"action news" reporter walter perez is live outside of cb west in doylestown with the story. walter. >> reporter: well, rick as you can imagine it was a very, very emotional day here in doylestown as this community came together to remember a young man who had just 14 years on this earth and made a quite an impact. steve's sister natalie says to know her little brother was to love him. >> he was a great person. possibly the best person i've ever met in my entire life and i hope i can be more like he was. >> reporter: a few hours ago, hundreds of students and faculty from central bucks west high school and lenape middle school gathered at war memorial field in doylestown to honor the memory of the freshman football star. the 14-year-old died late saturday night. he was riding a skateboard across the intersection of

southeast ton road and turk road when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. those closest to steven are still having a hard time believing that he's gone. >> i wanted it to be like fake but later in the night i broke down and i just -- it was hard on me and it's going to be hard to be happy for awhile. >> reporter: kim a ninth grader at lenape middle school was the quarterback and captain of the central bucks west freshman football team. and so in his honor, the entire team walked out with steven's family in a show of support before today's vigil. people say the outgoing teen will be remembered by many as a great athlete but he'll be remembered by everyone as a great student, classmate and friend. >> i want to remember how strong he was and how great of a kid law and how much everyone loved him and how much he impacted everyone's life and i wish you could see how much he meant to everyone. >> reporter: it's belowd he couldn't slow down his

skateboard fast enough before entering that intersection. the driver did stop at the scene. while toxicology results are pending it's believed this was a tragic accident and no charges are expected. reporting live from doylestown, walter perez channel6 "action news." >> all right, walter, thank you. investigators say charges are unlikely for the mother of two kids carjacked in magnolia camden county. police say she left her children in her running car outside of a liquor store last saturday night and they say surveillance video shows 38-year-old chris dumas walk across the street then jump into the driver's seater and take off. he drove a short distance then crashed into another car. the stolen vehicle flipped but luckily the children eight and 10 years old suffered only minor injuries. dumas remains behind bars. police are looking for the man who robbed someone in the elevator of an office building in the powelton section of philadelphia. happened at 4445 holden street back on november 20, just before 6:00 p.m. you can see the man blocks the

victim's way when he tries to get out of the elevator on the eighth floor. and there led to a struggle right here. the suspect took just over $800 then used the fire escape to get away. police want anyone with information to give them a call. >> you are next. that was the message president barack obama sent today to leaders of the islamic state group. mr. obama addressed the nation after a meeting with national security advisers at the pentagon. he says the u.s.-led coalition is making progress against isis in both iraq and syria and the president said those in charges of the extremist group cannot hide. >> we are hitting isil harder than ever. coalition aircraft our fighters bombers and drones have been increasing the pace of airstrikes. nearly 9,000 as of today. last month in november we dropped more bombs on isil targets than any other month since this campaign started. >> president obama is set to attend a briefing at the national counter terrorism center later this week. and there will be much more on president obama's

68 degrees, that shatters the old record of 60. broke it by 8 degrees. reading a new record. wilmington a record high of 69. dover hit 72 degrees. atlantic city airport 65. that ties the record high. the poconos not making snow at the ski resorts in the poconos, a record tying high of 58 degrees today. so, this continues the trend. we're coming off our second warmest november on record and the first 14 days of december every single day above normal temperatures so far averaging close to 11 degrees above normal. temperatures will begin to stepdown as we head through the week and part of the reason why, double scan live showing this rain ahead of a cold front that will sweep through in the overnight hours. so, if you are heading out you can see that rain is beginning to move in to our western suburbs so you want to grab an umbrella and we're looking at the first half of the evening will be wet. generally light rain, not a lot of rain, about a quarter inch. can't rule out the possibility of a rumble of thunder. it will all be out of here in

stained the roadway at wyalusing and creighton. neighbors in this crime ridden neighborhood didn't want to say much but they're well aware of the gunfire there killed 17-year-old deash lawn owe sean glover and injured his 17-year-old friend. >> it was like five gun shots. bang, bang, bang, you know. i didn't bother about getting up. i ain't trying to stick my head out there. >> reporter: it was 10:30 last night when the whizzing bullets hit cars homes and the two teens. >> we're hearing those two males got into an argument with an unidentified male and female. the male pulled out a gun and started shooting at the teens. the teen who survived looked under nearby porches looking for a safe haven. one neighbor took him in until police arrived and he was transported to a local hospital. neighbors awoke to droplets of blood on their properties and news of another young life lost in the streets of philadelphia. this man spoke to us but didn't want his face shown. >> blood on my steps, my porch, my doorknob.

>> surveillance video out of oklahoma shows a man's fit of rage that ended with a pickup truck inside of a hotel lobby. police have not released a motive but video shows john parsley getting into the truck then driving into the front office of a comfort inn. two workers at the desk narrowly escaped from the truck's path. they're both okay. the driver was jailed shortly after the incident. a local heart transplant recipient has been picked for a big honor. mark meade of princeton junction will ride on the donate life float at the 2016 rose parade in pasadena california. today hahnemann university hospital and seconds chance the harder recipient support group gave him a festive sendoff. meade was being kept along life on machines when he received his new heart back in 2008. but he says he never gave up. >> the fact of the matter is we were anxious and excited for it to happen. i wanted to live. i wanted to see ou our grandchildren grow up. >> since the transplant meade volunteers with the gift of

researchers in quebec followed nearly 150,000 moms and babies for 10 years. they found a significantly higher risk for autism when women used an ssri during the second or third trimester. still the doctors recognize this could be due to other factors and in some cases the harm of depression during pregnancy can be riskierer than medication. the study is published in jala pediatrics. researchers say because antidepressants are so widely used we need to learn more about this potential risk. and in much lighter news today, we he have seen some crazy workouts but one in new york city is getting a lot of attention especially from star wars fans. >> why do you think i have my strike at an angle like this? >> well, this is jedi fitness. every thursday star wars fans get a unique workout. some while in character. they practice their light sabre skills. maybe not up to the par of the

