tonight. it will set up an unsettled weather pattern, tuesday through christmas eve. 45 is the high, with the slight breeze out of the southwest it will like 39 to 42. when i come back we'll talk about the warmup in the forecast, and several chances of rain. new computer nsks -- information came in, earlier we were forecasting 72 degrees on christmas eve. wait until you see what we're forecasting now. >> a fiery crash in the holmesburg section of philadelphia. it took the lives of three women. >> it could be several hours until the scene of the accident is cleared. trish hartman has been at the scene all morning and joins us again live and that stretch of road has been closed all morning long. >> reporter: that's right, nydia, police and crews are working on torresdale avenue. you can take a look at what's going on behind me.

utility crews are working to restore cable and power to the neighborhood. you can see one of the burned up tractor-trailers. and haz/mat crews are here, as well. all morning long people are coming down when they learned about what happened. >> i can't believe they got airborne. they must have been flying. >> reporter: people who live in holmesburg say they see cars speeding down torresdale avenue all the time. they were shocked to learn that the boom they heard was a car bursting into flames. this video shows the flames and the explosion of a car hitting a tractor-trailer filled with p.s. sides. after it crossed rhawn street it spun out of control and hit the truck. flames erupted engulfing the car and spreading to the second tractor-trailer. >> a witness said you could

hear the people screaming inside the car. he attempted to render aid, but couldn't get to the people due to the flames. >> reporter: neighbors were sad to learn about the violent crash saying it's not unusual to see tractor trailers parked along torresdale avenue. >> they always park there. >> reporter: these two emts live in holmesburg and finishing up their shift when they came to see the wreckage. >> there's a lot of accidents up here. people get airborne if you're flying. >> it's scary, it's scary. people don't take it seriously. >> reporter: now, the three victims have not been identified, police expect this stretch of torresdale avenue to be closed for much of the afternoon. live in northeast philadelphia, trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> thanks, trish. a 73-year-old man walking home was killed in the 700 block of byberry road overnight. police say a 20-year-old driver

hit the man and another car. the man was rushed to the hospital, but dialed. both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. >> governor tom wolf isn't sure what is expect following a stinging defeat in the house. the house defeated a bill to revamp pensions for teachers and state workers. a majority of republicans voted against it. some schools say they won't reopen after the holiday break. layoffs in state government may be coming, as well. three democratic candidates each had their moments in last night's debate. bernie sanders clinton and o'malley discussed a wide range of mission. >> passed comprehensive gun safety legislation with a ban on assault weapons. >> i worried greatly that the

a wilmington congregation that lost its church in the fire gathered together today returning to the neighborhood that it was forced to leave. the congregation prayed. flames destroyed the church on pine street on wednesday night. it was the second fire in two weeks. federal investigators are searching for the cause. >> christmas is five days away and shoppers are well aware of the looming deadline. the cherry hill mall was packed with everybody getting their final christmas gifts. shoppers we talked to are doing their best to help retailers end the year in black. >> if you don't have patience you'll lose your mind. >> we didn't want to ship everything so we're last minute shopping for everybody. >> now, online shopping has put a dent in business at malls and other stores, but a recent survey found store sales are up 2%.

we get into tomorrow, tuesday and wednesday they will shift in a southerly direction. that will pump the temperatures up as we get into the midweek time frame. windchills, 33 in allentown. philadelphia, 36. mill millville, 38. if you're doing the last-minute christmas shopping you'll need the heavier coat or hat and gloves to keep you warm. the warmer air is cutting through chitown and the carolinas and the warm weather is charging east over the next few days. it is in advance of a system coming off the rockies. that's the warm front that will punch through monday afternoon. underneath that warm front, the numbers sky rocket as we get into wednesday and thursday. so surface maps show the front crossing new england by the time we get into monday afternoon. there's the winds shifting out of the south/southwest.

