ladies are wearing sandals today. >> they'll break them back out don't worry. >> adam thank you. of course the spring like weather has been the talk the past few days. this warm spell has made outside the place to be. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic is live in ocean city with more on how people are making sense of this warm weather that doesn't usually go land in hand with the holidays, nora. >> reporter: hi, there, sharrie, we're here on the boardwalk right now which has been a pretty popular spot over the weekend. several people have told us that the warm weather brought so many people down here over the weekend that it felt like the middle of summer but as you can see he no crowds here today. just a few lucky folks enjoying what's left of what you might call our preholiday heat wave. when you're running down the boardwalk on the 14th of december in a pair of shorts we're talk happy holidays. >> it's amazing. we're so lucky he to have this weather. i've lived here about seven years full time and it's never happened before.

roof. this happened about 2 o'clock today. police have not told us how badly that driver was hurt but they're asking other drivers to avoid this area for the next two to three hours this evening. a community gathered at central bucks west today to remember a student who was killed while skateboarding over the weekend. family friends and fellow students held a vigil at war memorial field for 14-year-old steven kim. he was a ninth grader who played quarterback for cb west freshman football too. he was hit by a car and killed saturday night in doylestown. police told us today the driver stopped and likely will not face charges. walter perez was at that vigil today. he'll have more in a live report coming up tonight at 5 o'clock. >> today we learned the name of the teen who was gunned down in the middle of a west philadelphia street and as police hunt for the killers, we're hearing from neighbors who woke up to find blood covering their front steps. clad pradelli he's working this story live for us tonight at police headquarters with

the latest on the investigation. chad. >> reporter: hey, sharrie, homicide investigators tell me they have no leads at this point despite having interviewed several witnesses but there is a manhunt for two people wanted for gunning down two teens. the bullets pierced windows damaged homes and killed 17-year-old deshawn glover who took a bullet to the head. his friend was also shot several times and limped his way to nearby houses looking for shelter. >> like five gun shots, bang, bang, bang, bang, you know. i didn't bother about getting up. i ain't trying to stick my head out there. >> reporter: responding officers say at least two weapons were involved. more than a dozen shots fired. homicide investigators say an argument preceded the gunfire. >> we're hearing those two males got into an argument with an unidentified male and female. the male pulled out a gun and started shooting at the two 17-year-olds. >> reporter: today blood still stained the roads at creighton and wyalusing. some homes and porches had blood as well and many

neighbors awoke to the gruesome discovery but are too fearful to have their faces shown. >> blood on my steps, my porch, my doorknob. he must have knocked on my door, one of the victims must have knocked on my door trying get in or something. >> he was running from the gunfire. he attempted to get into several houses when he collapsed and then the police came and took him to the hospital as well. >> reporter: and police say another woman may have been hit by a graze wound or suffered a graze wound by a stray bullet but police are still trying to confirm that she was indeed a victim. i'm live outside of police headquarters, chad pra pradelli, channel6 "action news." >> working to assure nervous americans president obama outlined progress today in the fight against isis informed a rare gathering outside the white house, the president met at the pentagon with his top national security advisers to visit comes with a week long push to explain his strategy.

>> we are hitting isil harder than ever. coalition aircraft our fighters bombers and drones have been increasing the pace of airstrikes. nearly 9,000 as of today. last month in november we dropped more bombs on isil targets than any other month since this campaign started. >> now republicans were quick to pounce following the president's remarks today. they say his strategy is simply not working. mr. obama is set to attend a briefing at the national counter terrorism center later this week. >> national security was also on the mind of one new jersey representative today. congressman donald norcross was one of two lawmakers in our area today to propose new legislation about guns. and he connected specifically to the fight against terrorism as well as a very painful anniversary. today in cherry hill donald norcross drew a straight line from gun control to national security. as of right now people on terrorist watch lists can still buy guns in america. norcross says that's a loophole that has to close.