until saturday. double scan live showing we have some light showers generally south and east of philadelphia right now and then up to the north and west, this is where we have some heavier showers in parts of berks county, heading towards kutztown, 222 to the east and lehigh valley and that's ahead of a cold front that will drop temperatures somewhat tomorrow but we'll still be in the 60's and we have been above 60 degrees since thursday. thursday 62, friday 61, over the weekend record highs 69 degrees on saturday, yesterday driving the convertible with the top down, 71 degrees. today's high 70. breaking a record set back in 1881. so, to put this in perspective philadelphia the high 70 degrees today. if you take a plane and you fly 750 miles south, head to florida, 70-degree weather is typical for orlando and tampa this time of the year. so basically we're getting florida type weather here in

pennsylvania in early december but things will be changing. right now 68 degrees in philadelphia, still very warm. allentown and reading 65. millville 65. wilmington 66. and trenton 67 degrees. satellite6 along with action radar showing this system that is heading our way. the actual center of that storm like so many this fall is heading up towards canada. so that means we don't get the cold air. we really just get the leftovers from a cold front moving through and that will bring us some showers this evening, maybe a rumble of thunder as it rolls through and then drop temperatures somewhat. at 7:30 take an umbrella if you're heading out, 66 degrees with this rounds of rain right over the i-95 corridor. look at what happens right before midnight. temperatures spike ahead of that front, 68 degrees. if we hit that, that would mean tomorrow's new record high is set at midnight and then temperatures do begin to drop as we head towards the morning at 5 o'clock in the 50's with a return of sunshine

officers accused in the killing of freddie gray. during closing arguments today jurors heard from both sides in the death of the 25-year-old suspect who died of injuries in the back of a police van last april. now, defense attorneys say the case is based on speculation of when gray was injured. but prosecutors say officer william porter did not buckle gray up in a seat belt and did not call doctors even after gray asked. porter could get 25 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter and world news tonight with david muir will have the latest on the first trial of the six baltimore officers accused in the death of gray as well as president obama's strategy against isis. you can watch all of that following "action news at 6:00. >> a delaware man is formally charged with first degree murder in the death of his estranged wife and her mother this weekend. this is 66-year-old gilbert rochester. state police say the smyrna man stabbed his 56-year-old estranged wife mary lane and her 80-year-old mother louise carol to death yesterday

morning. investigators believe rochester was waiting outside of the carol's home on hawk eye branch road to attack them when they left for church. he's now being held without bail. from our delaware news room still not clear what sparked a fire at the harbor house apartment complex in claymont early this morning. smoke and flames forced 20 people out o out into the parkig lot. residents didn't realize the situation until police officers were knocking on their door. >> we just heard the fire alarm going off in the building and unfortunately the residents have come to ignore fire alarms around here because there are so many false alarms. >> investigators say it will cost about $50,000 to fix the damage. >> a driver was seriously injured in a crash along a busy stretch of highway in winslow township new jersey this afternoon. chopper6 was over the scene in the 200 block of williamstown road. as you can see a car lost control and flipped over and

>> anticipation has been building for months for star wars fans. the seventh installment of the star wars franchise called "the force awakens" will be released this friday but for a lucky few their wait ends tonight. that's right. hollywood is gearing up for what could be one of the biggest film premiers in history. >> and because of that, three movie theaters in los angeles will show star wars the force aikens and will screen the movie he this evening. >> that's right. take a look at the massive tent that is already up along hollywood boulevard where the stars will walk the red carpet outside of the chinese theater tonight. fans have been camping out some of them for a week to get the best spot and maybe get their lands on some tickets. the first star wars film by the way premiered here at the chinese theater back in 1977 and was so much buzz around the film, even the actors are getting caught up in all the excitement. the plot is largely a secret

you can seep the flashing lights from the approaching fire units to put out the car that was on fire. no word of any injuries. but traffic as you can tell is at a standstill now. again, this is the blue route northbound just north of the villanova exit approaching the schuylkill expressway. we'll keep an eye on the situation and bring you more information as it becomes available but a car fire there on the blue route heading north. >> all right, time to talk to adam about accuweather and we've had a nice pattern here. we're about switch things up a bit. >> we'll break those temperatures down a bit as we go through the rest of the week. some rain coming through so the roadway is on the wet side. as we look at double scan live radar dealing with light rain philadelphia down to the south and a little band of heavier rain from reading to lancaster and now heading towards baltimore and washington. as we close into center city philadelphia again you see this area of green with some steady light showers developing ahead of a cold front. that will bring those temperatures back to near or below normal by the end of the week and we're starting to see a little yellow there in eastern lancaster county. that is a little band of

heavier rain and also dealing with some heavier rain up towards the lehigh valley as you head north of allentown and the lehigh tunnel, really pushing through fairly quickly so you get a little burst of heavy rain at times and then it kind of light tense up and we can expect that through at least the midnight hour tonight. but another record fell in philadelphia. today's high 70 degrees, 25 degrees above average. breaking a record that was held for 134 years back in 1881. it was 69 degrees. 64 right now in the lehigh valley, 67 in trenton, wilmington down to 59 now, dover 64 with some of that rain but these temperatures will temporarily drop with the rain but ahead of a front near midnight temperatures will jump back up. here as we look at satellite and radar, one band of rain here now entering the western suburbs and there will be a seconds one with the can cold front to come through right around the midnight hour. that's near pittsburgh right now but the center of the low is spinning north and east of chicago keeping all of that
