email and opened fire. >> we located the one pipe bomb and it was actually three bombs. >> reporter: police went to his home and a chase ensued and culminating on a gun battle. the police fired 67 rounds in return. both malik and farook were dead. >> we don't have an indication that there is an immediate threat to anyone in the area or the region. >> today police are combing over their international travel, phone and records. they are not yet calling this an act of terror what is clear they were planning something. inside of their home and car 6,000 rounds of ammunition and 12 pipe bombs and tools to make

many more. >> reporter: now this investigation is unfolding on many fronts and in several places across the city today, one of the concerns that police are probing right now are reports that farook was radicalized at some point, police did not elaborate on that point in the news conference this morning and the rather grim process of identifying the victims is unfolding in that building where the massacre played out. at one time one bullet must have hit the fire sprinkler system drowning the room and flooding the room where the victims were lying and that complicated the efforts to identify the bodies. we'll have more in a press conference later on this evening and we'll pass it on to you right here on "action news." for now live in san bernardino, brian taff, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you brian. well president obama has ordered

all u.s. flags to be flown at half staff in honor of the victims and the white house has lowered its flag and it remains that way until monday. the president offers his thoughts and prayers to all of those that are affected by this tragedy. >> we have to, i think search ourselves as a society to make sure that we can take basic steps that would make it harder not impossible, but harder for individuals to get access to weapons. the president says that authorities are vigilant in getting all the facts in this investigation, now to the local victim we mentioned. before working for the san bernardino department of health, nicholas valsino served as a health inspector for delaware county. john rawlins has more on that. >> reporter: he was apparently