and he compared to it giving a drunk driver the keys to a car. >> that's how insane this is. we would never look at a bar owner or a friend who would give his keys to a visibly drunk person, how can we give guns to those on a terrorist wash list. >> reporter: norcross took time to mark the anniversary of the mass shooting at sandy hook. it was three years ago today that adam lanza shot and killed 20 children and six adults. meanwhile in germantown, pennsylvania, state senator art haywood announced his own bill. this one was focused on the violence in our streets. haywood's bill would make anyone who wants to buy a gun in pennsylvania get a license first. first buyers would need to be 18. second, they would have to live in the state and third, they'd have to pass a fingerprint background check. >> and the fourth is that each person will be required to get firearms training just like you get trained to drive a car

which is not necessarily a deadly weapon. >> reporter: law enforcement agencies would be in charge of issuing the license. haywood says this would crackdown on straw purchasessers which is when someone who can pass a backgrounds check buy as gun and then sells it to someone who can't. a bill like haywood's has been passed in 13 other states as well as washington, d.c. a study by the john hospitals kins center for gun policy and research found it reduced the murder rate in those states by 40 percent. brian and sharrie. >> alicia, thank you. it is time now for the "action news" traffic report. time to see how things are moving on a monday. >> all right. very good job. i was checking things out as matt pelman ran back to the traffic studio. >> you need the magic clicker. if you don't have the clicker, things won't go so well but now we have the magic clicker. so let's talk about the traffic on this monday afternoon brian and sharrie. live along 95.

had big problems in delaware county with a crash and the very heavy fog. this afternoon things have cleared out in the skies and the crash we had to start the afternoon in the southbound lanes here by 320 has also cleared out. so still a slow go on the southbound side from ridley park through this point at 320 but we're moving better than we were this morning, that's for sure. also watching a broken down truck this afternoon on the ramp from 95 southbound to the betsy ross bridge there on the northbound side. speeds just in the teens at this hour. can coming away from 95 headed towards the schuylkill expressway, there we go, vine street expressway is locked up on the westbound side. eastbound side just starting to slow heading out toward 95. and winslow township we told you about the crash that's blocking off williamstown road. new brooklyn road an alternate for the next couple hours. let's grab the ipad do the commuter report on this monday afternoon. heavy traffic in cherry hill along 70's eastbound as you head towards 295. just some normal afternoon volume kicking in there. we'll check it again, brian and sharrie, coming up in the next half hour. >> the plan is not even out of breath. >> i was thinking the same thing. all right.

the fate of a baltimore police officer charged in the death of freddie gray is now in the hands of a jury. officer william porter is the first of six officers to stand trial in connection with gray's death. porter is accused of falling to buckle gray into the back of a police van then ignoring gray's requests for a medic. during closing arguments today the prosecution called gray's actions criminally negligent. gray's attorneys claim the prosecution's case was based on speculation and not evidence. >> major league baseball commissioner rob manfred rejected pete rose's appeal to be reinstated into that sport. rose was banned for life because of evidence there he bet on games while he was with the cincinnati reds. rose later admitted to gambling on baseball after years of denying it. in rejecting rose's appeal manfred said rose still bets on the game today and has never sought any treatment for his gambling problem. he says he will allow rose to participate in special events so long as he gets permission

from the commissioner's office in advance. he also says this decision does not affect rose's standing with the hall of fame and right now the former philly and all time hits leader is not eligible to inducted. >> eagles star malcolm jenkins helped make the holidays a little brighter for local families in need. jenkins nonprofit handed out more than 100 special holiday dinner baskets today. inside a turkey and all the trimmings, everything a family needs for their holiday meal. i was actual there will today to help introduce jenkins this afternoon and take part in the holiday give back. afteafterward he told me how important it is to give back to the community. >> just an opportunity, you know, especially for families in need, a lot of times when you need something you feel like there's nothing out there for you. this is just our opportunity to give back and let them know that that people care. >> jenkins wears the number 27 and today 27 special young guests were there in honor of course for this and they were