this guy right here, normally this time of the year, these highs bring the cold arctic shots down from canada. when they get situated off the coast of the carolinas like this it's a clockwise flow acts as a bermuda high. from tampa to maine, the temperatures are mild for most of the week. future tracker later today we're dealing with the chill from canada. reading, 34. allentown, 34. philadelphia, trenton, wilmington, all feeling like 30. by 5:00 p.m., millville, 35. if you're heading to lincoln financial field in time for the eagles cardinals game the numbers drop off a little bit. again, these are windchills feeling like the upper 20s along the i-95 corridor. low 30s north and west. the reason why they are north and west, the winds subside across the north an western suburbs. feeling a breeze across the heart of the viewing area. mostly sunny conditions, seasonable. the 42 in the lehigh valley will feel like the mid 30s.

it's the warmest temperature ever recorded in philadelphia. and only 6 degrees shy of 80. it's insane. >> a community is sad and outraged after a beloved deer was poached in a public park. it was a common sight to hikers and joggers. a hiker stopped to take a picture, a hunter killed him with a cross bow. >> it's like cecil the lion. this deer was a pet for people in the area who knew him. >> the hunter fled, but wisconsin wildlife officials tracked him down and cited him with $1,000 fine. him neighbors say they will miss him, but there are so many pictures to remember him by.

>> reporter: the winds make it feel cooler than it is. come tomorrow the temperatures are in the 50s, after that it's a blow torch of a forecast. you'll see that in the seven day in a moment. if you're not a snow lover or winter weather fan, this is the month for you. the first 19 days of december, only one has featured temperatures below seasonal averages. that was yesterday, the 19th. every other day was above average. you take all the highs and lows and average them out. we're 11.2 degrees above average. the record prior to this year was 7 degrees above average. we're not only seeing a new record we're smashing the old record. starting tomorrow the numbers moderate. 42 in buena. gandys beach 40. ewing checking in at 44. satellite and radar, we'll keep it clear for most of the afternoon if you look toward the

left-hand side of the screen, a couple of clouds may try to sneak in here late in the day. that will set up a partly cloudy sky tonight and mostly cloudy conditions tomorrow and tuesday. sunny skies and chilly that's the call from accuweather this afternoon. 45 degrees is the forecasted high. we're talking 70s in the seven-day forecast. we'll look at that coming up in ten minutes. >> thanks, chris. back to a developing story from northeast philadelphia three people are dead after their car crashed into a tractor-trailer. all three vehicles went up in flames and created a haz/mat situation. trish hartman has been on the scene all morning long. trish what's the latest? >> reporter: it's been an upsetting scene at torresdale and rhawn street. police are on scene. the car was taken from the scene, but the burned up tractor trailers are here. utility crews are working to restore power and cable. haz/mat is working here, as well. viewer video sent into us early

this morning, shows the vehicles engulfed in flames and you can hear the explosion. [popping sound]. >> this happened around 2:45 a.m. a black camero driving northbound on torresdale avenue, witnesses say it was speeding lost control crossing rhawn street and crashed into a parked tractor-trailer, the car and truck burst into flames, the fire spread to another parked tractor-trailer. this was what was left of the vehicle. all three people in the car died. plenty of neighbors came back to the scene to check it out today. as we token to -- we spoke to a woman who was a friend of one of the victims. >> they was an awesome person all around fun, always there for you, no matter what she was going through. i think she would the worst luck, but she always had a smile

on her face. >> torresdale avenue is closed along the stretch near rhawn street. it will be closed for most of the day while the cleanup continues. no word on the identity of the victims. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. we have new information this noon on a suspicious device found on an air france jet. an explosive was not found that forced the plane to land in kenya. the device found in a restroom looked like a cardboard box with a stopwatch taped to it. the boeing had taken off an island bound for paris. the government is worried about a major security breach at the juniper networks computer company used by the defense and treasury and big companies.

because of the sophistication of the hack, investigators think a foreign government is behind it. police are investigating the suspicious death of a young man at a university berkeley fraternity house. officers were called to the house where they found the man in his 20s. he was pronounced at the scene. a los angeles police officer shot and killed a man in the emergency department at the harvard ucla medical center. the man was in for minor injuries suffered during an arrest. he tried to grab an officer's gun, so one officer fired. federal officials are concerned about gun thefts in tampa, florida. they are being stolen from unlocked cars. 375 guns were stolen compared to 285 for all of last year.

