it looked worse than that. the police say they have work to do, the same church fell victim to another fire two weeks ago. wednesday night and the big story on "action news" news is the house of god coming under attack by fire. the blaze at pine street did injure one firefighter. life at the scene tonight is "action news" reporter dann cuellar. dann, what is the situation there now? >> jim, the f.b.i. and agents from the alcohol, tobacco and firearms have been brought in to assist city and state investigators to cause the cause of the fire, a devastating fire that finished what the first fire did not. fire officials say 7:00 the devastating fire engulfed the new jerusalem missionary baptist church on north pine. >> within several minutes the building was engulfed on the firefighter's arrival. >> there was little they could do to save the building of the

focus was keeping it from spreading to nearby homes. six adjacent homes damaged. and one firefighter injured released from the hospital. the cause of the fire not determined. two weeks ago a fire broke out in the basement of the church and the cause of that fire still unknown. >> would you say that fire was suspicious? >> i can't comment on that right now. >> why are you calling the a.t.f. in. >> because it is a church fire. >> they say the federal agent are brought in when it is a church fire to determine if it is a hate crime. and mary said her father, the late reverend built the church in the 60's. >> i am really broken-harded because my dad built that church and now it's gone. >> the current reverend did not speak with us, but they were devastated thinking they could save it after the first fire. >> but to come and see these people's homes are messed up and

and in custody. the family says he does not have access to firearms. and a deadly shooting in the 4600 block of kingsessing. a man shot multiple times at 7:30 tonight. arriving police officers rushed him to the hospital but doctors could not save him. police are also working a case in the overbrook session of the city where an 82-year-old man was found dead inside of his home. they said the victim had stab wounds to his face and the back ever his head. detectives are questioning the man's 29-year-old son who also lives in the home on the 5700 block of woodbine avenue. philadelphia police are probing the death of a 10-month-old girl at a daycare center today. detectives are interviewing workers at the sister's childcare center in the 3500 of germantown avenue in north philadelphia. parents came to pick up their children after hearing the news.

one witness told "action news" she saw a mom emerge from the center holding what appeared to be a lifeless baby. the baby was pronounced dead at temple university hospital. the authorities confirmed that the body found in a vacant home at the jersey shore monday was that of 15-year-old nicole angstadt. and that the teenager was a murder victim. cape may county prosecutors don't believe the killing was random. detectives uncovered other crimes against the victim and have arrested 32-year-old charles mosley of rio grande for allegedly having a sexual relationship with the underage girl. however, he has not been charged in her death. the first trial of a police officer in the death of freddie gray in baltimore has ended in a hung jury. the mistrial saw a small group of protesters say -- take to the street but no violence. and the full story from monica malpass at the big board. >> a handful of protesters and

demonstrators, and at least one arrest today. but nothing like the violence that rocked baltimore, maryland last april for weeks after freddie gray's death. still, some residents say they will not be silent about their anger. >> "no justice, no peace." >> going to have five more mistrials. this sets the tone for the other trials. we can no longer sand by and let the police kill unarmed black men. >> tensions high outside of the courthouse in baltimore. the sheriff deputies were in the building until officer william porter could leave safely. >> immediately disperse. if you do not do so, you will be arrested. >> in fact one man was arrested. elsewhere the police lined up in a wall of security to prevent any violence. but there were no destructive mobs or vandalism or fires like those who rocked the city for

week last spring. 25-year-old gray died of spinal injuries in police custody in april. six officers are charged in the death. officer porter faced four charges, including manslaughter for not buckling up the suspect or calling the doctors when he allegedly asked for help. >> we are confident that they are going to retrial the case. >> prosecutors asking for the a retrial after the jury could not decide on guilt or innocence and they asked them to appear in administrative court tomorrow. and the loss there affect trial and he will be offered immunity if he tests against the others. and gray's parents are urging people to be peaceful. >> there will be another trial of the officer and we will await the verdict of the jury. >> we are here to serve as peacekeepers.

>> this man is scheduled to face trying next. jim? >> thank you, monica. the philadelphia cabdrivers among the dozens of drivers protesting in cities today. they were calling for the city to shutdown the popular uber x driving service. the cabdrivers along with uber black say uber x drivers are not held to the same standards. >> we can't advertise in our taxi to make a couple of extra dollars. we can't do a lot of things in our taxis to increase our earnings because of park authority's regulations. meanwhile they are not regulating uber and uber x and lyft. >> they say the unregulated drivers are putting public safety at risk. and uber release add statement quoting the parking authority's outdated rules. the end of an era, the federal reserve raised interest

rates the first time in nine years. while borrowing will be a little more expensive, at least the fed is showing confidence in the u.s. economy. what does this mean to you specifically? in pennsylvania is $4600 and higher in delaware $5200, and the most in new jersey with $5500. several banks already announced to customers that rates will increase by the end of the week. >> it is a necessary evil. it has to happen when an economy is starting to come back. >> financial experts say it will take a little longer to see the drastic changes in rates for car loans and mortgages. >> you think it will impact it? >> i am sure it will be impacting business. >> the realtor is already thinking long-term. >> what does that mean for your clients looking for homes? >> probably holding back and not rushing into making a decision. deciding to buy for less price. >> there is a silver lining. higher rates for those saving means a bigger return on the money you already have in the bank. not all banks were quick to

security has put into effect a new terror alert status called the bulletin category. it will be in effect until june 16 of next year. this is the first change since that color-coded system was replaced in 2011. the security chief jay johnson says there is no specific threat against the country but the government remains concerned about terrorist-inspired extremists. with the mass shootings on everybody's mind the white house announced that president obama will go to san bernardino on friday. obama will meet with the families of the victims on his way to hawaii for vacation. meanwhile, the f.b.i. says farook and malik communicated privately about jihad before they were married, but no evidence they posted publicly on social media. issue that joe biden was pushing for in the wake of his son's death. bo biden died of brain cancer in may. and joe biden said he would spend his year pushing for cancer research and development instead of devoting time running for democratic nomination for president. he worked for lawmakers to secure $200 million for what is called precision medicine. a protectional break-through which customizes treatment to the individual patients. some 5th and 6th graders with a new tool to jump start their education. united healthcare donated 10 laptop computers to the after school program. the pec supports women and children in need. this donation is one of several die united health care to help empower families in under-served communities. almost steady. and futuretracker showing around 8:00 we will see some showers again mainly south of philadelphia. then as we head towards lunchtime, this is when the rain really blossoms, especially along the i-95 corridor and areas to the east. it is a fast-moving system. by 3:00 the steady rain along the coast. and by 8:00 at night lots of clouds with a little bit of lingering drizzle. this is really a quick hit of rain. mild for december with temperatures in the 60's. usually this time of year we have a cold rain if we have rain. heaviest rain between 10:00 in the morning and 5:00 in the evening along the coast. and how much rain you get really depends in your location. all about location. north and west of the i-95 corridor about a quarter inch to three-quarters of an inch. and south of i-95 three-quarters to an inch along the coast where we will see the heaviest rain. and the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast a rainy day,