on hand for a christmas surprise. they were treated to lunch and a big bag full of toys. there were a lot of smiles today in in room. >> yeah, great event. >> absolutely. >> a lot of smiles everywhere because the weather is making everybody happier. >> just a different mood around here. let's check in with meteorologist adam joseph. flu a good mood adam. >> of course. went for a nice run yesterday in this weather but there are a few on my social media site saying bah humbug to this weather. they want it to feel a little more like the holiday and it will in that seven-day forecast. as we look at penn's landing live on sky6 right now very warm. you can see those dry roadways and the flags kind of flapping in a little bit of southerly breeze helping to pup pump in some of the warmth and again the question is where is december? last thursday it was 62 degrees. friday it was 61. records were set in philadelphia. saturday, sunday and today. upper 60's to near 70 degrees and the record today of that 70, it was broken just by 1 degree back in 1881 it was

69 degrees. now, think about this. if you were to jump on a plane and head south i was the way to florida which is about 750 miles, down in florida this is a typical december day here in philadelphia. these are the average high temperatures in the upper 60's to around 73 in orlando so no need to waste money on the plane ticket. it was very florida-like here this weekend. as we look at the numbers 65 still in allentown and reading, 65 in millville. a little cooler because of the southerly wind off that very chilly ocean temperature holding only in the 50's right now at the shore. but we have a system to the west that will be pushing through overnight tonight. so as this rain arrives, temperatures will actually start to bump back up as we get closer to midnight as a little bit of rain passes through. in fact, at 7 o'clock it will be 65 reading, 66 wilmington, 67 in philadelphia, 65 in millville. and right around midnight or just before it, there's the front. maybe the rumble of thunder.

ahead of that front we may actually get to near 69, 70 degrees in a couple of spots and if we hit 66 or stay above that at midnight we will break tuesday's high temperature at midnight so we could have four straight days of records here in philadelphia. then my 5 o'clock tuesday morning everything starts to push away. we dry out. and by 10 o'clock, you see that sunshine to work with temperatures in the 50's. tomorrow afternoon even with a northwesterly wind and winds to near 35 miles per hour we're going to stay in the 60's across much of the area tomorrow. your four day at 4:00 forecast it is cool tomorrow but still very mild and windy at 63 and on wednesday, mostly sunny. we step it down to 57 degrees and then periods of rain as we're back to 60 here on thursday. behind that it turns brisk and cooler, a lot of clouds, maybe a morning quick shower friday at 51 degrees and if you want it to be below normal and wind chills, we've got something for you coming up in that

>> ♪ >> philadelphia mayor elect jim kenney filled another one of the top spots in his administration today. he appointed philadelphia's next city solicitor. he grew up in zaire which is now called the congo. but he came to america in 1983 and graduated from northeast high school before ling to harvard and then going on to harvard law. >> we are still working to learn the name of the driver who died this morning in a crash on i-95 in delaware county. the two car crash happened around 3:30 a.m. in tinicum township near philadelphia international airport. you can see how foggy was during that time but police say they're still not sure how much the weather actually played a role in the crash. police have not told us if anyone else was injured in the wreck. police in powelton are looking for the man who robbed someone in the elevator of an office building on holden street. they gave us video of the

crime. this happened back on november 20th. you can see the man, he blocks the victim's way when he tries to get out of the elevator on the eighth floor. that led to a struggle. the suspect took more than $800 and used the fire escape to get away. police want anyone with information to give them a call. grammy winner adele is going on a world tour to promote her new album and today we learned it will include a stop in philadelphia. adele will say hello to fans at the wells fargo center on september 9th and 10th. tickets go on sale this thursday at 10:00 a.m. it is adele's first show ever at the arena. her new album, 25, has set global sales records and went straight to number one in more than 100 countries. well, it sounded a lot like christmas today inside the delaware county courthous courthouse. >> ♪ awesome. students from media elementary sang a selection of christmas