one stolen gun was used by a 17-year-old boy in an armed robbery last week. police want gun owners to take them inside and lock them up. >> the family of the san bernadino killers are removing items from the couple's house. they arrived at his town hall in a uniformity-hall truck. investigators say they found an arsenal of amunition and homemade bombs after the attack. atlantic city has until tomorrow to pay $62.5 million to the borgata. it owes the most successful casino $148 million. the 62.5 million is the first installment. br gotta has -- borgata has won several tax appeals over several years. 89 mayor said the city is in negotiations with borgata. a new jersey state trooper killed in a crash last week will

be laid to rest on wednesday. services for trooper eli mccarson will be held at rowan university. he was killed when his car slammed into a utility pole responding to a call in salem county. he was 0 years old and recently married. a man from felton delaware, can't seem to stay out of trouble. delaware police say they arrested joseph graden for breaking into vehicles. after he was arraigned and released he was caught rummaging through another car parked at the police station. he faces a list of additional charges. opening weekend box office with star wars the force awakens has rocketed the movie into a financial galaxy far, far away. they raked in an estimate

$238 million. audiences gave the star wars an a grade. disney produced the force awakens and owns 6abc. you can imagine how angry hundreds of fans were when the projector failed in the middle of show. they were up in arms, the projector was started 16 or 20 minutes ahead of where it stopped. the theaters gave everyone full refunds and vouchers to come back. >> santa made an early visit to dozens of kids in camden, new jersey. with police officers by his side santa stopped by dozens of homes to insure they will have a great chris mools. police were on -- great christmas. the police were on hand because they were the sponsor. local community groups helped find the children santa visited. >> smog returns to dangerous

in beijing smog has climbed back into the unhealthy range. they are forcing people to stop using their cars. chinese officials triggered a red alert after the latest readings of the smallest deadly airborne particles rose. it's blamed on coal burning power plants. >> time for accuweather you have incredible news. >> reporter: for you, not for me. i like the snow and the cold. let's get you outside, if you're a big fan of warm weather, you

will enjoy the forecast. there's the view. we have a chilly breeze, temperatures in the 30s and 40s. starting tomorrow the numbers rebound nicely. by tuesday, wednesday, thursday, it will feel like spring armed here. as you can see we have clear skies, double scan live is crystal clear. we'll keep it that way until after midnight tonight. that's when the clouds will roll back in from the southwest, a little rain is to follow tuesday afternoon. for now we're doing okay. temperatures wise that continues to be the big story. we haven't had any chilly air at all this month with the exception of yesterday. today is somewhat chilly, two degrees above normal we're shooting for a high of 45. the lowest was 31 which is the first time philadelphia dipped below the freezing mark. the suburbs had done that, but philadelphia hadn't done that until this morning. we're seeing temperatures where they should be for this time of

the year. 40 for philadelphia and wilmington. 42 in millville and 40 in dover. you factor in the breeze, as light as it is out of the west 3 to 5 miles per hour. philadelphia feels like 36. 38 in reading. with the wind feels like 33 in allentown and feels like the freezing mark of 32 in lancaster. future tracker 6 note how far north the rain/snow line is. quebec the snow is farther to the north. up in canada it's rare that you see a rain snow line this far to the north this time of the year. it happens, but doesn't happen often. a lot of showers will push east over the next 48 hours. there's a chance of wet weather, as we get into tuesday and wednesday. here's the close up, we'll skip over this afternoon, since we're not seeing any clouds out there. here's tomorrow afternoon, as you can see it's completelily cloudy. we should day dry, the clouds will loran thicken throughout the day. monday night is dry and cloudy.

overnight we'll get showers that push through. through tuesday afternoon. it reloads as we get into wednesday. wednesday morning starts out dry, cloudy and damp. wednesday afternoon we see the next round of rain pushing through. we focus in on temperatures for the remainder of this week and the week after that. the 6 to ten day outlook. look at the warmth. temperatures well above average we're talking about two to three degrees above average. we're talking 15 to 30 cease above average in the 6 to 10 day outlook. this is the 8 to 14 day outlook. everybody east of the rockies well above averages anywhere 10 to 20 degrees above average. this takes us past new year's day. the pattern might change a little bit by the middle of january. at least for the next two weeks, a little bit longer, it will be mild. 45 in philadelphia. 44 in wilmington and millville. cape may, 44.
