of staff sergeant peter taub killed yesterday in afghanistan. it is tuesday night, jim is off and i'm brian taff. the big story is reaction to the death of a local airmen, one of six americans killed yesterday in a suicide bombing. dann cuellar spoke to staff sergeant taub's father tonight. and he is live at the satellite center. a truly devastating loss tonight. >> that is right. we learned that peter taub is it a native of wyncote. and his family didn't even know that he was in afghanistan. they say he apparently didn't want them to know, for fear they would worry. >> i had no idea until yesterday. i thought he was in saudi arabia. >> the family of 30-year-old air force staff sergeant peter taub confirmed he was among the six killed when the convey was hit by a suicide bomb attack and the taliban claimed responsibility. >> a great personality. he was funny, thoughtful, a really good family man.

he loved his wife, and i think more so he loved his daughter. >> taub was the father of a 3-year-old daughter with another child on the way, his wife due to give birth in june. the family says that he was in the service eight years, and recently re-enlisted for another four and was supposed to come home in april. and his father spoke with him on skype 2 1/2 weeks ago. >> we had a nice conversation. and he said he was in pretty good spirits. he was a little me mrfshgs -- a little sad because he was not home for the holidays. >> i loved peter very much. he was the son i never had. >> and jeff, a family friend created a gofundme site for his wife and daughter. >> and he realizes that his wife and daughter probably need financial assistance, so he took this upon himself to help them

in bringing a man back to his room. the man is spotted later leaving with a backpack and wallet. and the 75-year-old doctor was found naked and choked together with a belt aren't his neck. the investigators say they don't know if it started as a sex act or as a robbery. and following a developing story from center city where the police are investigating the report of a major diamond heist to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars. and what are the police telling but this? >> well brian, detectives say reported $340,000 worth of diamonds stolen off of a victim. now the police say there is no surveillance footage and no witnesses. reading and lancaster, 1/3 of a mile. millville, allentown a mile and a half. trenton 1.7. philadelphia dropped bound to six miles. lancaster and areas to the west under a dense fog advisory and i would not be surprised if we have a dense fog in the overnight hours because the fog could be a problem tomorrow morning. and satellite 6 and actions radar showing if you look to the south you can see showers working through the carolinas into virginia. all of that is heading our way tomorrow. futuretracker showing 8:00 in the morning plenty of clouds, some fog and spotty showers south and west of philadelphia. and then it fills in around lunchtime. periods of rain heavy at times, 58 degrees. a mild rain. it continues into the afternoon. 5:00 a lot of that latesting up to the north. then another round tomorrow night. and when is when temperatures peak in the mid to upper 60's tomorrow night, likely tying a record high. christmas eve is when you really feel the warmth. with the warm front to the north