december. >> but we're going to begin at 4:30 with what you can call weather three-peat. for the third day in a row cities have set record highs. from dandily ons in drexel hill to cherry below blossoms in center city temperatures climbing past 70 may be confusing mother nature but for most of us spring fling is-likely the cat's meow. for more on how long this weather will still around adam joseph standing by at the big board. >> some would say this is perfect. sorry. just will to continue that. as we take a look at high temperatures so far, everywhere along the eastern seaboard at 70 degrees or better. in fact if you take a look at this map as a whole even into the tennessee valley near 70 degrees on this december day as southerly winds are taking over. as we take a look at some of the records that we hit today, philadelphia breaking the old record set back in 1881 by 1

degree. smashing it in the lehigh valley by 8 degrees. trenton a degree above its old record. smashing in it wilmington at 69 degrees and atlantic city so far tying recor record high f 65. as we take a look at the month of december this is 14 days now and every day in the red meaning temperatures above normal every single day and so far we are running almost 11 degrees above normal as we are halfway through the month and this coming off the second warmest november in philadelphia's history. as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan, you can see a spin near chicago. this is low pressure that is working up into eastern canada so it's pulling all that warmth in but there is a cold front that's going to be passing through and that cold front is going to bring a round of rain that you can see here in the central part of pennsylvania, maybe even a rumble of thunder and we're looking at about a quarter of an inch of rain during the evening and overnight hours. but there is a cool down for those winter weather lovers. we'll let you know how long it lasts, how cold it gets coming

reginald bell attacked 47-year-old william vaughn back on september 24th. vaughn was killed shortly after walking his girlfriend to the bus stop near broad and arch streets. bell has been charged with murder and possession of an instrument of crime. >> now to a follow-up to a story we first told you about right here back in october. lawmakers in new jersey are now considering a bill that would allow residents whose appearance has been changed by illness or its treatment to keep using their driver's license with pretreatment pictures. the bill follows this neptune city woman's complaints that the motor vehicle commission was forcing her to get a new license after she lost her hair due to chemotherapy. a legislative committee approved the bill today but so far no date is set for a vote by the full assembly. >> turning now to the new rules for one of the hottest presents of the holiday season, drones. for more on what you need to know if you're giving or receiving one, we turn to "action news" sarah bloomquis

bloomquist. she's covering the story for us live in cherry hill. sarah. >> reporter: sharrie, you'll find those drones for sale everywhere now. here at best buy and many other retailers, they are considered a hot holiday gift but there are serious safety concerns. we knew the federal government was working on a way to register all those drones. today we learn the specifics and online registration begins on monday. drones are a hot ticket item this holiday season. >> they're kind of expensive but my son, my eight-year-old aiden he's crazy about those things. >> reporter: but the sheer number has pilots and government officials worried. >> we almost got lit by a drone just to let you know up here just about 20 feet. >> reporter: today the u.s. government detailed how a new drone registration process will work. for so-called lobbyists. operators were drones between 250 grams and 55 pounds must register the unmanned aircraft online. those purchased before december 21st must register by

february 19. drones purchased after december 21st must be registered before the first outdoor flight. scott philly is a local commercial drone operator. its owner welcomes the regulations. >> i think it's a good idea. it's one way, one small way to try and keep track of the drones, try and reel in people from being completely reckless and irresponsible. >> reporter: for the first 30 days registration will be free. after that, registration will be five dollars. each operator will get a certificate and registration number valid for three years which they must affix to the drone they fly. near cherry hill people out shopping questioned whether drone owners will comply although most believe it's a good idea. >> they're vehicles. you need an end number on the back of your airplane, right, you need have certain maintenance -- i mean you're flying over populated areas. >> i think it's a good idea to have them registered. it could affect the air space and every. >> it's about safety so i do think it's a good idea.

