got nothing. the targeted victim a 24-year-old female boulder and ran police say. the imposters did not pursue. folks who frequent this normally quiet safe section of south philadelphia in broad daylight are shocked to hear about this crime spree. >> you can never trust any one. i never answer my door whether it's the gas man, water man, fire department, i won't answer unless i know that they're coming. >> reporter: police say there are indeed some ways to verify or ensure that it's a real officer stopping and confronting you. >> we tell people to ask for a marked unit and ask for a uniformed officer and then that will resolve that issue. >> reporter: but jim police concede that method not full proof. they're asking for the

public's help to try to get this pair off the street before someone gets hurt. live in south philadelphia, i'm vernon odom, channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you vernon. we have word tonight that the superintendent of the coatesville area school district says that recent threats to the high school are unfounded. police started looking into phone records and social media sites after hearing rumors about violence. the district is adding security guards as a precaution. officials say they want students to feel safe and to also send a message that violence will not be tolerated. 10 property owners are still without service months after this massive water main break in west philadelphia. 10 million gallons of water flooded cars and basements along the 52nd street back in june. today a city council committee heard from property owners and the philadelphia water department about holdups to claims. councilwoman jannie blackwell is sponsoring a bill to protect property owners affected by the water main

breaks. >> it's so unfair. they lost their cars and the city made them pay their deductibles for everything, their insurance is going up. they've just been totally mistreated for tragedy they didn't create. >> blackwell's bill would require a yearly inspections of pipes more than 100 years old. it would also remove a 2,000-dollar damage cap. a man from ocean county has pleaded guilty to filing false claims for federal and state funds after super storm sandy. 63-year-old gregory wagner faces theft by deception charges. wagner claimed that his storm damaged property in bayville was his primary residence. but he actually lived in toms river. the bayville address was a rental property. wagner will have to pay more than $218,000 in restitution and spend 364 days in jail. police in upper darby are increasing their efforts to keep people safe when they buy and sell items online.

like with craigslist. well today police announced a safe online transaction zone. it will be in the lobby of the township's police station and outside on the curb. operative hours from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. both locations are under constant video surveillance. mayor thomas mccozy and superintendent michael chitwood hope it will add an extra level of safety when dealing with strangers. >> it's a preventive proactive program to keep communities safe not only for the seller but also for the buyer. >> even though it's taking place at police headquarters, officers will not be involved in any of the transactions. it will be awhile before we know the exact facts and figures but today is cyber monday and it's expected to be the biggest online shopping day ever. don't be surprised if cyber shoppers rack up about $3 billion in sales. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic marked cyber monday with a visit to mercer county.