if you have one and you mean no harm with it why not register it. >> reporter: now, there's no limit on the number of drones per registered operator. you must be at least 13 years old to register. so parents will need to register and monitor, supervise their children. there could be penalties if you don't do this but it's still unclear exactly what those penalties might be. live in cherry hill, i'm sarah bloomquist, channel6 "action news. >> all right, sarah, thank you. new jersey officials kicked off their season of service today. the action cam was in bordentown burlington county where top state officials helped donate christmas trees to military families. lieutenant governor kim guadagno was on hand. volunteer efforts by the new jersey officials marks the fifth straight season of service. well, it's a huge honor for a local heart transplant recipients. he was picked to be a part of the rose bowl parade. monica malpass live in our news room with the details on this one today. hi, monica. >> hi, brian.

has a lot of people talking especially those who speak hebrew. let's just say it's a pretty funny not funny kind of editing oops. this is the ad lord and taylor took out in last sunday's new york times t it says happy hanukkah. wishing you a year of light and love with the words happy hanukkah written above in it hebrew. well, that's at least what 33 thought it said. you see there is just a teeniest little misspelling in the hebrew so apparently it reads the tag of her earlobe that died. copy editing fail but what they meant to say was happy hanukkah. so, we'll take the intention there. there's a tongue in cheek blog going viral for another holiday season and it's poking fun at the way advertisers are marketing gifts for women in women's magazines. author mary laura fill pot writes a blog i miss when you blink and people are sharing

her blog called how to be a lady person at the holidays. 10 important tips. again, like crazy people love this one and to be a girl in december she jokes stay cozy wear a baby she laughs if you play your cards right your sensitive goateed guy will reward you with a pair of socks made out of his extra sweater sleeves. if you're truly hot you won't get cold joking wear a coat over your party outfit just drag it along behind you in the snow and use the oil on your legs to fuel warm thoughts. we're not actually sure what that was an ad for but now to this one. do a sports thing, that's funny she laughs. be bold, have short hair like this woman and do something sports see while also wearing your purse as an under garment. and finally, no pants. what? just a turtleneck on a breezy day. ignore the voice of reason. this joke is just as funny as it is impractical.

>> let's do it. meteorologist adam joseph joining us now looking at the seven-day forecast and there is at least, at least. >> at least one. >> hint. >> one hint of winter day in there. maybe two if you are looking at very, very closely, yeah, not much in the way of cold as we go into the next week. as we look right now at the action cam which is on the temple university campus, i know the leaves came down a little late this year but shouldn't they have all been picked up by now? you would think, wouldn't you? a big pile of levers although the kids can still go out and have fun and jump in and make a mess and kind of push them all away again. as we look at double scan live radar around the region, again, despite that we have the cloud cover today, extremely warm with record-high temperatures being broken across pretty much the entire delaware valley, even the lehigh valley and now we're starting to see a few sprinkles off to the west and there will be some brief hits of rain as we go through the evening and overnight hours and even a rumble of thunder

as a cold front passes through. there's the record high of 70 breaking the old record of 69 set back in 1881. it's 134 years that it hasn't been this warm and now the sun setting a minute later than it did yesterday so that's going to start to push a little bit closer towards that 5 o'clock hour over the next month. as we look at the present numbers, it's cooler at the shore because of a southerly wind pushing off of that ocean at 53 degrees. but inland we are still in the mid and the upper 60's, even the poconos 58 degrees in fact the poconos the month so far 12 degrees above normal. as we look at satellite and radar, here comes the rain with the front in the ohio valley. behind that winds will start to howl. you'll see the wrapping nature of low pressure near chicago. that's going to bring somewhat cooler air in but still above average tuesday, wednesday and beyond. 7 o'clock tonight, that's when we start to see some of the rain come through but it's very broken in nature. by midnight tonight we could be still at 68. if we are, we're going to
